Map

St. Simons Island is sometimes described as a little piece of paradise. Scarcely known outside Georgia, it is quite possibly the best kept secret along the coastal Southeast. The island's majestic entrance over miles of unspoiled marshland was memorialized by Sidney Lanier in his poem The Marshes of Glynn. It's a place where an unpretentious low country meets the great ocean ... where huge tidal changes breathe life into the grassy expanse flourishing in wildlife. Somewhere in between you will discover the magic of St. Simons Island. Upon arrival, visitors are enveloped by a feeling of calm amidst ancient moss-draped oaks standing alongside glorious palms and tall southern pines. Many miles of bike paths connect a variety of shopping, eating, cultural and recreational areas within the island. There's always something fun and interesting to do. The beach at St. Simons Island is like no other. As the 7-foot tide shifts from high to low, it pulls the shoreline 1/2 mile out to sea uncovering a breathtaking system sandbars and shoals. Development is largely unseen along the north end of the beach where an abundant shrub forest has been protected and allowed to expand naturally. Acres of young dune fields nurture sensitive Sea Oats while thousands of shore birds migrate from one sand bar to the next with the receding tide. The owners and guests of Coast Cottages at St. Simons cherish their unrestricted view and enjoyment of this ecological wonderland.

Things to do on St. Simons Island:

Kayak through the marsh streams, walk the beach, eat at many great restaurants, climb the lighthouse, golf, tennis, miniature golf, small skate board park, go shopping at many quaint shops, go antique hunting, tour Fort Frederica, tour the Old Coast Guard Station (right next door to Coast Cottages), walk the sandbars at low tide, go skim boarding along the shoreline, take a trolley tour of the island, hang out at the Coast Cottages pool, go to a water park on Jekyll Island, take paddle board lessons, go crabbing or fishing right off the pier.

Beautiful Home!

  • 5 of 5

Atlantus II was the nicest rental we've ever stayed in. We loved the layout of the house with the 3 bedrooms on the first floor, each with its own bath, the 2nd floor living area with a beautiful kitchen and dining table that seats 10, then the exquisite 3rd floor master. We also loved the front deck and rooftop deck. I really appreciated the laundry on both the 1st and 3rd floors! The home was very well stocked - much more than normal rentals. It was also in a great location. We walked or rode bikes to the village in one direction and to Gould's inlet in the other direction. It was a very short walk to the pool and the ocean. The beach was huge at low tide but still big enough at high tide. This is definitely the home I would rent again the next time we're in St. Simon's Island. Thank you so much for sharing it!!

Exquisite Rental Property with Everything You Could Want or Need!

  • 5 of 5

Atlantus II provided our family with the best beach vacation that we have ever enjoyed. The house was gorgeous and well thought out to the tiniest detail. The decor was beautiful and welcoming. Each room was well put together and the beds, bedding and towels were all high quality. We all agreed that we had never slept in more comfortable beds outside our own homes! We enjoyed cooking in the lovely kitchen that was clearly stocked by a good chef, and we had every utensil, dish, pots and pans that we could possibly need (and good quality ones as well). The dining area and living area were spacious and also impeccably decorated. And we absolutely loved the many balconies where we enjoyed coffee, cocktails and sunshine. The access to the pool and to the widest beach on St. Simon's made for many great family memories... and the house provided ample toys and towels for our trips to both. The kids had a great time with both the pool and beach walking distance from the house. And we couldn't have loved St. Simon's more, with it's great restaurants, rich history, beautiful scenery and friendly community! It was definitely our best family vacation to date and can't wait to book our next stay at Atlantus II!

Gorgeous Beach Home

  • 5 of 5

Atlantus II Cottage is lovely! I had the opportunity to visit many homes in the neighborhood and while they are all nice I feel Atlantus II was luxurious! We were very pleased with the kitchen. It was the focal point of the house and gorgeous where everyone could sit together at the kitchen table. It was well stocked and of good quality; loved the dishware and serving pieces. The pantry was over-flowing with basic supplies like flour, sugar, oil, foil, baskets, bowls. Very pleased with the quantity and quality of beach towels; enough for everyone and thick enough to absorb. Also plenty of bath towels and pillows for each room. It was nice to have laundry facilities upstairs and downstairs and even a drying rack for delicates. A short walk to the pool which was divided between families and adults was a nice feature. The beach was huge! Never seen such an expansive beach; you may need GPS to locate your family. The sand is very hot and has fire ants at the pier so wear shoes! The town is very quaint. Enjoyed strolling through the town and visiting the specialty shops. My favorite restaurant was The Rooftop at Ocean Lodge. Magnificent views, delicious food, attentive staff and a warm breeze. For a more casual setting, walk 1/2 mile to the Crab Trap. And when you tire of seafood, don't miss Southern Soul Barbecue as seen on Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives. We enjoyed our trip to the water park on Jekyll Island; there is a $6 fee to cross to the island. Overall great experience that I would recommend to families.

Owner's Response: Thanks for a wonderful review! I'm not sure if you encountered the ants near the Village pier, or somewhere else. But if we find them anywhere near our beach boardwalk at Coast Cottages, our staff will treat for them immediately. Hope to see you again next year! ~Patrick Anderson

Beautiful Luxury by the Sea

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this villa's spaciousness, layout and decor. This is the largest villa we have ever seen! The multiple stories created so many charming spaces to spend our time. The master bedroom balcony, the living area balcony, the rooftop balcony, the work space off the master bedroom, and the lounge area on the first level were all appreciated little hide aways when spending a week with a large group. The first thing you see when you open the front door is the wood flooring and stairway which are really gorgeous. All the finishes in the villa are top of the line and the furnishings are sophisticated and extremely comfortable. It is amazing! You will feel like you are vacationing in a Parade of Homes show-house property. The kitchen is set up in the middle of the living area with a barstool lined counter where your group can socialize with you while you cook. We loved the dedicated ice maker for all our beverage needs! We enjoyed being so close to the beach, but we spent a lot of happy time relaxing in the villa just because it was so welcoming and luxurious. There wasn't any downside to this place. Thanks for the great vacation memories!

Perfect Family vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We vacationed with 3 generations and had a wonderful experience. The widow's walk was so much fun, ocean views and sunsets, and sing alongs in the evening. The pool and beach are just steps away and we all enjoyed family time in the luxurious yet cozy cottage. We found the kitchen exceptionally well supplied - wine cooler, ice maker, gas range, large refrig, and the table for 10 was perfect. The living area provided a great place for our evening family fun nights. All our needs were anticipated, and the "beach wagon" was especially appreciated for beach trips. A short walk down the beach is a paddle board rental place, and we had a fun afternoon with all of us talking turns on 2 boards. We also took a short trip to Jeckyll Island and the fun WaterPark there, and a day trip to Cumberland Island on the ferry (reservations needed) and saw the wild horses and mansion ruins. We made many happy family memories at Atlantus II and we would definitely return often!! Thanks to the owners and property manager who provided us with a wonderful family vacation on St. Simons Island!!
