Thank you for considering us. Again sorry for your loss. Safe travels.
The house was wonderful. So many thoughtful touches, water in every bedroom, full coffee service, robes and slippers, more towels than we could have used. It was lovely with beautiful touches throughout the home. Lots of historical significance there and the story of the home was shared on a table by the front door. We will definitely stay there again if in the area to visit family!

Thank you for sharing your experience and hope to have you and your family stay with us again soon. Safe travels!
This is an ideal location for a family reunion held at the Lewisville community park. It was close enough that when the power went out throughout the town, we were able to take our food to the shelter house and cook it there since they had a generator!!! Everyone had a great time at the Newhouse Inn!

Thank you staying with us again. Looking forward to your next visit.
Stayed here to be close to New Castle Motorsports track. It was less than 10 minutes away. Which was perfect. The hosts were perfect, the communication was perfect. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. We plan on staying again.
We had a wonderful stay in this historic school house. All details were thought about by the owners - robes, slippers, breakfast items to make our stay just perfect.

We came to the area from Washington State for our aunt's 100th birthday in nearby Knightstown. This home was perfect. My 85 year old mother found the bed very comfortable, and the house was stocked with everything you would need. John was so responsive and pleasant. We would recommend this home to any family, and feel grateful there was such a nice place so close to the birthday party!

The Newhouse Family Inn was a perfect place for our family of 6 to gather. We especially enjoyed the well stocked kitchen - coffee and bottled water were appreciated! Books, games, DVDs, robes and slippers were a nice added touch! Quick communication with the owner made the process easy. Thanks for a great stay!

Thank you so much for your kind words. Happy holidays! Hope to see you again soon.
The history behind the house is very unique and interesting. Slippers, robes, and bottled water were a very nice touch. As well as the games and books. We were in town for the basketball tournaments going on at the New Castle high school. The house is just a short drive and fit our needs perfectly.

Thank you Tammy for staying with us. You took great care of the Inn as if it was your own home. Hope to see you again soon.
Pretty good stay, would give higher rating if there where no locked doors in the bedrooms leading to other parts of the house. Who is gonna feel safe leaving children in bedrooms like that? These same rooms are great for adults though.

I’m sorry about the locked doors, storage rooms are kept locked because the guests do not need to have access to them. The other door is locked from both sides for added security for our guests. Thank you for staying with us and I do hope you will stay with us if you are traveling this way again.
We were visiting my younger sister who just purchased a condo in New Castle so we wanted to stay nearby. My mom traveled with me and my two kids (5 and 13). The house was perfect as my mom had her own space and we could all spread out. Everything was well stocked and the kids loved the games. My mom enjoyed the bedroom with the attached bathroom. Definitely a perfect place for future visits and big enough to bring my husband and other sister along with too. Thank you!

Exceptionally charming home, so thoughtfully prepared!
My wife, teenage son, and I have visited many Vrbo properties, but this one stands out for its charm and the property manager's attention to detail. The photos of the interior don't do it justice; every room - including the kitchen - is filled with memorabilia that seems plucked from a movie set. (The difference is that these items are authentic rather than staged.) Additionally, the host's attention to detail is wonderful - there are instructions and courtesies everywhere, down to water bottles placed on both sides of every bed. We had a wonderful stay, and look forward to returning.

About the host
Hosted by John Newhouse
My home town is Rushville Indiana. I love the small town atmosphere and the town of Rushville was just that. I did spend most of my adult life in California but when the opportunity came up to move back we did. This has been a dream of ours to retire and run an Inn. We love meeting new people and learning about their own adventures in life.
Why they chose this property
When we saw this property for sale and found out about its history it was a great fit. It just felt right and it is only 20 miles away form my home town. Lewisville is a great small town and great people live here. Just far enough from the big city, Indy but close enough to drive there in less than an hour.
What makes this property unique
My wife and I just love the history of the home. Built in 1897 as the Lewisville School House, it still has that feel of the school and the history behind it. It is one of the largest 2 story red brick homes in town with a very large 1 acre land scape. You can sit in the yard and watch the sun rise or set.
