Your hosts, Greg and Kathleen Schelling, built River Haven with comfort, relaxation, privacy and refreshment in mind. In the style of an historic, German Sunday House, the lodging will afford you with an experience reminiscent of a stay at an old home or dressed-up tree house (if you choose the upper level) with the conveniences of modern amenities and easy recreation. Kathleen traces her heritage to original German settlers in Texas (the Round Top area) and a background in offering hospitality and joy-filled fellowship. We value rich fellowship, nature, timeless quality, clean comforts like crisp white linens, and high standards that are often referred to as "vintage" today.

Located just a short walk to Gruene, Texas, in the old Preiss Heights neighborhood, guests will experience abundant wildlife such as white-tailed deer, foxes, owls, hawks, and many other birds. Whether you desire a cozy, secluded stay, a gathering of several friends or family members, or just a fresh landing spot to recharge while shopping or visiting tourist attractions, River Haven will provide its guests with a lovely location to rest, freshen-up, work, or play. WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE PARTIES OR EVENTS AT RIVER HAVEN.

Because we are not located right on the Guadalupe, we are often sought after for the peace and quiet we can afford at River Haven. River access is only a half mile from us, and the village of Gruene is one mile away, however, and we have the unique quality of being desirable for every season, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, where guests can enjoy shows by artisans, seasonal activities, superior music at Gruene Hall, Whitewater Amphitheater, River Road Ice House, as well as numerous nearby smaller venues in Gruene and New Braunfels. San Marcos Outlet Shopping is a 20 minute drive away and downtown New Braunfels is 11 minutes away, and you will find abundant night life, antiquing and shopping there, also. Don't forget Wurstfest in the Fall!
