About Kristin Bergstrom

I am a Florida native born in Tampa and raised on the northern tip of Longboat Key. My parents moved to Long boat when I was a and built a restaurant/bar. We offered boat rentals and I learned to fish, boat and love the Gulf Coast waters at a young age. I spent my days helping in the family restaurant and spending as much time as possible outside climbing trees, swimming and exploring the bayous and passes and inlets of the Sarasota Bay. My childhood home was on the other side of the bayou this home lies on, and I have many memories of canoeing and swimming in the bayou and playing on the local beach.

I spent 10 years living in Sweden as my former husband was a Swedish sailor. I raised my daughters in the archipelago in Sweden but always felt the pull back to my native Florida.

I eventually moved back with my daughters and moved the original home onto this site and raised them in the historic village. When my daughters grew up and moved out, my adventurous spirit eventually took me down to Panama where I currently live half the time and own an inn built out over the water and I spend the other half the year on my family homestead in Longboat.

Kristin Bergstrom purchased this house in 1972

Why Kristin Bergstrom chose Longbeach Village

I have watched tremendous growth in the last 70 years on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The Longboat Village is one of the few special spots that has changed very little over the years. It is as quiet and safe as it was when I grew up there and eventually when I raised my children there. The beaches are just as beautiful and pristine as when I was a young girl. The property itself has been untouched over the years. We had a small Florida cottage on it for 45 years until it burnt down. My daughters and I have travelled the world over and always find ourselves coming back to this special place. It is as beautiful and magical as anywhere I have been. When faced with walking away or rebuilding we knew we wanted to stay connected to such a unique spot with so many happy memories. We just completed rebuilding at the end of 2015.

What makes this house unique

The property itself has the old Florida charm. Being situated overlooking the pass and being surrounded by native vegetation makes it very unique. When we rebuilt our home we decided to be as organic as possible and use native cypress wood for the exterior and for accent walls on the interior. it has a tree house feel from the outside but when you walk into the space it has a modern, Scandinavian feel. It is situated in the sought after community of Land's End in the historic village. It is peaceful and serene with direct water access, docking access and an easy walk to the white powder beach overlooking the Gulf across the street from the village.

Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home with an incredible view of the bay and pass. The owner, Kristin, was very responsive and accommodating. The home is full of windows and feels very spacious, and the huge back porch is the best spot to soak in the captivating view. Beach and restaurants are just a short stroll away. Gorgeous neighborhood with shell driveway and abundant vegetation. We definitely hope to rent this treehouse again in the future! Terri & Eric

AMAZING VIEWS

  • 5 of 5

We have been renting property in and/or around the Anna Maria Island area for almost 20 years and this property far exceeded our expectations. I cannot say enough about the amazing view and comfort of the home. The property was clean and had everything a renter would need to feel at home. Barbara was our contact once we arrived and she couldn't have been any nicer or more accommodating. In fact, she contacted us to provide us with an update on Hurricane Matthew and informed us that the owner indicated we were welcome to remain in the house if our flight was delayed or canceled. I would definitely recommend this lovely home and we will be returning very soon. Thank you for sharing.

Stunning home and property

  • 5 of 5

The property itself and the location were breathtaking. It was just the two of us for our 25th anniversary for the week, but it could easily accommodate a family with three more people or another couple. We rented a boat for the week and docked it at the house. It was so much fun exploring the area. The views from the upper porch were incredible and sitting on the lower dock observing the wildlife up close was wonderful. Everything one could want for cooking and day to day life is at your fingertips. Many great restaurants and beautiful beaches. We have been to the area several times, and would gladly return to this house again. Kristin was very responsive with the booking and Barbara was there to greet us and was very welcoming and accommodating. Thank you for sharing it!
