About the property

Villa, 5 Bedrooms , 5.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Nestled in the foothills of the Luberon, this large and luxurious villa was built 15 years ago by a local architect in a modern style while using the local white stones. Overlooking the vineyards, Mont Ventoux and the villages of Roussillon and Joucas, Villa Manon is truly in the heart of the Luberon. With its wide open spaces on the main floor, opening to several covered terraces and the heated horizon pool, the house is ideal for large groups of families or friends.

The 3 large bedrooms in the main house are all equipped with en-suite bathrooms, King-sized (180 cm) beds, alarm/CD players, and air conditioning. They open to the upper and lower terraces, enjoying gorgeous views of the countryside. One of those bedrooms is located on the main floor, ideally suited to our guests with impaired mobility.

The 2 bedrooms in the second house have been updated and upgraded to the standards of the main house. Also equipped with air conditioning and brightly colored en-suite bathrooms with Italian showers, they are furnished with a Queen bed (160 cm) in one and 2 twin beds in the other. A Nespresso machine, water boiler and bar fridge complete the equipment of these two bedrooms, allowing for those late night snacks, early morning coffee, or the urge for a cold drink in the middle of the night.

The main house offers a large formal living room and a dining room for 10, as well as a smaller TV room with international channels and various media plug-ins. The upper galleria above the living room is dedicated to office work, with desks and full internet access, as anywhere else throughout.

The kitchen, decorated in the Provencal fashion, is the heart of the house. Equipped with top-of-the-line appliances, a large pantry, and all the necessary cookware, from family heirlooms to modern pots and pans, it is truly fit for the gourmet cook. Our American guests will feel at ease thanks to the imported measurement tools, English cookbooks, washer/dryer and ice-water dispenser fridge...

A small covered gym, equipped with an upright bike, rowing machine, and weights completes the main floor.

You may choose to have breakfast on the back patio looking out to a rose garden, have a quick lunch in the cool of the kitchen , enjoy an evening drink in the outside living room and dine outside on the large teak table, looking out to the pool.

With AC in all the bedrooms, very comfortable beds, lots of towels and all paper and cleaning supplies, kitchen staples, hairdryers, high-speed internet access throughout, Satellite TV with all international channels, a separate clothes dryer, a gas BBQ, a heated pool suitable for laps, a petanque game area, a huge, completely fenced and very private garden with panoramic views of the Apt valley, an English-speaking house-manager who can double as a concierge and help you organize your stay with advance bookings, gourmet tours and in-house catering, that is a value of $80 per night per occupant for 10 people, in the midst of the high-season!

You may decide to spend an active day, discovering one of the numerous villages hanging from the hills, visiting the splendid Abbaye of Senanque in its nest of lavender, shopping at the local markets or at the nearby farm for the bountiful produce of the region, or you may decide to do nothing and stay at the house all day, resting in the shade, listening to the humming cicadas', or going for a walk in the adjacent forest and cooling off in the pool.

The pool is heated, and once you have enjoyed a midnight bath in the starry night, watching the twinkling lights in the valley as you swim, you will truly feel in paradise!

So call me now to book your next stay in Provence.

About Francoise Martin

We, (Pascal and Francoise) are both French living in Seattle, WA (USA). We were craving sun, and we wanted to have a family home in France, a gathering place for the French side of the family and all our friends across the world. We wanted it to be nice, but simple and without fuss, welcoming to our big kids as much as to the grand-parents. The kids love to come for extended visits, and our first grand-son has had his first taste of Provence this last August. The dog came to visit and loved it too...

Francoise Martin purchased this villa in 2003

Why Francoise Martin chose Luberon Area

We bought Villa Manon 14 years ago for its spectacular views of the Luberon, for the peace and quiet surrounding it, for the endless sunny days we could envision spending in Provence. We considered the time it took traveling from Paris or the US, where it was located if we wanted to attend all the beautiful summer festivals in Orange, Avignon, Aix.... and the fact that it was close to some of the most superb vineyards that go so well with the local food.

What makes this villa unique

We made the house comfortable for all the friends visiting us with or without their children and we made sure we could cook great meals in the kitchen (Francoise loves to cook and Pascal loves to eat!). There is never enough time in Provence to do it all: winetasting in Bandol or Chateauneuf du Pape, shopping, day dreaming by the pool, playing tennis in the early morning, walking through the hills to Lumiere or stopping by the cafe in Goult, a nap in the shade, a great restaurant at night, we just love it all and are always sad to leave.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Provence at its best!

What a complete Provence experience our trip was, thanks to Villa Manon! Situation is ideal, with modern amenities inside, and true Provence outside: The house is made in "pierre blanche", the local white stone used in Provence, while inside the rooms are oversized and comfortable, with each bedroom having its own bathroom and closets. The pool is a modern work of art, blue tile and overflowing, with Provence-scape and Mont Ventoux for backdrop. We were swimming into infinite provencal delight, with nothing between us and Mont Ventoux but the wind, birds, and a few lavender beds... Adjoining the pool is a covered area with a big table and bbq, just perfect for sharing the meals made in cook's dream kitchen... We were eating dinner sitting 12 so comfortably, it made it hard to go out for dinner! As for groceries, Goult is a 5mn drive, and offers the best of Provence's groceries, and with its windmill and fortress walls still defining the village, makes food shopping a stroll in Provence's history... Provence's smiles and kindness were also present at every corner: The "epicerie" owner said to simply pay another day when I had forgotten my purse, and the cafe owner was offended when I offered to pay ahead for the pissaladiere and "plat du jour" I ordered to go for 12 people for the following day... We felt close to everything, taking walks in the forest and nearby Hameaux, on ways and paths accesible practically out of the backyard, and only to pedestrians. Some of Provence's most interesting villages: Gordes, Roussillon, and Bonnieux are all within 15mn drive. The Senanque Abbaye which is one of my favourite monuments is probably 40 mn away. As for shopping, Avignon is 45mn, Apt 25mn...

Amazing holiday

  • 5 of 5

This is second year in a row we have rented Villa Manon, and we are in love with the house and the region. The house is spacious and have all facilities. We appreciate the air condition in all the rooms. We like to eat breakfast in the cool patio close to the kitchen and lunches and dinners in front of the pool and the view of Luberon. This year we also used the petanque playground behind the house. It is impossible to see how beautiful the house is on the pictures, you need to to experience it! And I also need to mention that the closebye village Goult is adorable. It is like walking back in time and luckily there is less tourists. We hope we can come back next year.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Paul, for your nice comments about the house.Yes, Villa Manon has many different areas to seek out in the course of the day, we like that about it too. It makes it comfortable for large groups to not feel confined to each other. And I am glad you enjoyed Goult, I think it is a great village, far less crowded, and with a real life to it, not just a series of touristy shops like some other places. Definitely worth many strolls over, to the market, to the windmill, to the cafe de la Poste.... without forgetting a stop at La Boulangerie where the variety of breads is so tantalizing and yummy! Thank you for having come back to visit. You were, as before, great guests to have. All the best to you all, Francoise

It Couldn't Be Better

  • 5 of 5

If you want beauty, luxury, astonishingly beautiful views, and a swimming pool that is perfect for Provence summer days, Villa Manon is for you. Plus, the manager is very helpful, available, and friendly--and nearby Goult is a charming village with history, great restaurants and few tourists. An ideal ten days we will remember and return to.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Mimi, for your kind words, and I shall pass them along to our long trusted property manager and friend, as he has cared for the house and our guests over the years with incredible attention to all details, to make sure our guests have the best possible stay. Most of all, I am so happy to hear that your group enjoyed its vacation at Villa Manon and in Provence. You were a great guest, thank you for your own care of the house. Enjoy the rest of your summer. Francoise

Exceptionally beautiful, peaceful place!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent two lovely weeks at Villa Manon. The villa's public areas showcase the exceptional views by opening to the large terraces that surround the spacious pool. The bedrooms are large and have modern up to date bathrooms. The kitchen is a cook's dream- fully equipped ! Our family spent many happy evenings cooking or grilling our "market finds" and then enjoying our efforts outside on the lovely terrace with mesmerizing views. Besides enjoying the pool, we had many spirited bocci ball contests on the court by the side of the home. Plus it was such a pleasure to cut a few roses and other flowers from the large gardens that surround the home. Finally, we felt the location of the villa was perfect- plenty of privacy, yet close enough to run into Goult for breakfast croissants or to dine at the town's several excellent restaurants. We also liked the fact that Goult, while charming, was not as crowded as the other close by more well-known Luberon hill towns. All in all, a perfect place to stay in the Luberon- we are definitely coming back!!

Amazing villa... A dream come true!

  • 5 of 5

What an incredible place. I booked this villa to celebrate a birthday with a group of friends. From the moment we arrived we were swept away by the magic of this place. It is perched on a small hillside with a sweeping view of the luberon valley with mont ventoux in the distance ..gorgeous! The property is incredibly comfortable..wonderfully appointed..elegant but not stuffy. Each bedroom has plenty of space and attached baths (the rooms in the guest house have brand new bathrooms that are stunning). The kitchen is great- so well stocked that we spent many evenings cooking at home (with finds from the local markets). There was plenty of room for the entire group- everyone could spread out, find quiet spots but then come together in the living room, porch or kitchen. Herve, the manager, was very helpful, heing us with dinner reservations and giving great advice.

Our entire group was completely smitten by our stay. We kept thinking we were in a magazine or movie. We would definitely recommend this place for any is truley a dream come true. Many, many thanks francoise!

Owner's Response: Thank you, dear Lisa, for your lovely comments. Most of all, I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay, both in Luberon and at Villa Manon. I spend a lot of time trying to make the house warm and welcoming for our guests, and it is always good to know when I succeed in making everyone' stay a happy one. I am very pleased with our recent remodeling. The new bedrooms and bathrooms, with their high ceilings, are such a great improvement from the past. Same space, but twice as much room, as one can finally stand everywhere... I hope you also got to enjoy the exercise room. On a rainy day (and yes Provence has them too!), I think it is a great plus for the house. I have a new cleaning crew and they have done wonder to refresh every room in depth and give me new ideas for the guests to feel even more welcome. So lots of good things for Villa Manon and again thank you to all your group for being great guests in our home.

Incredible villa and amazing views

  • 5 of 5

This was an incredible place..even better than the pictures can convey. The house is sited between 2 small villages, but very close to everything in the luberon. The villa was gorgeous with comfortable furnishings inside and out. We were a large group but everyone felt they had plenty of privacy when needed. Each bedroom had a private bath (newly updated in the adjoining house). The kitchen was fully stocked and we loved it so much we had a blast shopping in the markets and coming "home" to cook festive meals. The views were glorious...looking out over the luberon valley and all the way to mount ventoux in the peaceful. Herve was wonderful..meeting us upon arrival, making some wonderful suggestions for local restaurants and tips for travel. Francoise, the owner, was a dream to work with..very communicative, and she has a detailed list of the whole surrounding area filled with information about the local towns, markets, restaurants and wines.

Sitting on the outside porch, overlooking the valley at sunset while tasting local wines and cheeses felt like I had stepped onto a movie set..just incredible. I would come back in a heartbeat and I cannot recommend this place is magical!

October and Villa Manon

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from our third stay at Villa Manon and are simply delighted to say that, once again, our holiday was truly memorable! This area of Provence, near Gordes, is a favorite of ours, but the highlight of the journey is always Villa Manon. From the moment we arrive and gaze across the valley, to each evening as the sun goes down and we enjoy everything this home has to offer, we know we have made the right choice. Villa Manon is our "home in Provence". Thank you, Françoise, for creating such a wonderful place!
