3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Private, Waterfront Property Close To Golf And Cavendish
Our spacious, well-appointed and secluded three bedroom chalet-style cottage offers an ideal relaxing getaway with a stunning view across the Southwest River in the picturesque fishing village of New London, 10 minutes from Cavendish National Park.
Our one-acre property boasts over 150 feet of south facing shoreline on the tidal Southwest River just a short distance from the mouth of the ocean.
The cottage itself is set back on a slope nestled among mature trees on each side affording our guests full privacy while still providing a gorgeous view of the river and valley from the living room, bedrooms and each of three large decks.
Our property has a 30 ft patio for lounging or eating. Guests have full access to our two sea kayaks. The front of the cottage faces to the South and as a result the property, deck and dock are blanketed with sunshine most of the day.
The cottage was fully renovated in 2005, including all new appliances and furnishings, fully renovated kitchen and bathroom, reclaimed pine flooring throughout — all carefully chosen to reflect a warm and inviting cottage ambiance.
We have new, high quality mattresses topped with quality cotton linens and summer-weight feather duvets, and have both bath and beach towels in good supply. Our bathroom is spacious and the claw foot tub is perfect for taking a leisurely soak at the end of the day but also boasts a wall mounted nozzle for showering.
We have outside lounge chairs and a picnic table for outdoor relaxation and dining. The cottage is equipped with a washer/dryer for guest's use as well as satellite television service, DVD/VCR player and of course a BBQ for outdoor cooking.
Location is central to many north shore attractions including golf, beaches, lobster dinners, and deep sea fishing.

About Colin & Jennifer Cochran
We are originally from Montreal and Toronto, but call Calgary, Alberta home now. We rented on the island in 2015, and fell in love with the place. After a bit of searching, we found this little bit of paradise on the South West river....
Colin & Jennifer Cochran purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Colin & Jennifer Cochran chose New London
The three level deck has south facing exposure, direct water access from the property. It is near everything: golf, Cavendish, Kensington, beaches, seafood, deep sea fishing etc. Yet, when you get there, it's like you are all alone, go for a swim in the water, and bake on the beach.
What makes this Cottage unique
Waterfront, swim, kayak, birdwatching (bald eagle nest on the property), fishing.

October 2017 Visit
Myself, my wife and our friends stayed at the cabin in October and really enjoyed our time. The cabin was very clean and well equipped, conveniently located just minutes off the highway. We especially enjoyed sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee watching the beautiful sunrise. It was also a treat to watch the bald eagles in their nest in the trees right between the cabin and the river. Kayaks were great as well to take a ride in the river and pick oysters along the shore. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a place to stay, you will not be disappointed!
we absolutely loved our stay. The pictures are exactly what the property looks like. Beautifully designed. Well located to tour the island. Wish we had booked longer than 3 nights!
Charming & Peaceful River Cottage
We stayed a week in this lovely cottage and loved our stay. Views from the multiple decks or the dock are all spectacular. Super relaxing yet also handy to restaurants, fish markets, Kensington and Cavendish. The river is calm enough to easily kayak (included along with life jackets).
Well stocked with all the basic amenities including WiFi and TV (although we didn't use that very often), comfy beds and living space.
Nothing beats having a morning coffee on the deck and taking in the spectacular view. Great way to start any day.
Thank you! We are greatful that you were able to enjoy the spot we love so much.
The cottage met our expectations
i would consider this location for future vacations.
Beautiful home in a perfect private spot
We stayed for 8 days and loved this home. First impressions were overwhelming excitement to have found this little gem in New London, and in fact gladly spent more down time there enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and scenery than I normally do on a vacation. I would definitely recommend bringing a hammock. I was so glad I did! The home was well stocked with necessities and the proximity to the water was so nice. In fact I had a perfect view of the water from my bedroom window. The two things that were (minor) issues worth mentioning are the stairs going down to the bedrooms/bathroom. They really could use a hand rail as they are somewhat uneven and you have to navigate them carefully. (I did a number on my toe one day) The other thing we noticed was a distinct musty smell all throughout the lower level (probaby not uncommon on an island and so close to water) but it affected one of my travel partners particularly. It aggrivated her allergies to the degree that she had to sleep upstairs on the couch or cough all night. I just kept a window open though and it wasn't really a problem for me. All in all I was very happy with this home and would stay there again.
Lots of space, great location!
We stayed 3 nights at this lovely little cottage in late June 2017. It was a lovely location!
Everything we could have needed was available to us in the kitchen, the kids loved having their own rooms, and the beds were all very comfortable. It is an older cottage, but it's age has been masqued well with some upgrades and renos.
The water access is not super usable. There are a couple kayaks to use (with lifejackets), but the water isn't really swimmable and the beach is rocky and weedy. We did love walking along looking for critters (crab shells, etc.) and other fun items that the tide brought in. The sunsets were beautiful!
The location is great, far enough from 'the world' but close enough to Cavendish, Kensington...everything you need within 15 minutes: beach, groceries, restaurants, etc.
The host was very easy to communicate with and everything was very clean and organized when we arrived. Thanks for a great stay!
