Aside from managing my family's rental property, I am a part-time Physical Therapist for my community's school system. In addition, I have two teenage daughters who play sports. Like many people, we are very busy and treasure our family vacation time together. We understand this time is very important to our guests as well. We work hard to minimize issues and we partner with on-island property management. I will be your personal point of contact throughout the booking process and during your stay. Please take a moment to look at our 60+ 5-Star reviews.

Why Erin chose Vanderhorst Plantation
We love Kiawah! My family has been coming here since the mid 90's. We often travel with large groups, other family members, friends, young children and grandparents. We wanted to build a home close to the beach that would accommodate these groups. The design incorporates large gathering spaces but also private areas to get away and relax. The spacious layout with the main house and guest house centered around the pool is perfect for this.
What makes this House unique
This is a family run business and we take personal pride in making sure all of our guests have a wonderful time. We are constantly making improvements, most recently we've added custom twin xl bunk beds, KitchenAid appliances, a 75" Sony 4K Smart TV and Sonos Home Theater system, great for movie night. As I mentioned, the home has a perfect layout for large groups and we are close to the beach. I hope you will consider our home for your next visit to Kiawah! -Erin

Relaxing and Spacious House for a Fun Family Vacation
Our extended family of 7 adults and 3 kids came to Kiawah for a week in April from ME, MA, and NY. We happened to be in Kiawah when temperatures were 20 degrees cooler than they usually are at this time of year, but despite the cold and rain the first few days of the trip, our 3 kids were in the pool all day long! The pool was clean and heated so that on those cold days it felt like a hot tub! The rest of the week offered up the warm and dry weather we had anticipated, so we rented bikes and pedaled the many miles of nature trails that you can hop on at the end of the street! We often biked to the beach and along the beach The kids loved searching for alligators over every bridge while spotting other incredible birds and wildlife in the process. Aside from one day trip to Charleston, we cooked in the large and well-stocked kitchen almost every meal and made good use of the grill. The adults all commented on how comfortable the beds were, and the neighborhood was so quiet that we all slept soundly! The guys went golfing one day, and we took the kids to the Nature Center on a few occasions where there is also a field and playground. The house had board games for both the adults and kids, which we used all week in the evenings after dinner. We spent a lot of time in the house but never once felt on top of each other (the pictures don't really show just how big the house is!). Two people in our group had to work remotely for a few days, which they did comfortably in the office off of one of the bedrooms and in the den/office off of the kids' bunkroom. The house gave us exactly what we were looking for-- a beautiful and comfortable place to spend quality time together. One warning is that it takes a few days to get used to the alarms on the doors leading to the pool. With our very busy 2 year-old running around, I appreciated the security feature, but it did get annoying at times with the alarms going off when someone either forgot or didn't fully shut the door, or held it open too long while bringing in groceries, etc. We had a great trip and would love to come back again!
Wonderful stay with family and friends!
This home is the perfect place for multiple families and adult kids with friends. The guest house was perfect for my older kids and their friends. And my younger nephews loved the bunk room. The main house was comfortable, clean and very well-equipped with everything we needed for a fun stay. The living areas are great for entertaining (we had Easter brunch with another family) and the courtyard/pool was the perfect place to start the day with a book and coffee or enjoy happy hour after a day at the beach. We couldn't have been more pleased with the home's amenities. The home's proximity to the beach - - it's just a two minute bike ride to the bike path that leads directly to the beach (5 minutes total) - - is one of its best qualities. Erin is an attentive and thorough property owner. She made sure that we had everything we needed. She even left us a cute welcome gift with local Charleston treats. We will definitely be back!
Perfection for Large Family Vacation
We started going to Kiawah when our children were young, renting first, then purchasing a villa. Now it was so special for our daughter and son to come back with their families and share their memories!
We immediately knew that this luxury, well equipped home was in a great location for the beach and bike trails. The house layout is perfect and the attached guest house was wonderful for everyone to have their space. The chef kitchen was a delight to work in, and the heated pool which is protected on three sides, was so comfortable to spend time in the sun!
Erin was wonderful to work with and could not have been more helpful. Everyone is ready to come back again next year!
Charles & Claire,
I’m so glad you enjoyed the layout of the house! We designed it with multiple families in mind so it's great to hear positive feedback from our guests. Especially from a family who knows Kiawah so well! We'd love to have your family return for another stay next year.
Great place to stay!
This was a beautiful home. The perfect size for our large family. Thank you!
Amazing HUGE House- Perfect for large groups
This is my second time staying at this property and I found it in pristine condition with some attractive upgrades since my last visit. As someone who likes to cook, I could not have been more thrilled with the top of the line appliances and gadgets in the kitchen- it is a chef's dream! I could find anything at all I needed including a kitchen aid mixer, cuisinart, blender, juicer, and even a margarita machine!
The bedrooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. The bedrooms each have an adjoining bathroom and were all spotless upon our arrival. The upstairs bedroom off a second TV/game room is perfect for families with children- the new bunk beds with a full flight of stairs will be a thrill for the little ones.
While on the island, we enjoyed use of the beach cruiser bicycles (all in great condition) and rode them to the beach and up the beach a short way to the famous Ocean Course golf course which was even more beautiful in person than in photographs. We had a drink and appetizers and watched the sun set over the Atlantic ocean from the clubhouse.
The drive from Orlando was easy and other friends arriving via the Charleston airport from locations all over the US remarked on how close and easy the airport access was. They arrived at the house within an hour of touchdown!
Communication with the owners was a delight! Any question I had was answered promptly by Erin who always seemed happy to help.
What a great place for a relaxing getaway! I look forward to visiting again soon.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We're happy you enjoyed the house and thought the kitchen was a dream to cook in. Also, I'm glad to hear the rental company I referred you to provided nice bikes. We would love to have you stay with us again!
Great house location perfect for multiple families
We loved this home! The pictures are beautiful but it looks even better in person. The layout with the main house and guest house around the pool was perfect for our group. There are large rooms for group gatherings but also plenty of space for alone time. The kitchen is large and by far the most well equipped of any home we've rented. The kids loved the built-in bunk beds. The location is great, short walk or bike ride to the beach. Erin was very responsive and great to work with. What else can I say? We can't wait to come back next year.
