You are not going to find a shoreline filled with beach umbrellas and chairs — just wide open sand to walk in solitude and observe nature. Hilton Head Island is shaped like a foot with the sole of the foot on the Atlantic Ocean. We are located on the heel of the foot as the Atlantic turns up into the Port Royal Sound. If you look out to the right, you see the Atlantic ocean. If you look to the left, you see the Port Royal Sound. Because we are located where the land mass turn inward, we do not have the large waves for surfing and playing in the ocean but if you want to play in the ocean, there are several beaches within a short drive or bike ride away. The beach is more suitable for beach combing, walking, biking, fishing, wildlife observation, and digging for clams. It is the perfect place for small children who don’t care for large, strong waves and who like to collect sand dollars and shells. You will be able to see herons, egrets, fiddler, hermit and sand crabs and maybe even sea turtle hatchlings on your evening stroll along the coast.
The villa is just minutes away from public beach access points if you prefer a more traditional beach to frolic in the waves. There are over 60 miles of public pathways and nature trails for biking. Local bike rental services can drop off and pick up bike rentals.
You will find several grocery stores, many unique shops, a new mall, chain stores and various types of restaurants within a few miles of the resort. The Tanger Outlet Mall is just a short drive back over the bridge to the mainland.
Over 20 public championship golf courses are ready to provide an enjoyable experience for golfers of all abilities. Since the birth of its first course in 1961, Hilton Head Island has grown into what Golf Digest readers have named No. 10 on its list of the world's best golf resorts.
***We are located on the second floor which requires one and a half flights of stairs... which are a breeze... but wanted to make sure any wheelchair or elderly concerns are noted as well as small children that might need to be carried. There are no elevators at The Spa.***
