About Debra and Jeff Carpenter
Jeff, my husband and I started vacationing in Helen 15 years ago. We purchased our first cabin, Wildwood, a two story tree house style on our first vacation. After about 5 years of coming to Wildwood we purchased our 3 Bedroom Magical Log Cabin on a 2 acre wooded stream. This was to be our retirement home. As luck would have it both of our jobs allows us the opportunity to work anywhere so we decided we did not want to wait to move to this area. We love this area and moved in to a cabin on a creek nearby our Magical Log Cabin home. We have been living here for 5 years now and have no regrets about our relocation from Florida. Every day is an adventure in the mountains and on a creek. We have opened our cabins to vacationers which have nothing but 5 star reviews. We take pride in our properties. We insist on proper cleaning and repairs. Our tubs and hot tubs are emptied and sterilized between each and every guest and cleaned and properly treated so that couples can feel comfortable knowing that they are safe for use. Bedspreads are all washable and cleaned frequently as well. Our housekeepers are trained and paid well to make sure that every item in the cabin is cleaned, dusted and up to date working order.

Quaint, great for getaway weekend!
Loved the cabin, perfect size for a couple. The hot tub didn’t work, which was a big reason why we went, but Debra was so helpful with that!
Thank you for your kind review. So sorry there was a problem with the Hot Tub during your stay. I am happy to report it is up and running perfectly now. We hope that you will come back soon!

Gorgeous, romantic, cozy cabin!
My husband and I spent our honeymoon in this cabin and we LOVED IT. Everything was so clean and quaint, and the Christmas decorations as well as the regular decor of the cabin were absolutely gorgeous and so romantic. We loved the fireplace, fire pit, and hot tub and will DEFINITELY be back to visit (maybe for our anniversary!) ❤️

We loved our stay and hope to be back soon!
We arrived at the cabin on a cold night that was in the 20s, temperatures not common for us Atlantians. With that in mind, having the cabin already warmed, with lights on and music playing was a fantastic welcoming surprise! The cabin is within 15 min at the most from most popular hiking trails and less then 8 minutes from Helen. It is a great location to try out some wineries and local restaurants in town. Especially after a long hike! The cabin is properly equipped with all the necessary utensils and appliances to make anyone's stay feel right at home. It was clean, well decorated, cozy without the cabin smell. The Jacuzzi and bathtub are a big plus! We highly recommend this stay and thank you Debra for such a lovely weekend at your cabin!
Great cabin! Super cozy! Loved the view and atmosphere! The cabin was cozy and quaint
my boyfriend and I desperately needed this romantic getaway! It was cozy and quaint and just what we needed. The cabin offered easy access to wineries nearby, Anna Ruby falls and other parks, and downtown Helen, and was the perfect space to relax and enjoy each other’s company. We enjoyed the hot tub, the bath, the fireplace was amazing. The property is beautiful and as described. Will definitely recommend and will definitely come back!
Approximately one mile from Helen City Limits. Approx. 2 miles from Water Park, Zip Line, Nora Mill, Antique Mall and Habersham winery. Approximately 2 miles in the other direction to Unicoi State Park offering a lake, boat rentals, picnic area, hiking trails and beach. Also the Anna Ruby falls is located in this park. There is a lodge offering buffet style lunch and dinner and a lounge at the Lodge. 3 miles from the beautiful Sautee Nacoochee Valley. The Legend Of Sautee & Nacoochee The Legend of Sautee and Nacoochee is well documented. The first White settlers, coming up the Unicoi Trail, now known as Georgia Highway 17, heard the story as they stopped to rest in the shade of the giant white oak, still standing adjacent the Old Sautee Store. (Hwy 17 & 255). One among them, George Williams, a young lad at the time, retold this story in his memoirs. The Cherokees considered themselves to be a superior race, as indeed they were. Handsome, tall and intelligent, they even had an alphabet, the first in America. They were not nomads, they built log houses and tilled the soil. They had but one grievous fault. This superiority was allowed to show. Naturally, this did not endear them to the neighboring tribes. One of these, the Chickasaws, was constantly at war with the Cherokee. However, there were moments of relative calm. During one such truce, a band of Chickasaws was allowed to cross over Cherokee land, provided they stay on the Unicoi Trail and rested only at designated spots. One such spot was where two trails crossed at the junction of two lovely valleys, the same place where - a century later, a young George Williams stopped. As the Chickasaw band rested, in the shade of the giant oak, around them gathered curious Cherokees, trying to get a closer look at the dispised Chickasaws. Soon they were trading insults and obscenities. The Cherokees were hoping to bait the Chicasaws into making an overt act. But, the Chickasaws were too cagey to be trapped by such obvious maneuvers. One of the Chickasaws stands aloof from this bickering. It is Sautee: young, handsome and a chief's son. He dreams of the day when he will be chief. And has the authority to negotiate permanent peace with the Cherokees. Some of this greatness must have shown, for Nacoochee, the Cherokee chief's 16-year-old daughter, is so taken by this handsome stranger that she stares unashamedly. Then their eyes meet. The magic alchemy of love does the rest. Not one spoken word - and yet a tryst was made. That night Nacoochee steals away from her father's log house to meet with Sautee, under the giant white oak, now known as the Sautee Oak. By this time, they are helplessly and hopelessly in love. The rest of Sautee's party, counsels against this madness. No good could come of this flagrant violation of their truce. If Wahoo, the girl's father, learned of this meeting, all would be doomed. But, then, as now, teenagers feel they must defy the establishment. "Run, if you must," Sautee tells his followers, "but, I remain here with Nacoochee. Together we will make Wahoo understand. This must be the first step to a lasting peace between our two nations. The couple secretly spent time together in a secret cave within Yonah Mountain. Despite their private affair, both felt compelled to bring their love to the Chief for approval, never dreaming that they would not receive his blessing. To the young couples surprise, the Chief was blinded by anger when his daughter presented Sautee as the man she loved, not only ordering him away, but ordering him to be thrown from the highest cliffs of the Yonah Mountains. Nacoochee was forced to look on to her lover's demise. Overcome with grief, and unable to see a life worth living without Sautee, she too threw herself from the high cliffs. They were united at the cliff's basin, joined forever in death. Wahoo, the Chief, found the fallen couple in an endearing embrace, realizing too late that his daughter's love was in fact her fate. Wahoo becomes overcome with remorse, something he will live with the rest of his life , choosing to leave the couple united in death at the mountain's basin. Today, that burial mound still stands at the Junction of Georgia Highway 75 and Highway 17. The valleys were renamed, one for each of the fallen lovers. While you're up visiting at the cabins in Helen, GA stop and to pay respects.
