About Mrs Fiona M Dodson
We have lived in Chittoe for 27 years and brought up our five children here - well almost! I am an enthusiastic cook and offer delicious home made cakes for tea on arrival, as well as a pot of jam hopefully made with fruit from the garden. Muffins are a particular favourite!
Why Mrs Fiona M Dodson chose Bromham
We bought the property in 1985 wanting to create my vision of a proper family home. Moving every two years or so as a child, hadn't given me 'wanderlust' but the desire to 'belong'. Our children have been so lucky to have been brought up in this idyllic countryside with ponies, chickens and sheep, plus my husbands lust for old tractors and machinery! With the kids now largely grown up we decided to renovate the Coach House from being a work shop, tractor home and hay barn with tiny flat above to a more stylish set up. Our plans evolved as we went along with the original plans being done by our son now an engineer. With huge input from all members of the family we now have a wonderful property so others can also enjoy this idyllic location.
What makes this House unique
The views from the bedroom windows and balconies are spectacular. The property is set with in the grounds of our home and surrounded by open fields and woodland. Perfect for walking and biking. We offer use of our tennis court, repainted this year and the swimming pool which is to be re-lined March 2016.. It is also perfectly situated for visiting many ancient sites such as Avebury and Stonehenge; the Georgian City of Bath and towns such as our local town of Devizes with its' market square, unique shops, pubs and cafes as well as the famous canal and stunning Cane Hill flight of locks. Bowood House offers an international Golf course and Spa as well as fabulous fine dining, only a couple of miles away.

Best kept secret
Wow. The location, the cottage, the grounds, the owners....It’s a truly wonderful place and experience.
We arrived knowing the owners were on holiday until part way through our week, but they had planned our interaction well with their house sitters so no questions went unanswered. We were greeted with home made jam and a bottle of wine too.
The cottage has been lovingly and exquisitely refurbished/extended and it’s a lovely place to relax (not to mention the wonderful bath).
There are some serious grounds to explore here which are great for kids and adults alike. The owners are very dog friendly and were keen to make whatever provisions they could for us (eg fencing in a small orchard for our dog to use at night whose recall is not great).
There are caravans in the neighbouring field within the property and located in such a way you can choose to interact with them or not at all, your choice entirely.
The pool is wonderful with a huge pool house containing a pool table, boxing station, overflowing shelves of books, swim paraphenalia for kids, darts, tennis rackets and balls for the tennis court, and a table tennis table by the pool.
Dog walking options are extensive from a single enclosed field to local walks through farmers fields.
There’s use of a washing machine and line and you have your own gravelled patio with gas BBQ, table chairs and recliners and a grass garden too.
Parking is ample and there’s a wonderful view from the top of the small hill as you enter the grounds.
This place is what childhood dreams are made of and ‘what a childhood’ the family’s now grown 5 children must have had here!!
There space for ball games galore as well and the driveway is concrete for scooters /bikes.
We bought some delicious local honey from a neighbouring farm and everyone you pass had a smile and a wave.
Bedding and towels are well catered for as were toilet rolls, kitchen towel and washing up Liquid. There are scales, electric whisk and a plethora of utensils and dishes should you wish to cook/bake.
There were also fresh wildflowers in every single room when we arrived.
I really could not fault this property and the owners. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday. We can’t wait to return!
Thank you so much for taking so much time to write such a comprehensive review.
A wonderful week
My two sons thoroughly enjoyed all of the on-site activities. We visited the pool every day and played tennis till the sun set.
Beautiful accommodation. Thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the trouble to write a review.
We were sorry not to meet you at all being away ourselves but thrilled you all had a great time and made good use of the tennis court and pool.
Five Stars is not enough!
Fiona is the consummate host and the Coach House is a dream to stay in. The entire property is stunning and we loved every minute we spent there. We were lucky to have some sunny days and enjoyed relaxing with the big door in the living room open to the courtyard. Our 2 year old daughter loved the “puppies” and they were ever so patient with her. We hope our next visit won’t be many years from now and that we can stay longer. ❤️
Thank you so much for taking the trouble to write a review. We so loved meeting you all and touched that you chose to stay here on your trip. I hope you have a lovely time in York, Edinburgh and onto Rome before home to Canada. We would love to welcome you back.
Superb in every way
Wonderful Victorian house tastefully updated by the helpful and engaging owners who live nearby on the same property, which once was a major vicarage. Well located for visiting Bath, Avebury, Stonehenge, the fascinating museum of photography at the entrance to Lacock Abbey, the Bowood house, and Woodland gardens (which are open from mid April to mid June only). Best suited for travelers who enjoy living in the countryside and are comfortable driving on one-lane roads.

Thank you so much for writing a review. I hope you had a great time in London and onward trip to France.
Lovely house in a quaint setting
We stayed at the Coach House over the Easter weekend. We had a lovely time. The house was tastefully refurbished - plenty of sandstone, wood and antiques. Set next to the main house, it has it's own private outdoor space; great for eating out, set in plenty of open space. Our hosts were very kind and attentive. 2 very friendly dogs were great fun for our son to play with.
Thank so much for taking the trouble to write a review, it is hugely appreciated. It was so lovely to meet you both and little Freddie and I very much hope we might see you again.
Unusual property in nice area
The Coach House is an interesting building, sympathetically renovated and set in lots of countryside, but within easy reach of towns like Devizes and Melksham. The dog enjoyed it, especially the multitude of pheasants on the local walks.
