About René and John Johnson
We love Dunedin and are very active in the community. It has been our dream to live, work and play in Downtown Dunedin and in 2015 we made that dream come true. My husband is retired military and has traveled the world and when I found Dunedin we knew we found our final home. We have owned several businesses on Main Street (retail and restaurants) and now we get to be in the thick of it to soak up daily life here. In November we completed our mixed use project on Main Street and couldn't be prouder or happier with the result.
René and John Johnson purchased this Condo in 2015
Why René and John Johnson chose Dunedin
We designed our building to fit the downtown core and it fits right in with its' Spanish exterior styling, decorative tile, and front patio with large fountain and gathering space. The building incorporates Florida Green Building Council's recommendations and is energy efficient and built to stand the test of time. The downstairs has two retail shops that are fantastic with friendly owners and staff. The first floor features a private residential entry that can be accessed from the front or back of the building. We built the building with an elevator so that we'd always have full accessibility as we get older. The residential hallway and lobby area welcomes our visitors to our home and we're sure you will enjoy coming home to it, too. I still need to take some pics of the "Opium Den", as I affectionately call it. No Opium there - but, it is designed to create an exotic feeling when you come in and you may want to linger in the alcoves to have a cocktail or play the piano before you come upstairs. It's cozy and really gives another living space to share with your guests when they come to visit while you are in Dunedin. All of the rooms in the building are open and large. We hope you will enjoy your stay here and do what many other visitors to Dunedin do - come for a bit then extend your stays longer each time until you decide that Dunedin is your full-time home, too.
What makes this Condo unique
Feel like listening to some live music? The options are many and as close as next door or as far as a 5 minute walk. Want great restaurants? You will love the kitchen but may never want to use it. There are so many great locally owned choices within walking distance. Don't want to drive? You don't need to! Take a cab or Uber from the airport and then don't think about it until it's time to go home. Everything you really need is within blocks from your front door. Things to do? If you are bored here your own fault. Dunedin is known for it's many world class festivals and night life. Take the Jolly Trolley from the front of the building to Safety Harbor, Clearwater Beach, Palm Harbor or Tarpon Springs if you want to venture out.

Thanks so much Rene and John! We came to celebrate a family wedding and we can't wait to return! Staying in downtown Dunedin was amazing. Catching a 1am post-flight beer and food at Chic a Boom Room was just the start....The Living Room, Dunedin Smokehouse, Casa Tina.....all right there. Never needed a car for anything. So many places to dine....and the breweries were the fav....House of Beer, Dunedin Brewery, Seven Sun, etc. Loved strolling on the Pinellas Trail. Loved the elevator right to our door. This condo had everything. Keyless access to the unit made coming and going a breeze. Slept so well, felt so pampered with the premium bedding, spa baths, cozy living
throughout! Gourmet kitchen made eating in easy as well. Can't wait to get back!
Loved the location inside of downtown Dunedin! Gorgeous accommodation and comfortable bed. I would stay here again!
The condo was large and lived up to every bit of our expectations. We were in the center of the tourist area with restaurants all around us. Rene and John did an outstanding job in making us comfortable and we look forward to returning for another great vacation.
Our time spent at Rene' and John's condo was great. It is a beautiful place and very peaceful. We enjoyed our time so much that we are going back in November. This place is very nicely decorated and clean. We were so comfortable there. There are so many places to eat and they are within walking distance. The downtown area is a very lively place, but we heard nothing inside the condo. This is the place to stay if you want to feel like your at home. Thank you Rene' and John.
This was our first stay in Dunedin, and we feel like we made all the best choices. Casco Viejo is absolutely beautiful and convenient to nearly everything! The apartment is lovely but also completely comfortable - exactly what I want my own home to be (but, at home, I have to deal with the clutter of everyday life).
The kitchen and bathrooms were impeccable and well-stocked with everything promised and a bit more: nice linens, Bose sound system w/Ipod; good appliances, etc. I especially loved the front and back entries; every time I entered or exited, I felt as though I was in a Mediterranean seaside town.
We did not use the balcony because it was beastly hot outside, and the eau du dumpster was stronger than I could bear (I think the balcony would be great during a cooler time of year).
Be sure to visit the shops downstairs - DELIGHTFULLY CHARMING!- also Dunedin Coffee and Bakery, Dunedin Brewery, the Fish Camp... walk/run/bike on the Pinellas Trail... watch the dolphins in the sound ...Dunedin has so much goodness, and Casco Viejo is the perfect home base for all of it.
