The Wide, Bright, Blue, Clear Skies of New Mexico
When I arrived, there was a gate I was not expecting but I reached Beverly by phone and she walked me through what to do. Then she graciously gave me a "virtual" walk through by phone explaining important info. She obviously cared about my comfort and getting familiar with my home for three weeks. Beverly was so unconcerned about my Great Pyrenees, a large dog. It was wonderful to have such a welcome for BOTH of us. The house was very clean upon arrival and once I had all of the shades open, the magic of New Mexico came streaming in the windows. I have previously lived in the area and have considered moving to Eldorado so I chose this location instead of prior Santa Fe vrbos. What is special about this home is the floor to ceiling windows that provide clear, full views of the open space, sky, and mountains. The patio is well-furnished and a lovely place to enjoy relaxing outside. No need to even walk outside for the spectacular sunsets or moon, and even stars could be seen inside! My dog and I walked every morning and afternoon by simply stepping off the patio and enjoying the trails in the open space. Eldorado also offers trails through 5,000 acres of a private, Eldorado preserve, so for hikers it doesn't get any easier and the house had a map plus other area info.
The home was very comfortable, supplied with everything I needed, a well-stocked kitchen, and a short drive to Santa Fe. It is a passive solar design and primary heat is the pellet wood stove. I had to call Beverly about the pellet stove since I was unfamiliar and could not find instructions. My only suggestion is to provide a book with instructions about items that we went over by phone. It only took a day or two to figure out what combination of shades, wood stove, or open door I needed for a comfortable temperature.
There is no real need to leave Eldorado since it has a grocery, post office, some shops, music venue and restaurants. Oasis Cafe has fantastic gyros and Cafe Fina is excellent for everything from coffee drinks, to baked goods, to breakfast and brunch meals. Wifi was good, as was Verizon cell service and I used the smart TV to rent a couple of movies through my VUDU account.
I appreciated Beverly checking with me a couple of days after I had time to settle in. She is very thoughtful and had some local beverages in the fridge to enjoy. I recommend this home for anyone seeking a pet-friendly, pleasant home with expansive views and a thoughtful, open-minded owner.
Absolutely the perfect getaway for our week in Santa Fe!
The home was warm, breathtaking, totally idyllic! A view from every room of the valley across to the Sandia Peaks 50+ miles away. The kitchen has been completely modernize while being delightfully decorated in a beautiful southwestern flair. We had planned on spending more time walking around Santa Fe, but once in the house, it became like our secret grotto. We actually spent more time just taking in the view and relaxing. What an awesome time we had! Definitely planning to return soon!!
Great Place to Relax!
This was a terrific house to spend the Thanksgiving Holiday with my wife, two young children, and our dog! It was so beautiful and comfy that we didn't do as much sightseeing in nearby Santa Fe as we thought we would. That said, it was an easy 20 minute drive into town. We loved the private feel and gorgeous views from the back deck. The sun sets behind the distant mountains like a painting, and area light restrictions made for incredible stargazing at night. The kitchen was well appointed and we were able to cook a traditional Thanksgiving meal no problem. The owner, Beverly heard we'd be cooking and bought a new roasting pan for the occasion! She was eager to answer questions and make sure we wanted for nothing during our stay. The kids loved the play structure out back and the individual single beds in their room. A trundle pulls out from below the main bed. The master bed was more comfortable than ours at home and a fireplace motif compliments every room in the house. I can't recommend this property enough, and I hope to return someday soon. Thanks for the hospitality!
The house is wonderful! The view is amazing! It is the perfect location to feel like you’re out in nature, looking at the beautiful NM landscape yet close enough to Santa Fe to run in everyday! Beverly was very helpful with suggestions of all things around town/nearby and making sure all of my needs were met. She is extremely attentive and engaged! The floor to ceiling windows give an unforgettable view of the setting sun, and I could not be more pleased with my stay!
very quaint and charming home with a cabin feel
We loved our stay and especially the accommodations..Everything was thought out and well equipped. The location was perfect for us.Great biking trails along Lamy RR tracks ! Beautiful.Great restaurants close by, especially Fina Cafe. The beds were great and water pressure in shower was assume.Would definitely go back and stay at this home again.
Serene, private, beautiful, conveniently located.
We came to Santa Fe during a strange spring snowstorm, and it couldn't have turned out better! The yard is secluded overlooking open areas and mountain views in the distance, with great play areas for kids, the home is cozy with sleeping areas privately located away from each other for nice afternoon napping. It feels like one is tucked away in the mountains, yet the location is only minutes away from shopping/dining/galleries. The owner was always available on the phone for questions (how to operate the stove, etc.). Looking froward to coming back later this year!
