Christmas on Coast Cottage
We completely enjoyed our Christmas holiday on St. Simon's. Our second time staying at the lovely Atlantus II cottage which is perfect for our family of 9.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Atlantus II. The unit is comfortably elegant and has everything you need to have a relaxing vacation. It was very clean, beds were comfortable with nice linens and pillows, and it has plenty of space for a large group to spread out, providing privacy, if desired, as well as areas for socializing. Customer service from Patrick Anderson was excellent. He replied promptly to any communication and was available, if needed. We would definitely return to Atlantus II and highly recommend it for your SSI vacation!
Perfect Family Vacation
The house was beautiful, very well maintained and very well provisioned for cooking. We enjoyed incredible views and ocean breezes from 3 different decks. The community pool was a real bonus, also very well maintained. Thomas cleaned the pool daily and our 3 year old granddaughter enjoyed chatting with him every morning! The wagon provided was also nice making the short walk to the beach much easier!
There were many other beach amenities... toys, chairs and umbrella available.
Atlantus II was the nicest rental we've ever stayed in. We loved the layout of the house with the 3 bedrooms on the first floor, each with its own bath, the 2nd floor living area with a beautiful kitchen and dining table that seats 10, then the exquisite 3rd floor master. We also loved the front deck and rooftop deck. I really appreciated the laundry on both the 1st and 3rd floors! The home was very well stocked - much more than normal rentals. It was also in a great location. We walked or rode bikes to the village in one direction and to Gould's inlet in the other direction. It was a very short walk to the pool and the ocean. The beach was huge at low tide but still big enough at high tide. This is definitely the home I would rent again the next time we're in St. Simon's Island. Thank you so much for sharing it!!
Exquisite Rental Property with Everything You Could Want or Need!
Atlantus II provided our family with the best beach vacation that we have ever enjoyed. The house was gorgeous and well thought out to the tiniest detail. The decor was beautiful and welcoming. Each room was well put together and the beds, bedding and towels were all high quality. We all agreed that we had never slept in more comfortable beds outside our own homes! We enjoyed cooking in the lovely kitchen that was clearly stocked by a good chef, and we had every utensil, dish, pots and pans that we could possibly need (and good quality ones as well). The dining area and living area were spacious and also impeccably decorated. And we absolutely loved the many balconies where we enjoyed coffee, cocktails and sunshine. The access to the pool and to the widest beach on St. Simon's made for many great family memories... and the house provided ample toys and towels for our trips to both. The kids had a great time with both the pool and beach walking distance from the house. And we couldn't have loved St. Simon's more, with it's great restaurants, rich history, beautiful scenery and friendly community! It was definitely our best family vacation to date and can't wait to book our next stay at Atlantus II!
Gorgeous Beach Home
Atlantus II Cottage is lovely! I had the opportunity to visit many homes in the neighborhood and while they are all nice I feel Atlantus II was luxurious! We were very pleased with the kitchen. It was the focal point of the house and gorgeous where everyone could sit together at the kitchen table. It was well stocked and of good quality; loved the dishware and serving pieces. The pantry was over-flowing with basic supplies like flour, sugar, oil, foil, baskets, bowls. Very pleased with the quantity and quality of beach towels; enough for everyone and thick enough to absorb. Also plenty of bath towels and pillows for each room. It was nice to have laundry facilities upstairs and downstairs and even a drying rack for delicates. A short walk to the pool which was divided between families and adults was a nice feature. The beach was huge! Never seen such an expansive beach; you may need GPS to locate your family. The sand is very hot and has fire ants at the pier so wear shoes! The town is very quaint. Enjoyed strolling through the town and visiting the specialty shops. My favorite restaurant was The Rooftop at Ocean Lodge. Magnificent views, delicious food, attentive staff and a warm breeze. For a more casual setting, walk 1/2 mile to the Crab Trap. And when you tire of seafood, don't miss Southern Soul Barbecue as seen on Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives. We enjoyed our trip to the water park on Jekyll Island; there is a $6 fee to cross to the island. Overall great experience that I would recommend to families.
Thanks for a wonderful review! I'm not sure if you encountered the ants near the Village pier, or somewhere else. But if we find them anywhere near our beach boardwalk at Coast Cottages, our staff will treat for them immediately. Hope to see you again next year! ~Patrick Anderson
St. Simons Island is sometimes described as a little piece of paradise. Scarcely known outside Georgia, it is quite possibly the best kept secret along the coastal Southeast. The island's majestic entrance over miles of unspoiled marshland was memorialized by Sidney Lanier in his poem The Marshes of Glynn. It's a place where an unpretentious low country meets the great ocean ... where huge tidal changes breathe life into the grassy expanse flourishing in wildlife. Somewhere in between you will discover the magic of St. Simons Island. Upon arrival, visitors are enveloped by a feeling of calm amidst ancient moss-draped oaks standing alongside glorious palms and tall southern pines. Many miles of bike paths connect a variety of shopping, eating, cultural and recreational areas within the island. There's always something fun and interesting to do. The beach at St. Simons Island is like no other. As the 7-foot tide shifts from high to low, it pulls the shoreline 1/2 mile out to sea uncovering a breathtaking system sandbars and shoals. Development is largely unseen along the north end of the beach where an abundant shrub forest has been protected and allowed to expand naturally. Acres of young dune fields nurture sensitive Sea Oats while thousands of shore birds migrate from one sand bar to the next with the receding tide. The owners and guests of Coast Cottages at St. Simons cherish their unrestricted view and enjoyment of this ecological wonderland.
Things to do on St. Simons Island:
Kayak through the marsh streams, walk the beach, eat at many great restaurants, climb the lighthouse, golf, tennis, miniature golf, small skate board park, go shopping at many quaint shops, go antique hunting, tour Fort Frederica, tour the Old Coast Guard Station (right next door to Coast Cottages), walk the sandbars at low tide, go skim boarding along the shoreline, take a trolley tour of the island, hang out at the Coast Cottages pool, go to a water park on Jekyll Island, take paddle board lessons, go crabbing or fishing right off the pier.
