About this property
Lake Michigan Bluff Home on Tunnel of Trees with Game Room and Views
LAKE MICHIGAN BLUFF HOME WITH PANORAMIC VIEWS NEAR HARBOR SPRINGS
Built in 2006, this cottage-style home offers 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath, and approximately 2,400 sq ft of living space, providing plenty of room for families and multi - generation groups to spread out comfortably. The layout was intentionally designed with separate spaces for adults and children, allowing everyone to relax without feeling crowded.
The home features a distinctive vintage-modern aesthetic, blending retro charm with comfort. Shag carpeting, custom ceramic tile, detailed woodwork, and a curated mix of retro antiques and custom furnishings create a warm, memorable atmosphere while remaining functional and welcoming.
THE HOME The main great room includes an HD TV with Roku, a DVD player, and a DVD library, making it an ideal space for relaxed evenings after a day exploring the shoreline, hiking, or skiing.
The basement includes a pool table, board games, an HD TV with Roku, and a PlayStation 2 with games. This lower-level area provides a dedicated space for kids and teens while allowing adults to enjoy quieter time upstairs.
THE LOCATION The home is located directly on the famous Tunnel of Trees, one of Michigan’s most scenic drives and a favorite route for cyclists and fall color tours.
Set in Harbor Springs along Lake Michigan, the property offers a quiet, private setting with sweeping views and easy access to Northern Michigan’s most scenic coastal areas.
You're close to Petoskey, Charlevoix, Cross Village, the Inland Waterway, and the Straits of Mackinac. On clear days, you can even see Beaver Island from the property.
THE BLUFF AND SHORELINE Perched atop a 130-foot bluff, the home offers sweeping panoramic views of Lake Michigan. Filtered views are visible from the house, while completely unobstructed views can be enjoyed from the meandering bluffside staircase and secluded sun deck leading to the very private Lake Michigan frontage. Conditions permitting, guests can walk for miles along the shoreline without seeing another person, offering a rare sense of solitude and scale reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest.
Lake Michigan water levels and shoreline conditions change over time. Shore conditions vary by season and year and cannot be guaranteed. At times the shoreline may be rocky rather than sandy. Once in the water, there is typically a band of rocks followed by sandy bottom. Water shoes are strongly recommended and are well worth bringing.
SEASONAL NOTES Fireplace available Thanksgiving through April 1. For winter stays, an all-wheel-drive vehicle or front-wheel-drive vehicle with good snow tires is strongly recommended.
WHAT WE PROVIDE A starter supply of paper goods and soap products is provided and is typically sufficient for a three-night stay for smaller groups.

Wonderful place to stay with our family!! Clean, spacious with a beautiful view. Greatly enjoyed our morning walks. Ski hills were about a 20 minute drive. Host was quick to communicate. Would definitely enjoy a return visit
Just as advertised. Well stocked with most of the basics. Great private beach access, just gotta get used to the stairs! Really well built stair case and the patio 1/3rd of the way down is a great idea. Would definitely rent this house again.
Our first trip to Michigan and it was wonderful. The home was perfect. It stated it could sleep 14 & that seems a bit misleading. The children loved the private beach, we all did! We made use of everything.
This house offers many delights from the 1960s which was a lot of fun to puruse and prompted memories and stories. It's tasteful, imaginative, as well as functional and spacious for our multi-generational family trip. An A for the house, the decks, and stairs to a very special, private, and wild beach, not often available these days. A on the beach. This is our beloved northern Lake Michigan at its best.
House was accurately described and well appointed We loved being able to walk down to the beach although the stairs back up were tough. Located close to town and very peaceful.
Lots of great memories for our extended family of five adults and two kids.
I love it! It’s was very nice and roomy. Everyone had their own space to decompress after a long day. The wildlife around the property was amazing! Rabbits hanging out under the porch and deer in the backyard! Absolutely beautiful! We also met the neighbors next door and they were so kind!
Very cozy place with everything you need. Fire pit, grill, pool table, even the record player with tons of records. Close to all winter and summer activities so you can enjoy it all year around. Definitely will be staying there again.

I grew up going to Good Hart so it was fun for me to bring my family to the Tunnel of Trees. The house was great & perfect for getting us all together!
Wonderful stay in a lovely home. Nice setting in a wooded yard, with close access to beach front area. Very peaceful. Would highly recommend.

Why they chose this property
The Surf Cottage is on 4 acres of private land with 150' Lake Michigan frontage. The 'Tunnel of Trees' that our home is on was voted most picturesque road in Michigan by Travelocity.
What makes this property unique
The 1960's decor. We tried to make the home look and feel like a surfing cottage from the movies of that era.
