Relaxing and quaint - just what the doctor ordered

  • 5 of 5

We loved our weeks vacation at the Lemon Cottage. It suited all of our needs. Just a short (10 to 15 minutes) drive to 2 beaches. We preferred Blind Pass Beach (a little further scenic drive) - as we found 756 shark teeth in just 6 days!! We traveled with 2 adults and 3 younger children. We fit perfectly using the pull out couch. The house was clean and stocked with all the necessities. There is a corner store a few blocks away and a Publix about 5 minutes away for groceries. It was so quiet, we felt like we were the loudest ones in the area, as we played catch and Frisbee in the quiet

road. We did meet a cute lizard in our closest upon arrival - but we carefully removed him - and the kids enjoyed getting an up close view of him. We cooked out on the awesome porch and felt like a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday life. The community is laid back and relaxed. Englewood is not like Destin or Panama city. If you hate that touristy feel - this city is the TICKET! We drove out to Sharky's on the Pier one evening and took a day trip to Boca Grande. Every night we enjoyed amazing sunsets on the beach. The owners were quick to respond to our last minute booking and provided great communication for our visit. We couldn't get enough of the local ice cream shop "A BETTER SCOOP." We recommend the Orange Pineapple ice cream.

The only thing I would recommend for the cottage is that the trees need a bit of trimming to the laundry room. We did appreciate all the foliage, but it just was a tad overgrown in some areas. :) We will definitely be back!! Thank you!

Lemon Cottage is a cozy, roomy, very private cottage in a quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our month stay in Lemon Cottage. The kitchen is well-appointed for those of us who actually like to prepare very nice cuisine. The use of an outdoor grill was a definite plus. We enjoyed dining outside on several occasions in one of the three patio areas. Linda and Ian gave us a warm welcome and were very responsive communicators. It was a distinct pleasure to book and to stay in Lemon Cottage.

Relaxing cottage 1 1/2 blocks from Lemon Bay

  • 5 of 5

Very nicely decorated with all the towels, sheets, etc that you will need. Just bring your toothbrush and groceries. We did find it as described online. Handyman will fix whatever breaks. It is a mile walk from the cottage to the last of 5-6 restaurants on the main street of Old Englewood plus numerous gift shops. Quite a selection of artwork from local artists. 0.8 miles in the other direction is Lemon Bay Park; walking trails where at least two people have told me they spotted a bobcat ( I saw nothing in 4 visits).

Very enjoyable rental, excellent in every way.

My husband and I stayed in Lemon Cottage for the month of February. The cottage is very clean, beautifully decorated, and well appointed. The layout of the cottage consists of two bedrooms which are located on either side of the cottage, with the living & dining areas in the middle. This layout allows for greater privacy for more than 2 guests in the cottage. The master bedroom has an ensuite bath and also a small, fenced in, private patio. There is also a covered patio at the front of the cottage and a small deck on the back of the cottage, where we enjoyed our morning coffee while listening to the birds and watching the squirrels. There is a circular brick courtyard/bar-b-que/firepit area located in garden in the rear of the property which is very nice. This, as well as the laundry room is shared by the 2 other cottages on the property. The cottage is located in a very quiet residential area; we loved the quiet location and rarely heard anything other than an occasional car. We have booked again for next year because we enjoyed Lemon Cottage so much.

The cottage is located in an attractive, quiet area, away from any busy or noisy roads, that is typically 'Old Florida' on the lovely Gulf Coast. The main street in Olde Englewood, Dearborn Street, hosts a number of regular activities which attract people from the surrounding area, such as Saturday Night Live - shops are open late and lots of live music -, Wine Walks and Wine Tasting, Cruizin' Dearborn - classic car show along the street, live music, shops open late - and a Farmer's Market every Thursday morning. There are several excellent restaurants on Dearborn Street and in the local area offering a variety of cuisine to suit all tastes. Most of the restaurants provide live music covering a range of styles ensuring a fun, relaxing and enjoyable evening.

Down in Fort Myers, there are interesting attractions such as Thomas Edison's and Henry Ford's Winter Estates, Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva Islands and a refurbished retro downtown area.

Boca Grande, famous for the Bush family vacations, is approx half an hour's drive from Englewood and is the home of the beautiful Gasparilla Inn.

North of Englewood, you have Venice Beach, where you you can often spot dolphins and beautiful Siesta Key, where the beach is listed as one of the top 10 beaches of the world. And then, north a little further, in Sarasota, you will find the Ringling Brothers' Museum.

Closer to home, Englewood Beach and Stump Pass State Park are on Manasota Key which is 10 minutes' drive from the Cottages. In addition to sunbathing on the beach, kayaks and paddle boards can be rented and there are some lovely places to explore using them. Lemon Bay Park and Environmental Center is a stone's throw away. Here you will find a nature trail, butterfly garden, eagle nest viewing areas, canoe/kayak launch, boardwalks, picnic pavilion, picnic shelters, grills, park benches and environmental center.
