We are located right off the freeway, just 2 blocks South of the 101 and 1/2 block from the city bus stop.
You may also rent the property for parties, photography and location shoots.
This was not my first choice, I must admit the reviews and rules for vacation scared me. My first choice was not available, so I went with the Bungalow. I am SO GLAD I did! The property is exactly as it is portrayed. The hostess was extremely gracious and my stay could not have been more perfect!
As for the previous reviews that almost scared me away, you must look at the whole picture. This is NOT a hotel, this is someones home. Today, respect seems to be a thing of the past. A little respect and common courtesy on your part will make this vacation spot a favorite. If however, you have no respect or common courtesy for others, this is not the place for you.
I absolutely LOVED the property, motif, privacy, amenities and the hostess. If you are looking for a private and relaxing get away, this is your go to spot!
Perfect Size and Great accommodations for myself and my dog.
I’m not going to lie, I was a bit nervous reading some of the reviews and all of the rules that come with staying here but I’m glad I didn’t let that keep me from booking this place. We stayed 2 nights. The property is amazing, when you get to the back yard, it’s like you’ve been transported to somewhere tropical, everything is beautifully put together. We stayed in The Bungalow and it was perfect for my husband and I. The bed is very soft, not good if you have a bad back like I do but with the extra pillows I was able to make it work for me, also the blinds on the door do not go all the way down so there is about a 3 inch gap at the bottom but we used our backpacks and some pillows to over the gap. I loved the size of the shower and the shower pressure. We didn’t have trouble parking, we got a spot across the street from the house both nights. What I was extremely excited and surprised about was that the property is literally a 3 minute drive from Old Town Calabasas. I love the location of this place, 25 minutes from Hollywood and 25 minutes from North Santa Monica if you cut through the Santa Monica Mountains. Grocery stores and restaurants within a 5 minute drive from the house. The check in/out instructions were word for word and everything you need to know is provided for you in the handbook they provide. I love this place and will definitely stay again.
This reservation was from another reservation site, but wanted to post here as well, as I would have liked a heads-up myself. Last time we stayed in this unit we had ten dollars held back from our deposit due to a picture frame allegedly receiving water damage. (plus @$37 for a "damaged" hair dryer that was damaged before our arrival. I chose not to make a stink about it, but lesson learned to document all abnormalities.) This visit, the very same frame was still there, "damaged" and all, yet owner still took out from the deposit, claiming she "was giving me a good deal by only taking ten dollars". It's a discount store frame, but it's the principal, money no matter. Then THIS stay, I forgot to clean two coffee cups, and she charged me the entire "$25 dish fee", due to my own stress and hurriedness out the door. I can see five bucks for a minute worth of work, but to charge a repeat customer $25 for cleaning two coffee cups? No sugar or cream even. Never experienced such stinginess before. Nice and cute place, served our purposes, but I refuse to support someone that operates the business as such and will not be returning.
The bungalow was a cute little place to stay. Although we only stayed one night, instead of two. The bed was super comfortable, but I slept on the pull out couch and had to sleep on the cushions. The shower wouldn't stay hot for longer than 5 minutes and we found out after we were packed and had booked another hotel that the hot water had to be turned on. The parking was absolutely horrible. There was no place to park and I'm pretty sure I was parked in places I wasn't supposed to be parked in both times. Overall, it wasn't that bad of a place.
Our "self check-in" failed. The owner forgot to set the "code" for us. Lucky for us we checked in before 6:00 p.m.! The unit was as pictured and very clean. Quite cute and adequate for a short (couple of days) stay. The bed was ok for us but we had to borrow a stool to get in and out. There is NO change of sheets. If you want clean sheets, you have to pay to have them washed at the owner's laundry area. We have never stayed anywhere that did not offer a change of linen. Plenty of towels, though. The unit is damp and musty but the electric space heater in the morning seems to help with that. Kitchen facilities are adequate for breakfast. An email was received 10 days prior to arrival that gave "self check-in" instructions and the strict Visitor policy. We don't remember seeing anything about this on the property site. Had we known about her Visitor policy, we would NOT have booked. We were in town visiting family for two weeks and at times, have a family member with us when getting something from the unit, etc. Visitors must be approved 24 hrs in advance and there is a $10.00 fee for each during that 24 hrs. We explained that we were visiting with family but that was not negotiable. We also would not recommend this property for anyone with any type mobility problem. My husband has some arthritis in his legs and found the steep, narrow, stairs to get to the unit, quite an obstacle. He ended up walking on the driveway to go up.
We did have a problem with the teenage son of another guest. We were just lazing around one morning, being there later than usual. He came right up to the door and peeked into the windows! Imagine his surprise to see me sitting at the table. Imagine mine! I asked him what he was doing and he just said "sorry" and left. I reported to Cheri.
We felt like we were being watched at all times. Notices of video and audio security are posted. That's ok if used properly, but the other things just made for an uncomfortable stay. There is a fee for everything....toilet tissue, trash bags, etc. We recommend you have your own. We would not stay here again because of the strict visitor policy and the access to the unit. We would not recommend for any extended stay.
