Guestbook comments from the owner

We were so glad to have found your cabin online-it is just perfect for a getaway. We especially enjoyed the front porch, which provided a great place to play music and read. The cabin is everything we had hoped for and was just what we needed for a relaxing and restful vacation. The wild turkeys were an extra treat!

Thank you for allowing us to come in a day early....this was so much better than a hotel. We especially thank you for your hospitality and for being so accommodating!

We share pictures with our friends and family at home. So, hopefully they will want to enjoy the cabin as much as we did.

Thank you so much. Great way to spend our 40th Wedding Anniversary!

Tommy and Jean.

Sarah's Song, as the cabin is named, is a kit cabin of solid wood that is both quaint and clean. The owner is extremely helpful and readily advises on the working aspects of the cabin. The owner lives close by and should you need anything is very helpful. However, if you do not need anything you would not know they are there. We could not be HAPPIER with our visit! We have rented many cabins in the Great Smokies of the Carolina's, and this cabin has by far exceeded our expectations! Are you a student or business person who needs the internet? Have you ever rented a cabin only to sit at McDonald's because the internet is so slow it is moving backwards? The Internet here is so fast I could compare it to my Time Warner service at home. Everything you could need from groceries to reasonable gas prices are extremely close by, within a couple miles.

The cabin is a little cluttered because many other tenants have left some things behind, but the owner does not remove these items as she hopes the next tenant might enjoy them. At first, I was a little worried about the late June heat, but a very kind natural breeze is almost constant most likely from the positioning of the cabin. It is almost as if that was the plan when it was built. The breeze alone makes me want to return to sit on the porch and enjoy the evening air. There is no hot tub for winter use, but we did not care for one.

If you are looking for a very nice place to stay that is located within five minutes of the lake, has a smorgasbord of wonderful sounds and delicate breezes, then you have found a diamond in the rough. It was hard for me to write this because I am not sure I want people to know about it, it might be hard for me to book it when I want it again!

Owner's Response: Hey guys, I just now saw your wonderful assessment of my cabin! Thank you so very much for your kind words. You are the great guest that any owner would fight over to keep. When you left I could not even tell that you had been there. Honestly, cabin owners would fall all over themselves to get and keep a guest of your caliber. But they can't have you! I saw that you are considering booking in September. That is wonderful! I am looking forward to having more great conversations on my relaxing porch. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay in the area as it is simply marvelous. I have lived here most of my life and I continue to be mesmerized by the gorgeous mountains that surround our beautiful county. I hope on your next getaway you can enjoy more of the falls, the mountains and of course the lake. Thanks so much for coming to my little cabin and sharing some of your experiences. I really enjoyed your stay! Respectfully yours, Judie Gunter

Peaceful cozy retreat

  • 5 of 5

Little cabin in the woods! Judie was a wonderful hostess -- responsive and welcoming but not obtrusive. The cabin is well appointed with fresh linens, a fully stocked kitchen (I cooked dinner and baked an apple crisp), front porch chairs facing the direction of sunset, and a fireplace with newly cut wood and kindling for a lovely evening fire. Lots of easily accessible nearby hiking trails as well as a nice restaurant and brewery in Morganton made for a wonderfully relaxing weekend getaway! Thanks Judie!

Owner's Response: Hi laura, Thanks so much for the wonderful review. I am so glad you and your friend enjoyed the cabin and the area. You guys were great fun and I enjoyed getting to know you. I am so proud of the way you took such good care of the cabin. Thanks for the tip about the brewery in Morganton. I knew they had a winery but didn't know they had a brewery. The guests will love getting this information. Should you ever come this way again I hope you will use my cabin once more. . It would be really nice to see you again. Take care, Judie

Little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

Really cute all wood cabin. Immaculate inside and out. Hostess was very gracious. When we arrived on Christmas Eve, she had even put up a little tree in the living room. How thoughtful. Truly enjoyed our stay. Saw deer right out the back. Secluded, but not far from town. Nice spot.

Peaceful retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed using this cabin very much. Judie (the owner) is very conscientious and kind. The cabin was cozy and clean and what we expected. We pretty much stayed on the lake during the day. The cabin has a nice pull in and out driveway for ease of towing a boat etc. Also, if you don't own your own boat the State Park offers kayak, paddle board and boat rentals which is about 15 minutes away. We came back in the evening to a peaceful porch, grilled a nice dinner and relaxed while enjoying the deer and the sound of a distant train whistle. We have already recommended this to family and friends

peaceful place

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Judie was accommodating and kind and was available if any questions arose. Our goal was to be close to the lake and we were able to find at least 3 places within 15 minutes or so to put our boat in and the cabins driveway is convenient when towing a boat or other water toys. We spend most of our days on the water and came back to the cabin long enough to use the nice grill and relax on the porch, watch deer and listen to an occasional train whistle off in the distance. We would certainly use this cabin again and have recommended it to family and friends.
