Great weekend getaway!
We were a group of 4 adults and one dog visiting Ian’s place for two nights. The day before we arrived it snowed 18 inches, but the snow only made the views even prettier!
The place was perfect for four people, very well laid out with some separation between the bedrooms and the main living area. I really enjoyed the bright kitchen with views of the waterfall out back.
The location was fantastic - close to wineries and restaurants.
Ian was also an amazing host. He was very helpful and responsive.
Overall we would stay at the place again, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy, private getaway in a great area.
So glad you guys enjoyed your stay with us. Mother Nature sure wanted to make things difficult be we managed to get things in order after all the snow. We hope to see you again in the future at one of our cottages.
Great relaxation time in a calm environment
My boyfriend and I had a relaxing and romantic stay at falling waters retreat. The cottage was very homey and comfortable. We played some board games, watched a little TV and hung out in the hot tub. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with all the appliances we needed (except a cast iron pan but we bought one) however the cleanliness of the coffee pot made us not use it because even after a thorough cleaning ourselves there was some grime that we couldn't get past. The only thing that was a tad off putting about our stay was the smell of the water. Granted we were warned that well water was in use and to beware of the smell. But still we weren't prepared enough for the intense smell of sulfur every time water was ran. The smell was so strong it made us very uncomfortable showering and brushing our teeth (we used bottle water for our teeth) and is the only reason we probs wouldn't stay at this particular place again. However the falls from the kitchen window isn't a year round all the time thing which was totally cool. Communication with our host was also spotty at times. Although we might not stay at this particular cottage again or would definitely visit the town of Naples again. We went on a hike at the High Tor Wildlife Area and it was energizing and beautiful. I highly recommend the trail that leads to the bridge and the waterfall. Joseph's Market is a very cute place for delicious produce and fresh bread. We also visited Roots Cafe for dinner and the Redwood Restaurant for breakfast at the end of our stay. Both places are must visits. This vacation was a great reprieve from the city :)
Not as advertised
Nice place, but not well maintained at all in my opinion. Layers of rugs upon rugs to hide the stains (from pets I'm guessing), screens broken so you couldn't open windows on nice days. One small window air conditioner in living room to cool entire house so bedrooms were uncomfortable on hot nights so you had to use fans. Internet/WiFi was weak and kept going out (router located at other house on property). TV worked, then didn't (we bought new batteries for remote which worked for a day, we believe it was the remote itself). Lovely spot, but needs a thorough spring cleaning, new flooring and some general maintenance and it would be as the video shows it. We were disappointed.
Beautiful falls/ clean cottage
The cottage was very nice, clean, well stocked with everything from sheets, towels, kitchen items, games and puzzles! Due to recent rain the falls were running and were perfect! Lots of wild life too. If there’s any complaint at all it would be the WiFi. While we didn’t really need it a lot and it didn’t hurt to disconnect for a week if you’re on a working vacation it could be a problem but then again I think you’d have the same issue anywhere you’d stay that’s off the beaten path. I’d stay here again and recommend it others!
Relaxing getaway nestled in the woods
The house is nestled in the hillside, surrounded by woods. It's very relaxing. Lovely big picture windows keep the view front and center. The hot tub is a nice touch. The waterfall wasn't running when we arrived, but an overnight rain got it going -- a lovely sight to wake up to and enjoy at the kitchen table while having coffee. A couple of little hitches along the way, but the owner is very quick to respond. The only negative would be the sulfur smell of the well water. If you've never experienced that before, it will take you by surprise. Bring your own drinking water. The town and surrounding area is terrific. Monica's Pies, Inspire Moore winery, and Roots cafe are musts!
Thanks for your review and glad you enjoyed the area while you where at our home. Just a quick note we have repaired our water system and the odor is no longer an issue with the water . Hope to see you again at one of our places .
A peaceful getaway
We were two adults and our two college-aged kids in sore need of a relaxing getaway from work and school. Ian and Jen's place felt like a "home," not a hotel. It was cozy and clean, with plenty of linens and dishes. Communication from Ian was very good. Please note that the house does smell sulfuric due to the well water, but that was something we were familiar with and it didn't bother us. We all really enjoyed the little breakfast nook overlooking the waterfall, and everyone slept very well in the quiet. (As quiet as the woods can be-- loved the loud bull frogs!) The waterfall didn't really get going until our last day, when it was raining, but it was so pretty once it started. We never did get the internet to work, either, which turned out all right. We bonded, played some board games, hung out in the hot tub, had some camp fires, and none of us was able to secretly check our work email. Definitely check out Roots Cafe in Naples, and go for a hike in Grimes Glen. (Bring bug spray!) Thanks again for the terrific stay!
