About Bob Giroux

Owners have lived in Alaska for over 40 years and are a semi-retired couple who travel expensively in the 'Lower 48' but continue to call Alaska 'home'. During the summer they enjoy spending time on the Kenai River fishing for Alaska salmon. During the fall they enjoy the Adirondacks in NY where they have a small cabin on the Ausable River. The winters are spent mainly in Florida avoiding the cold snowy weather they have enjoyed all those years. They maintain a small apartment over the garage at said property for when they are in Anchorage.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. We spent Thanksgiving week here with our family-11 of us all together. There was plenty of room to be together and have our own space also. The home was very clean and had enough kitchen items to serve our family.

Fantastic time for our group of seven.

We loved the house and especially the property. The backyard is phenomenal, we loved the secluded feel and privacy. Bob, the owner, stopped by and visited and since no one was booked for the day we were checking out he offered us a late checkout. We didn’t need a late checkout as we had a cruise to make. An appreciated overture though. The only issue we encountered is the lack of water pressure in the showers. It took quite some time for the ladies to rinse their hair.

The 3 ½ baths made for easy mornings when we were all getting ready for our day. The large kitchen, with huge refrigerator, double oven and microwave was the perfect place for gathering, cooking and eating meals. We would definitely stay there again.

The perfect vacation home!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time we rented this home in Anchorage.

The home is very large and perfect for big groups. Located in South Anchorage where there is plenty of shopping and good restaurants.

Within walking distance to the Anchorage Zoo. Bob the home owner is very good at responding to phone calls. We will be returning to Anchorage in a few months, and will be using this home then.

Very spacious, beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We recently took a family vacation to Alaska and stayed in this fabulous house. There were 7 of us and there was plenty of room for our needs. We each had our own bedroom which allowed us privacy. The outside area has a large deck and big grill for cooking an entire meal for a large family. The owner was staying in his apartment over the garage and greeted us as we arrived and was there for us to answer any questions. His directions to the house made driving to the house very easy. There was plenty of kitchen items plus many spices for our cooking needs. The only recommendation I would make (and this is not a criticism) is that the microwave cooks very slow and probably needs replacing. I would recommend this beautiful home to anyone for a trip to Alaska.

Absolutely Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This is just a beautiful home. We would highly recommend staying here. We’ve stayed in numerous VRBOs around the country and this one is right at the top of the list. It is clean, comfortable, and spacious. The bedrooms have comfy beds and nice linens. The bathrooms are clean and tidy, and well-supplied with lots of extra towels for busy days. The kitchen has a special warmth to it—spacious for cooking and dining--and includes all the amenities. There’s a deck and barbecue and a great big yard for kids of all ages to run and play. The host, Bob, was gracious and helpful and we think he and his family are very generous sharing their beautiful home with travelers.

The location is terrific. The Alaska Zoo is right across the street. Hiking trailheads, parks for the kids to play, baseball fields, grocery stores—all only a short drive away. Great starting point for tourist points south toward Whittier and Seward or north toward Hatcher Pass.

Our family of ten, spanning three generations, was blessed, surprised, and delighted at the beautiful accommodations. Everyone loved our home away from home. This is a great place—thank you, Bob, for your part, in our wonderful family trip to Alaska!
