I am a PUSD high school teacher in Poway, my husband is a mechanical engineer at Solar Turbines. We grew up in Orange County and live in San Diego for over 20+ years. We love the outdoor, hiking, biking, splunking and birdwatching. Our children go to school at UCLA, Cal Poly SLO engineering, and TBES.
Owner/Manager purchased this House in 2010
Why Owner/Manager chose Borrego Springs
We like Borrego Springs for many reasons. It a place of quiet and serenity. You can leave all your busy, hectic schedules and to-do list behind, and reflect / re-energize our battery. We wanted a place for our children to enjoy the great outdoor. Our kids love to watch the stars. You can see the Milky Way on a clear night with your naked eye. They go hiking in the Wind caves, Font's Point, and Palm Canyon and rock digging at Salton Sea. Borrego is a secret gem of San Diego. In the Spring, the sand verbena covers the desert floor. It is a mecca for flowers and butterfly lovers. The people of Anza are super friendly! Everyone knows your name. The Spring wildflowers dotted our scenery in hues of yellow (brittle bush), pink (prickly pear), orange (ocotillos) and purples (smoke trees).
What makes this House unique

Such an wonderful place to make a temporary home. Thank you so much for a perfect stay.
Nice home, good location
A good choice in Borrego Springs - a fairly new home, well equipped (with a few exceptions such as no decent bbq and uncomfortable furniture).
Price was right
This home is located in a quiet neighborhood. The price was right. However, we could not give it 5 stars. The rugs in kitchen were very dirty (and not washable.) Apparently the owners use the place sometimes when it is not rented, as there was quite a bit of food in the freezer—ice cream, a roast, open bags of ice, etc. We are accustomed to refrigerators/freezers that may have a few leftover condiments, but we felt a little uncomfortable with so much of someone else’s food in there. We stripped the two beds we used before we left, and neither bed had a mattress pad/cover. The mattress on one bed (my friend did not look at her bed) had several stains that were yellow in color. We never did get the cable to work on the TV in the living room. The instructions the owner sent didn’t work, but when we emailed to tell her that, she didn’t provide any further suggestions. Also, the smoke detector in master bedroom was “tweeting” the first morning as though it needed a new battery. We emailed the owner about it, because we couldn’t find a ladder in the house to change the battery ourselves. To her credit, she drove from her home an hour and a half away to change the battery and left a ladder for us. But the detector “tweeted” off and on during our stay. Owner stated that happens when bugs or dust get in there. We were just glad it didn’t happen at night while we were trying to sleep. Overall, this rental was acceptable but we would probably try a different one if we return to Borrego Springs.
We enjoyed this lovely house! Wonderful location...nice and secluded. (We saw only 1 car pass by during our stay.) The house was so comfortable, well-equipped, and stocked with extras such as games and toys. It was very clean. And there is a wonderful view from the window looking south--- the desert (no structures) as far as you can see. The fire pit in the backyard was a bit hit. Every night, we sat out under the stars, in the quiet, around the fire pit. It was lovely. We'd like to stay again. Thanks.
Lost in silence
I took my three children and our dog and enjoyed the vastness, colors, foliage, critters, starry skies, blazing sunsets and so quiet , I could here my heart beat. The house was open, clean and in iting. We truly enjoyed our time.
Perfect location for a few days in the desert...
We (two couples plus 2 kids at an age of 1.5 and 3.5) truly enjoyed our 4 day stay in your 'Borrego dig'. We also enjoyed the southwest / pueblo revival architecture which seems to be the most appropriate in such an desert environment. The house is very spacious with an open floor plan, well furnished and had all of the necessary amenities: a well supplied kitchen (the little things you usually forget like salt, pepper and other spices were even available), nice baths, and a WiFi that works well. We can not comment on the TV as we never switched it on.
The neighbourhood is peaceful and very quiet and the unobstructed views (there is only one close neighbour to the north west) of the surrounding mountains for the colourful sun set, the blinking stars on the very dark sky at night and the stunning sunrise in the morning were awesome.
There are obviously a few desert critters around so you need to keep an eye on the kids...
The property was exactly as described (there seems also to be a dishwasher in the kitchen but strangely we were not able to locate it ;-). The home was clean and well-maintained. The owners were very responsive to our few questions.
Our Borrego dig is located in the Estates of Borrego Springs. The one story fort style house has a breath taking panoramic view of Indian Head, Font's Point, and the Ocotillos forest. You have seclusion of desert, yet 5 minutes to Christmas circle, restaurants, and the Mall.
