About James & Jill Phinn
We are an English family from Nottinghamshire, and my sister and I first started coming to Vence for summer with our parents around 20 years ago. We have been coming back to the town for holidays every year since!
James & Jill Phinn purchased this House in 1997
Why James & Jill Phinn chose Vence
This is a tasteful and spacious townhouse which is full of French charm, with very central location (just behind the main Place du Grand Jardin) and a short walk to the town centre and local shops, restaurants, bars and galleries. You don't need a car to get around. Benefits from a rooftop terrace/patio with views over the mountains and to the sea in the distance.
What makes this House unique
This is a tasteful and spacious townhouse which is full of French charm, with very central location (just behind the main Place du Grand Jardin) and a short walk to the town centre and local shops, restaurants, bars and galleries. You don't need a car to get around. There is plenty of space in the house to relax, wine and dine with friends and family, with a large table and lovely adjoining kitchen. The salon is in traditional French open plan style with stone walls, beams and traditional pendant lighting, with fireplace, sofa/settee and TV. This leads up to a roof terrace rare amongst townhouses in Vence, looking out over the rooftops of the old town, and over to the Baou mountains in one direction and the distant sea in another. We often retreat there for a drink and to eat in the cool evening air!

Great apartment in the centre of Vence
We had a great a week here. The apartment is right in the heart of Vence and close to many wonderful places to eat and drink in the town. Great bakeries in the morning within 2 minutes walk.
Vence is a small town and easy to walk around and within short drives of St Paul de Vence, Nice, Antibes, and the rest of the Riviera.
We stayed in late July / early August and overlapped with the Festival Nuits du Sud a Vence where there the centre square turns into a stage and a couple of good acts play each evening. If you enjoy music, I'd recommend aligning your visit with this. We also had great music in some of the little squares in Vence on the other evenings whilst having dinner.
Nice view from rooftop.
Two best things: location and rooftop terrace! Although the underground parking is in the center of town, it’s easy to find and very close to house. The rooftop terrace in mornings and evenings has a beautiful view.
Great location, great size. We appreciated wifi and large bedrooms. The furnishings, kitchen and bathrooms were comfortable, but somewhat dated. The cleaning fee was significantly more than anywhere else we've stayed.
Lovely French home in excellent location.
Enjoyed my time in Vence very much. Lovely town, good restaurants and shopping. Easy access to surrounding towns as well.
I would certainly recommend to others.
Great home in the old town
We really enjoyed our stay. The house had everything we needed. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a nice kitchen and living area, along with a nice roof deck. We enjoyed our stay.
We're delighted you enjoyed your stay in Vence, and that the house was all you needed - thanks for the positive review. It was a pleasure to host such polite guests! james
Nice property in a very good location.
We stayed in the house in Vence for one week in July. The house was clean and comfortable, nicely furnished and suited us fine. We were able to explore Vence as the house was situated right in the centre of the town, this said, it was a peaceful location as well so best of both worlds. The house does have a lot of stairs so I don't think it would be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Good property though, in a great area with plenty to do and see and a lovely French town to feel part of.
Nearest beach is approximately 15 minutes drive or 20 minutes by bus, with Antibes beaches approximately 35 minutes drive.
Less than half an hour from Nice airport by car or taxi, Vence is also easily reached by public transport. Direct daily flights to Nice from many main and regional airports across the UK, including Discount carriers Easyjet, Jet2 and BMIbaby.

St Paul de Vence is 10 minutes by car
