Quintessential Coastal Maine Getaway
We wanted a quiet, secluded location with beautiful views to enjoy a rare week's vacation with our 3 grown children. Beach Haven was the perfect answer with 1 week not being near enough!!! The house has plentiful decking to enjoy views of the beautiful private beach (with fire pit), ocean birds fishing in the inlet, and fishing boats picking up lobster traps. At night we captured beautiful pictures of the sunset off the long dock and slept to the lapping sound of high tide and loons calling. The house was clean, spacious and bright. We cooked most of our meals and the kitchen had everything we needed - and more. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor gas grill. The dining area was spacious and had those beautiful ocean views. When we felt like being with a little more 'civilization', it was a short 10 min ride into quaint Port Clyde. This little town has a wonderful coffee & pastry shop, a general store that stocks most everything (including live lobsters and alcohol), and a kayak touring company. We took a 3 hour coastal kayak tour and saw bald eagles and porpoises! It was a short drive into Rockland for souvenir shopping and our choice of restaurants. The entire week was beautiful and relaxing. Many thanks to Jerry for making our week in St. George such a memorable experience!
We loved beach haven!! It was the perfect house and property for our family reunion! I highly recommend it!
Waterfront on Penobscot Bay amidst the pines and fall leaves.
We were just a senior couple and this home was suited for many more visitors. The location is private and setting on the waterfront was lovely. Weather permitted us to enjoy watching activities on the Bay while enjoying coffee outside and meals inside the enclosed dining area. All the features of the home operated well, we found it very clean and comfortable. We were able to spend lots of time exploring the local area in Camden, Rocklin, Rockport and other nearby inland places. We had a very nice, satisfying stay here and would return.
This place was amazing! It was difficult to find a rental that could comfortably accommodate 12+ people and Jerry was wonderful to work with. The house was beautiful, very spacious and amazing decks! But what really got us was the beach. It has a beautiful sandy beach, rare in Maine, and the dock was great to jump off for a nice swim. The location was great, too. Port Clyde is a great little town and Monhegan Island is just a quick ferry ride away. We all had a great time, the perfect place to kick back and relax!
Great family home for kids of all ages
Perfect family home with amazing beach and dock. Our family, with a 7 and 2 year old, had a great week enjoying the tide changes and days spent on the beach and dock. Nights spent relaxing on the patio enjoying an amazing view of the stars and silence of the water and area. Great location to be secluded but still be close enough to towns and things to do. Kitchen had all the cooking essentials we needed and the porch dining area provided a great space for our family to eat together. 5 adults and 2 kids had more than enough room. Fire pit is a great place to end your day of lobster eating. Everything we needed was right there, this location and house are a great get away.
A beautiful, unique property on the water
When I was searching out accommodations for our family of 10 in Maine's mid-Atlantic region annual vacation, my options were limited due to the inclusion of a dog in our party. When I found Beach Haven, there were zero reviews and I was hesitant to book a property no one had stayed at yet, but having spoken via email with the owner, I felt confident in placing our deposit and reserving our week. Communication with Jerry was smooth and prompt (even with the several hour time difference) leading up to our vacation, and I appreciated all of the information he shared with me beforehand. When we arrived at Beach Haven last Saturday my worry and trepidation was immediately put at ease as the home is spacious, welcoming, and spectacularly located. The images posted here do not do it justice. The master bedroom was the nicest master suite we've stayed in during the family trips to Maine, and the bed was so incredibly soft and luxurious. Many times when you rent a vacation property, you wind up sleeping on the cheapest, hardest mattress that was on sale at the time but that was not the case here. One of the issues we've run into in the past is how space in these larger beach homes in allocated but we all had plenty of room to spread out or hang out, whichever we preferred. We basically allotted the downstairs area to my sister's family and it was like they had their own apartment, complete with a TV room with Netflix and a large HD TV. My nephew was in heaven! Inside, the best part of the house was the open kitchen/dining area where we spent most of our time. The only downside I can list (and this is just me being nit-picky) is the need for at least one more frying pan to cook eggs and bacon at the same time. Outdoors, the rocky beach was a gem and we spent many hours there hanging out both by and in the water. Sunsets from the dock were STUNNING. If you're thinking of staying in Port Clyde and need a large, relaxing home, please consider Beach Haven.
We are so happy you and your family enjoyed your vacation at Beach Haven! The need for an additional frying pan has been duly noted and we've ordered another healthy non-stick pan.
