About Michael Darnell
Michael & Samantha moved to Anglesey as they returned again and again for holidays. We hope to provide a high quality experience for large groups or families.
Michael Darnell purchased this House in 2011
Why Michael Darnell chose Tyn-y-Gongl
We bought Woodlands as we though it would make a great location and base for those visiting Anglesey for the first time or those who keep coming back again and again
What makes this House unique
Woodlands is a great location for Anglesey and North Wales. It also makes a great property for celebrations where the event is more of the focus than the location. The property is unique in that all of the bedrooms are large and are ensuite, so there will be no dispute on who gets which rooms. The games room is a great for keeping children occupied, whilst the bar room offers novelty something for the adults

Great house for a family group
Comfortable bedrooms, great downstairs rooms for different activities and age-groups, well-resourced kitchen with wide selection of crockery, utensils, cooking and serving dishes and pans suitable for a large group. Pleasant garden and good local shops and beaches.
We spotted a red squirrel in the garden.
Easy to book, good communication with owner. Lovely clean, fully equipped house with lovely views. The only small negative is garden is not secure to allow dogs off leads
Visit from USA to get together with family
This is the second time we have rented a house in North Wales as part of our UK vacation coming home to see family and friends and Woodlands did not disappoint at all. At first we felt that the house was perhaps not as open as before but the huge dining room and conservatory were great places to mingle, eat and play games. The bedrooms were all really nice and we comfortably accommodated up to 12 people over the course of the week. The children loved the garden and we walked to several beaches during our stay as well as venturing further afield. All the recommendations for local food, pubs and takeaways were accurate and we had some excellent meals. Kitchen was incredibly well stocked with everything you could need and having 2 fridge/freezers was perfect.
We would absolutely recommend staying here and would love to return at some point. There were absolutely no issues encountered over the week.
We also had some amazing weather which was a huge bonus!
Thank you Michael.
I can't really fault the holiday or property. Michael & Samantha were great to deal with & everything went smoothly. The house was great, clean with lots of room even for a group of 12. We spent a lot of time sitting in the lovely conservatory. The location was great for walking on the Island. (Llanddwyn Island & beach is a must) Only small negative was the Main Road outside the property which is positioned just over the brow of the hiĺl, but if you are careful & use the track down the side of the property, it is safe enough. Would definitely book again.
Great family break
We spent a lovely break in the April sun at Woodlands. The house is well equipped and spacious. It’s just outside Benllech, which has pubs and convenience stores close at hand. The beaches in Anglesey are fab, with our favourite being at Lligwy bay and it’s lovely cafe and bar on the beach. I’m sure the family will be back again
Nice home in beautiful area.
Brilliant week at Woodlands with easy access to NT properties, beautiful beaches and villages.
House is well set up but nothing provided in the way of kitchen essentials (washing up liquid, cloths, tea towels etc) nor bathroom toiletries. Even toilet rolls rationed which seems rather mean!
Exiting and entering the property is dangerous so it is essential to use the track alongside the front.
Even so, we (group of more mature friends) loved the week together and were very pleased to see two toasters, two kettles and plenty of crockery in the kitchen.
Woodlands is close to some of the best beaches on Anglesey, including:
Benllech Beach – A great family beach which you can walk to in less than 15 minutes.
LLigwy Beach – Our favourite local beach
Red Wharfe Bay – A picturesque bay that floods at high tide
Treath Bychan – A lovely little beach with a cafe
Llandonna Beach – A little more remote and hence a less visited beach
Cross onto Anglesey and then follow signs for A5025 to Benllech. Just before you reach the village the speed limit changes to 40 and the entrance to Woodlands is on the left just over the brow of a small hill.
The nearest airports are Manchester and Liverpool. Nearest train station is Bangor. There is a bus stop very near Woodlands.
In the immediate area there is a great selection of beaches. There is also a sections of good pubs and restaurants. Benllech makes a great base to explore the island and/or North Wales. We have lots of information at the property on these locations plus suggestions of walks and other things to do.
