About Dave and Bonnie

Dave and Bonnie, we are from Florida and just fell in love with Firefly Cabin. It's so quiet, great escape from the heat and humidity. Dave grew up in New Hampshire, Bonnie in Washington state, we did not realize how much we missed the mountains, trees and the change of seasons until we started visiting North Carolina.

Quite often my good friend Rhonda joins us. She loves the hiking and fishing as much as we do. She is in our owner picture.

Why Dave and Bonnie chose Murphy

You feel like your in the mountains even though your very close to Murphy, Blue Ridge and Blairsville. Every trip we see more animals. Last trip be saw a bobcat, we always see deer, occasionally we see raccoons, and the fat squirrel is most always there. Still have not seen a Bear, but we have heard tell they are in the area. All you need is bag of deer corn and a suet block for the bird feeder to draw in the wildlife.

What makes this cabin unique

Quiet and peaceful, enjoy the quite, read, watch a movie, just talk. There is full internet service, but you can turn it off.

Beyond our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

By far the nicest cabin I have stayed at. Not only was the view nice, but the size of the cabin and everything it came with was too. The master bedroom with personal bathroom was perfect and the flatscreens in every room was a nice touch. I really enjoyed sitting on the porch every morning, drinking my coffee, and enjoying the view. Bonnie was also a huge help as well, she responded to all emails and provided us with all infor necessary. I would definitely book and stay again!!

Fabulous Vacation Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this cabin for 5 nights and absolutely loved it!!! It is beautifully decorated and so comfortable--we didn't want to leave. Bonnie and Dave provided detailed driving instructions to the cabin, including pictures which really helped. My husband is an excellent cook, so we usually prefer to eat at home, and the kitchen had everything we needed and more. The cabin is nestled in the woods and during our stay, we saw deer, foxes, squirrels and birds. We enjoyed visiting Murphy and checking out real estate opportunities in this beautiful area. We loved this cabin and will definitely stay here again!

Nice, modern clean and comfortable cabin.

  • 5 of 5

Great stay. Did have a problem finding as small address sign blends right in w/the surrounding woods and written directions from property manager were ambiguous. Driveway is a little steep. Small inconveniences that this cabin more than makes up for!!!

Owner's Response: The road can feel steep for those of us from the flat lands, good thing is you don't need 4 wheel drive. Good suggestion on the sign, we wanted to get a bigger sign made with the cabin name. We will work on that.

Beautiful Home!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! My daughter (7) had wanted to stay in a hotel room, but was awed by the cabin and quickly changed her mind. Everything was perfect! The furniture and beds were so comfortable. We had come to Murphy to enjoy a day of fishing. We rented a pontoon from Shook's Marina and spent the day on the lake. When we got back to the cabin, we were sitting in the living room about 6:30pm when we noticed a cute little red fox that came right up to the edge of the porch and just stood there looking at us, looking at him! We were thrilled to have the opportunity to be so close to something wild. I really have nothing negative to say, except that our stay was much too short! I really recommend this cabin and would gladly stay here again. Daniel,

Owner's Response: That's great to hear that the red fox is still hanging out at Firefly Cabin. The one thing I do hear over and over from our guests is they want more time at the cabin. Glad you had a great time, your very welcome to come back.

Beautiful, peaceful mountain chalet that boasts of comfort.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Firefly Chalet for his birthday week. This place is perfect for relaxation and comfort. The inside has pine walls, ceiling and floors which add to the feel of a country retreat. The king bed in the master was so comfortable. We could see mountains through the leaves on the trees, but in winter I am sure it is a great view. The area was private with hardly any sound from the neighbors. The road/driveway to the cabin is gravel, but the rest of the road is paved. All the furnishings were provided, including a grill on the porch where we grilled steaks on my husband's birthday. The kitchen has everything you need, with beautiful furnishings. The chalet is close to many towns with rivers, lakes, and streams all around. We love this cabin and hope to return again.

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We found the cabin very clean, which my wife enjoyed a lot. The kitchen is complete with anything you would want to prepare on holidays.

The location is great, very close to several towns which we loved. The weather helped us and had the fire pit going for smores at night.

This is a pretty cool cabin with details that make the stay easy and fun, we want to say thank you for letting us use it these days. Looking forward to go back when possible.
