Overview

About the property

Lakefront Home With 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (+ 2 Sleeping Lofts!)

The house, built in 1985, sits on a wooded lot above the lake. Once you arrive, drop your bags, open the french doors and walk onto the spacious screened-in porches surrounded by trees and mountain laurel. You can hear the waterfall flowing at the end of the cove… breathe-in fresh mountain air and let your vacation begin!

Overall, we think this home sleeps 6 adults comfortably with 3 double beds in private rooms. There is also a bunk room and 2 sleeping lofts. PLEASE NOTE: the lofts are not ideal for younger children because of the height and vertical ladders.

The upper level has a kitchen, dining/living area, screened porch, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, bunk room for 4 and 2 separate sleeping lofts. The lower level has a bedroom, bathroom, large comfortable living area with television, Wii, games/books, bunk beds and an adjacent laundry room. French doors lead to a screened porch with a ping pong table and corn hole boards.

Dozens of steps through the trees will take you down to the 2-level boathouse, which is stocked with floats and canoes. There is very little boat traffic in this cove — an ideal situation for swimmers. Hall’s Marina is just across the lake and visible from the boathouse.

There is parking for 3 cars. PLEASE NOTE: the driveway is very steep. Drivers will probably want to put their vehicle in a low gear. This is not an ideal driveway for large vans or trailers. (Please take this into consideration before making travel plans.)

Lakemont shopping area is an 8 minute drive. Hall’s Marina, Rabun Inn and Louie’s on the Lake are an 8 minute drive (or an even shorter boat ride). Clayton — with good dining spots — is approximately 20 minute drive. Explore nearby state parks, waterfalls, hiking trails, orchards and wineries or stay at home enjoying the beauty of Lake Rabun!

About Wendy Binns

Our family lives in Atlanta and, as new lake homeowners, are already enjoying the nature and break from city life. Some of our favorite activities are big lunches on top of the boat house and canoe rides. We love seeing turtles peek out of the water and have had fun looking for the family of ducks in the cove (we've named them Margarita, Chips & Salsa).

Wendy Binns purchased this house in 2015

Why Wendy Binns chose Lakemont

The mountains, trees, mountain laurel and, of course, the gorgeous water drew us to The Fish Camp.

What makes this house unique

The cove really offers a peaceful place to float and swim. We drift for hours! And, there are so many comfortable spots for reading and unwinding all through the house. At night, the screened porches are ideal for lingering and listening to nature.

Excellent!

We spent New Year week at this house and everyone had an amazing time. A beautiful and very quite place, plenty of rooms, amazing views, everything you need. Wendy and her husband were very helpful. We would love to go back in the Summer.

Great place; Better than it reads.

  • 5 of 5

This is a very comfortable home with many fun things to do in the area and at the house. The property has a great mountain and lake feel at the end of the cove with a waterfall. The decks are great. It includes two long screened decks and then an outdoor deck section that has a private feel to it. We didn't have time to play with all the toys like the Wii and the canoes because the area has fun places to visit. We hiked Tallulah Falls and drove over to Helen for the German experience. It has 4 bedrooms, the 4th with 4 bunk beds. Then, in the downstairs den it has two nice bunk beds. One bedroom downstairs shares its bath with the den but it has plenty of doors for that purpose. Only one bedroom has a private bath. It also has two neat loft spaces with low beds which could work for kids. I like it because it has some warmth to the property and there are different places to go within the house for ping pong, or corn hole, or even to go hide on a deck section. If you were to go there in snow or ice you probably need at least 2-wheel drive just for the final 100 yards to the place. The kitchen table has good size (6) but you have to bring in extra seats from the desk chairs - which is not a problem. We sat 11 at one time easily. Satellite is excellent for TV. wifi a little slow but it is a vacation place and it does work well enough. We've stayed at about 10 houses over the years for Thanksgiving all over the TN, NC mountain area and this is near the top of the list.

Wonderful house on lake Rabun. The kids had a blast and loved the sleeping lofts and ample entertainment. We loved the view and the sound of the nearby waterfall. The owner was super helpful and we highly recommend this house.

Wonderful Lake House for a Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 14 stayed a week in this wonderful place. We had plenty of room for dining, talking, playing games and sleeping. There was room and games for the kids to entertain themselves. It was great. We have rented places on the lake for years and this was one we hope to rent again.

Wonderful Lake Home!

  • 5 of 5

We had so much fun at this house on the lake. We have been going to Lake Rabun for 17 years and this, by far, has been the best house we have ever stayed in. Wendy, the owner, was so nice right from the very beginning to the end of our vacation. I didn't want to leave this cabin! We will certainly be back. Honestly, I didn't want to leave this review because I wanted to keep it our little secret - but couldn't do that to the best owner we've ever dealt with! 😂 This cabin is amazing and has everything you could possibly need or want in a vacation home.
