Cottage in Priors Marston, Nr. Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire, England - A Quiet Location In A Beautiful English Village

The Old Smithy is a recently refurbished holiday property with two bedrooms (one double, one twin), two bathrooms (en-suite to double plus separate family bathroom), and large open plan kitchen / dining / lounge with tri-fold doors leading to private garden area laid mostly to patio. TVs with Freeview channels in lounge area and both bedrooms. Wood burner in lounge area (plus a supply of logs) provides a great way to keep warm on cold days. Kitchen has fridge-freezer, oven with gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and washer-dryer. It's located in a conservation area in a village described as 'the quintessential English village'. Pets welcome by prior arrangement. £20 per pet, per week.

About Martin Jezzard

Heather and I live in Warwickshire with our two grown-up daughters and assorted much loved pets. We bought our present house around seven years ago and have spent much of the time since restoring the property, and latterly the dilapidated outbuildings.

Why Martin Jezzard chose Southam

We love Priors Marston and the surrounding area. It's quiet and rural, with lovely walks, whilst excellent shops and places to visit are within easy reach.

What makes this cottage unique

We restored the outbuildings at our property to provide the sort of accommodation we look for when we go away on holiday. A peaceful place from which to enjoy a lovely part of the country.

An old map revealed that the building had once been a Smithy - hence its name!

It was everything we could have wished for. The property could not be faulted. It is comfortably furnished, has all modern facilities and has a nice private seated patio area and a BBQ and for those rainy evenings there is a modern 42" flat screen TV and a large selection of DVD's, books and games.The village pub is a very short stroll away and the food is good, as are the cask ales.

It was a lovely cottage and from the moment we walked in the door we knew we were going to be happy and comfortable there. There is a nice area with the property for sitting outside which is completely private which will be lovely in the summer. We would recommend. D & R 05/13

Notes on accommodation: refurbished and largely rebuilt in 2012, a single storey detached 'cottage' fitted to a high standard to provide comfortable accommodation for up to four people. There are two bedrooms, the master with king-size bed, en-suite and TV, plus a twin with original features - beams and exposed stonework. The large thru kitchen / lounge / diner is fully equipped and opens on to a private garden area laid largely to patio. Outside: Private garden area laid mostly to patio with outside seating and newly erected summerhouse. Gravel drive parking for one or two cars immediately outside property (accessed via owners driveway) Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen provided and changed weekly. Towels not provided.

Fantastic cottage for a great long weekend retreat

Really great cottage, comfortable, stylist, spacious (and great CD collection for any muso's oug there!) There we four of us and a dog, and we had plenty of space. Great base for exploring the countryside, with a few decent pub walks - would recomend The Folly on the canal at Napton on the Hill.

Handy place to stay near Warwick

Home away from home - comfortably furnished and even has a Nespresso coffee machine so we could have very relaxed morning starts! Enclosed shady garden perfect for the hot summer days and no worries about our dog disappearing. The CD and DVD collection was impressively extensive ditto the books but with all the good weather we didn't need them this trip. Martin was a friendly host and the welcome lemon drizzle cake and bottle of wine were great touches. Can highly recommend if you are visiting the area.

Lovely Cottage of Comforts

Our family of four spent two weeks in the cottage while we visited family throughout the area. We found the cottage to be a perfect fit for us four adults. Priors Marston is a lovely little village and it was quiet and peaceful at the cottage. The furnishings were very comfortable and the kitchen was complete with all necessary cookware, tools and appliances. The enclosed backyard had quality seating and was perfect for entertaining family. The cottage was a home away from home and we wouldn’t hesitate to reserve the cottage again in the future. We highly recommended “The Old Smithy!”

The property is very pretty,lovely open plan cottage

Perfect for enjoying a break with loved ones. We enjoyed our stay very much, the locals were so friendly as with the owners. Would definitely recommend a quiet break away here.

Lovely property, perfect for stay with elderly relative

Very comfortable with all facilities you could want. Lovely extra touches - wine, flowers and cake! Squirrel and deer visited us in garden. Great area to tour and some lovely pubs to relax and take in the views. Owners friendly and helpful. You won't regret booking.

Great, super dog friendly cottage in a lovely village right next to the pub!

We didn't want to leave!

The layout of the cottage is really social and practical for furry family members. It was really comfortable and well equipped. Martin was really helpful with suggestions of things to do when we arrived and there was a lemon drizzle cake too - what more could you ask for! We were able to walk straight out of the cottage onto foot paths and the nearby canal. Close to Southam and Royal Lemington Spa.

The garden is secure for dogs and sheltered and we sat outside even though it was early April. A little Muntjac deer even came and peaked into the garden one day!

Parking is great just right outside the door and having Wifi is really handy too.

We both thought that this was one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in. 5*'s definitely!

Well placed for exploring the local area: Cotswolds / Stratford-on-Avon 30 mins drive. Warwick castle - 30 mins. Leamington Spa (excellent shopping) 20 mins. Oxford 1 hour.

One well behaved dog welcomed.
