La cabaña de Northwoods está lista para sus vacaciones. Ubicada a 5 minutos del centro de Truckee, la cabaña de Northwoods es de 1500 pies cuadrados, con 3 dormitorios, 2 baños y un garaje para 2 autos. The cabin was lovely with many upgrades installed. The hosts were very accommodating, helping us with some special requests due to our old age. The only “disappointment” was that we thought that the cabin, due to the picture, was a bit more private. Certainly not a big deal.

Summer Solstice in Truckee

House was great. Spacious, great kitchen. Bedrooms were big and mattresses comfy. Nice bathrooms. Enough towels, sheets, pillows, and blankets. Just wish there was some patio furniture on the back deck to sit outside. Also it was a little confusing on how to turn on the fireplace. Otherwise we would come back again.

Perfect Basecamp

This was a perfect basecamp for our group. Big kitchen for home cooking, relaxing open floor plan. Single story was great for guests with limited mobility. Garage was priceless during the big snow storm. Easy access to mountain fun and Truckee shopping/dining. We will definitely stay again! Owners were extremely responsive and gracious hosts.

Clean, convenient, comfortable home

We had a lovely stay here in Feb 2025. The home is very clean, with plenty of extra bedding and new towels. The kitchen and bathrooms look like they’ve been updated fairly recently, and the open and airy kitchen/living room area was great for our family. It’s in a quiet neighborhood near Tahoe Donner ski resort, and there was plenty of space in the yard for the kids to play in the snow. There is a large primary bedroom suite with several large windows, but there are no window treatments so no privacy, and I can imagine it’s annoying if you’re trying to sleep past 6am in the summer. And I will say that the beds are VERY firm, so maybe bring mattress toppers if that’s not your preference. The home isn’t fancy, but it’s nice and clean and comfortable and I would stay there again.

Great place to stay for the price

Overall, we were very happy with the stay. The cabin is in a great location, clean and comfortable. This was especially important because we were snowed in for 2 days! The only issue was iciness on the raised pathway and steps from the garage to the house. However, David was extremely responsive. I think the fault actually lies with the property management company. It’s also a very snowy year.

Spacious cabin in Northwoods neighborhood of Truckee

The property was clean and spacious for our group of adults. The kitchen was well equipped and functional The owner provided ample description and pictures ahead of time of the snow around the area and potential challenges with arrival and getting around. We ended up having great weather and no issues getting in. Big thanks to everyone who had been shoveling to maintain the path through feet of snow!

Amazing

Beautiful atmospheric cabin, very cabin-y, kitchen had all we needed, bathrooms appear renovated recently, spacious garage for 2 cars, wide comfy driveway. Paintings / pictures everywhere were very enjoyable, even took photos of them:) loved french vintage armchairs!! Lots of space around the house itself for kids to play in snow no steep areas. Would love to stay there again!

Wonderful home by a wonderful host

Due to the floods and heavy snow, our host was super understanding with our travel situation. We loved our stay and the owner was so kind in helping us answering our questions. The home had a cabin vibe and was very clean. Loved it here!

An okay stay

Although the cabin was beautiful and in an excellent location, the maintenance of the actual cabin left much to be desired. Some towels were brand new, but others had multiple holes in the fabric with particles of the towel falling off. The plates in the cabin were old and scuffed, and there’s a lingering smell of mildew. There is no AC, which we knew prior to our stay, but screens would be helpful in staying cool and keeping bugs out at the same time. However, separately from all these unfortunate factors, our stay was pleasant

Spacious sunny unit but a lot of broken items

The unit was spacious, sunny, clean, well stocked with basics. However, there were abundant issues with broken or non functioning items, including fan, lights, windows, etc. You are required a high deposit or a nonrefundable payment for incidentals. Considering you had to pick one, there were a lot of damages at the property upon arrival.

Needs improvement

Upon walking in the house, it looks great. It’s a good size and has a nice mountain decor, but it was not stocked very well. They had only three washcloths for five ladies and we had to buy propane for the grill because it ran out before we put the meat on. There was no Kleenex and a low supply of toilet paper. There were some missing screens so we couldn’t open some windows…the main bedroom being the most important! The main bedroom mattress was very hard, but some folks like that. The frame on the other queen bed was cracked. We made do with what kitchen supplies there were, but it could have been better. There was no outdoor table to sit at on the deck. There is a small card table inside that could be used for a makeshift outdoor table I suppose. It really needs some TLC.

Enjoyable & convenient weekend in Truckee/Tahoe/Reno

If you drive an EV, this location is every convenient because there is an Electrify America just 10 minutes away at the local CVS. Charge once at night at EA to 80% and you have enough to do all your daytime activities. Otherwise, the next closest one in this area is in South Lake Tahoe. ( Note for the host -- an extension cord down from the garage ceiling power plug would be great for future EV travelers who want to slow-charge during the night. No worries for me -- I didn't bring my portable charger since I'm still in my free EA period. ) Our party had 2 familes ( parents + high school/college age kids ). Best part of the stay is having a large open space to hang out after hitting the hot activities during the day. Night time is refreshingly cool in the area during the summer.

Big cozy house good price, needs a little love.

We love the big cozy house and the layout is good. The area is great too. BUT, this poor house needs a little bit of TLC. It's obviously been a rental for a long time. The kitchen cabinets and drawers are super old and beat up. There were a few things broken like the toilet roll holder in master bath and the dvd player. Some lights not working and a lot of random junk stuffed in corners, drawers and closets, broken items, repair materials, myriad unused linens, uneeded decorations and some very bad amateur paintings and just random stuff. (most of the art was quite approriate, however) The place needs to be cleaned out and organized a bit! While a very nice house in general it just seems a little bit neglected as many rental units often do. Plus the master bath shower was not good, the old tile in there at least needs a very thorough cleaning and regrouting or really just replaced. We do realize that the unit was not as expensive as many other units in the area though.

Lovely Cabin for Winter Stay

Everything was just what we were looking for in this cabin. Spacious- lots of puzzles and books for the kids and family. Nice location close to town and rec areas. Communication with property manager was very fast.

Memorable Family Vacation

Spacious cabin with thoughtful amenities and decor. Comfortable for two families and the perfect base for travel to the local ski resorts, sledding and short trips to Reno if you want to try your luck. Owner David is responsive and attentive and worked with us tirelessly through the worst snow storm. Family loved the cabin and making new memories in this Winter Wonderland. Would wholeheartedly recommend and book this stay again.

We love the mountains. We enjoy downhill skiing, cross country skiing, hiking, playing on the lake, and just sitting on the deck (or on the couch looking out the windows at the beautiful snowy landscape!).
We bought our property so we can spend time together and with family.
