This unique home overlooks the real natural Louisiana bayou and marshes providing the perfect setting to experience the serenity and beauty of the Bayou Life. Don't be fooled by other listings in the area that aren't even near the water or is a house crammed together with many other houses on a man made canal with only other houses as the view. Please check out our views and then compare it to all the others.... there is no comparison.

Our unique place provides direct access to the Bayou for fishing, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, or just relaxing. From the largest, nicest decks and docks on Bayou Barataria you can truly experience the Bayou Life. Fish and crab from the dock, keep your boat in the water ready to go, or our fishing guides can pick you up from your backdoor. A true Bayou experience!

Bayou Life Charter Fishing offers a complete fishing experience package. Relax, drink your coffee on the dock as the sun rises, and step straight on to the boat. We are at the end of the Lafitte/Barataria area so the boat ride to your fishing hole is that much closer. After booking contact us and we will arrange the perfect fishing and Bayou Life experience. We can set up swamp tours, airboat tours, boating excursions, and sunset wine cruises. We even have unique access to a neighbors softshell crab experience not offered anywhere else. Come for a visit and we can make sure you have a unique, complete Bayou Life experience. We provide crab traps and fishing poles complete with bait to experience catching your own dinner the Bayou Life way. With provided notice we can even bait the traps and set them out prior to your arrival so they can start catching dinner. Each rental will have 5 lbs of jumbo shrimp caught by neighboring fishermen (contact me at booking to reserve). No better way to start off livin’ the Bayou Life than with fresh local jumbo shrimp for dinner.

We strive to provide everything you will need to make your stay wonderful. Home is completely equipped with BBQ, smoker, fire pit, and patio furniture for a relaxing and enjoyable Bayou Life experience. Kitchen is completely stocked with all the pots, pans, utensils, and gadgets you could want as well as an extensive amount of spices, condiments, salad dressings, and much more so you don't have to waste time and money at the grocery store. Even has a boiling pot setup for a traditional Louisiana seafood boil. And if that wasn't enough there are kayaks, a paddle board, crab traps, and fishing poles for your use. We also just added a commercial ice machine for FREE ICE!

If you choose to hit Bourbon Street and do a little partying don't worry about driving....No problem getting to and from the New Orleans French Quarter....I have several Uber drivers on call and ready to take you to and from the New Orleans French Quarter or anywhere in New Orleans at any time of the day or night.

Boat may be kept during your stay in the water tied to the dock. Dock is equipped with ropes, cleats, and bumpers. There is plenty of parking available with additional space if needed on an adjacent lot. You have room to keep several cars and boats on trailers in this area.

The property has three rental units. Each are completely independent and on separate floors. The only shared areas are the outside docks, decks, and patios....there are several docks, decks, and patios providing plenty of room. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. For larger groups contact me about using the other units which sleep an additional 10 and 8 people people. It was nice!

The weather was nice and i loved sitting on the dock watching the boats go by! The locals are very nice and welcoming. If i could change anything about my stay i would have a regular size bed on floor 1. Floor 2 and 3 had the best accommodations. Overall, it was a relaxing vacation.

Description was inaccurate

The location of the place was great, the pier was great and the place was clean although I was not told prior to booking the area I was booking had a kitchen somewhat detached from the rest of the property (you had to go outside to get to the kitchen) and that it did not have AC in 100 degree Louisiana summer therefore we could not cook in the kitchen as we had planned to

Great get away close to home

Bayou Life was the perfect get away from the city for a few days. We had everything we needed and Morgan was very easy to get in touch with.

Amazing

Morgan the owner is an easy-going and welcoming guy. He helped us catch a ton of crab and taught us how to make a crab boil. Man was it amazing! Any questions you have ask him he will help.

The outside is why we rented!!

The outside is amazing you can relax on the patio, deck, or fish off of 3 docks. Go inside before dark or mosquitos will eat you alive even with bug spray. We wanted to fish a lot but due to other renters also having the same idea we fished at night instead. Dock fishing here was mostly catfish or crab so we took a morning fishing charter located 3 or 4 houses down. The location in Barataria was quiet there are not a lot of restaurants or gas stations it has the small town feel where everyone knows everyone. We drove to Harvey or Marerro about 20 minutes for lunch and just brought dinner back for later. We had the options to grill or cook each night but wanted to try all the local cuisines and restaurants that the locals recommended. The first floor was small but we made it work we weren’t in the space much. The other renters in the second and third floors were very friendly and repeat customers. They recommended renting the second or third floors in the future as they are much nicer and have the kitchen in the same space. They also told us that there is the option to rent all levels to provide more privacy to the common areas. We did try the Barataria air boat tour and charter fishing while here they were both great. I would highly recommend those. Morgan is great responds quickly to all requests, emails, or texts. We are already planning a return trip to Barataria in the future.

Ahhhhhhmazing Getaway

From start to finish this small vacay was much more than we were expecting. Morgan is fabulous to work with. Everything we needed was at our fingertips! Hubby was able to drive his boat right up to the property, he was able to fish morning and evening throughout the Lafitte area. We were able to crab right off the dock, and when the catch only produced a dozen or so of crabs, Morgan made arrangements for us to purchase more from a local crab fisherman. Comfortable accommodations were found in the bottom efficiency apartment and also in the shared outdoor common areas. We are already planning our next visit. Thanks, Morgan, for being a fabulous host!

This one's going to be a regular!!

The entire process of staying at bayoulife was amazing from booking to checking out. Morgan was very easy going and accomadating from start to finish. As a New Orleans native, he was extremely knowledgeable about the area and those surrounding it. Morgan is the host that you hope for when you go into renting someone else's home. There is absolutely no need to be apprehensive! He was very realistic and open with my group about the 1st floor accommodations, size, etc. and it worked out wonderfully for us. If you are traveling with older people or a larger group, I would recommend either the 2nd or 3rd floors may be better for you. The 1st floor worked out great for us and was plenty of room for just us 3. We will definitely be staying at bayoulife every chance we get! If you're looking for somewhere safe, peaceful and comfortable, this is definitely the place. But be sure to book early as this place books up year round. I have no doubt it's the amazing hospitality of the ownership!

Bayou living

Such a cool place, town and people! This place has everything, cool owner with lots of knowledge, great deck and dock, town with tons of character. We went through a tropical depression and had a blast!! It’s a must stay!!!

Short stop in the Bayou

We had a great time! Morgan was extremely helpful and very easy to get in touch with us. We enjoyed getting to meet him and chat in person. Only regret is that we didn't stay longer! :)

Great place, close to many charter locations

We stayed on the first floor, which is relatively utilitarian, with only bunk beds. We plan on coming back and renting the second floor which has many more amenities as well as access to the elevated patio shown in the pictures.

You won't want to leave!

This was our first real family vacation with our kids (9,11 boys and 12 yr. old girl) Easy access to everything and plenty of space! Enjoyed having plenty of crabs upon arrival due to the owner pre setting them. We all used kayaks, paddle board, and had a great time even though we didn't have a boat. Owner was always available for any questions and very helpful. Renters in other floors were very social and everyone made you feel right at home! The neighbor even showed the kids around on his shrimp boat! The stay here was well worth it and it beats any stay in the city. Most definitely hope to visit again! These memories will be cherished and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to have this bayou home opened to us!

Weekend Getaway

This place was pretty amazing!! There was everything we needed for our weekend getaway all in one place. We brought our boat and docked it along the back bayou just steps away from our door. Mr Morgan was even nice enough to bait the crab traps before we arrived, and we took those crabs from the water to the pot .. can't get fresher than that!! The kids loved fishing from the dock the most. Thanks again for an amazing weekend!!

Great place to relax or play

Lovely home and gracious hosts. Communication was great with texts the day of arrival letting us know how to get into the home. Easy access to this home. We received a couple texts throughout the stay checking to make sure we had everything we needed. They even offered use of crab traps, bait, and shrimp for a shrimp boil! Less than 45 minutes to New Orleans, it is a perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy a little of New Orleans and a little of the Bayou. We enjoyed our relaxing nights on the back deck overlooking the water and socializing with the couple renting the unit above. We highly recommend this home. We ate at two nearby restaurants: Jan's Cajun and Boutte's Bayou. Good locally caught food and good prices. We can't say enough about the fried shrimp at both locations! An Airboat Adventure's tour was the icing on the cake in our Bayou experience. We were even able to hold a baby alligator!
