Hi, I'm Judith and I live just outside St Ives . I was born near Lancaster. I enjoy the landscapes and life of West Cornwall as well as travelling in the UK and beyond. I have grown up sons and have worked for charities in London, as well as in community learning. Living close by means I can mainly look after the Cobbles myself and I know this counts. The Cobbles really scores highly with guests. It's a beautiful peaceful, simple space, a perfect location too and they go home refreshed. I can offer flexible start dates and short stays, especially in quieter months. It's good to know I'm welcoming people from all sorts of backgrounds and with different interests from the UK and around the world, to create their own very special holiday, and to experience Cornwall. I feel lucky to be here and I hope they do too. I think most people who visit St Ives find that it makes their heart sing, one way or another.

I've been a regular visitor to Cornwall and for 8 years I've lived close to St Ives. The Cobbles gives guests a lovely central place to stay at the seaside and their own patio. The location always surprises people; like me they love the fact that everything is on the doorstep; sea and sands, shops, cafes, galleries - and yet it is so magically quiet all year round because the lane is lined only with fishermen's cottages, - no shops and traffic free. The Cobbles has its own exclusive parking space available a few minutes walk away for an additional charge which is equivalent to the normal car park charges.
What makes this Apartment unique
The changing seasons and atmosphere: being so close to the sea is incredibly exciting when the tide is high. I love being out of the front door and on the beach or the coast path in a minute. St Ives is buzzing with people having a great time - today everyone was out sunbathing or sitting at street cafes - it always feels like a happy place. You can just nip back if you forget something or want a break, then off you go again. I particularly enjoy exploring the art galleries. St Ives is rich in art and the Cobbles has some beautiful work on the walls. Shopping is different and exciting here - stress free and surprising. I go to the Tate Gallery of course to the changing exhibitions; and the cafe has brilliant views. I often walk along the stunning coast east or west or ride out further to explore because this is a beautiful part of the world, within easy reach of famous public gardens, museums, pre-historic sites, climbing and walking. There is St Ives School of Painting a few steps away with short courses and guests seem to love it. I've known a few guests produce paintings while staying here. But it's also a delight to sit out on the little patio at the Cobbles or curl up on the sofa with a book and the radio and just enjoy the peace.

Great location in St Ives. Great little property with everything we needed.
Although getting to the car park to unload on a busy Saturday afternoon was a bit worrying we managed it and loved the location of the property. Well worth having the parking permit as we didn't have to worry about the car throughout our stay.
The property had everything we needed. The lock could be a bit tricky but once we got the knack we were fine. It was lovely being a couple of minutes from the two main beaches. We could get a take away from the harbour, go via the property to pick up our chairs etc and then head to the quieter beach to watch the sun go down and eat our supper.
We had a great week.

Charming little cottage
Location excellent. If a little difficult to unload/load particularly if mobility problems. Ideal for a couple. Sofa bed uncomfortable for a week. Keep in mind shower room / WC is off the bedroom so a third person requires access. Clean and good amenities but unfortunately we couldn’t get the oven to work. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. Car parking permit (extra cost) was a real bonus but again a steep hill to get to & from it.

Ten wonderful days in St Ives
Having picked this from the website, mainly for its location, being central, even despite not having a car close by (did take up the owners kind offer to use their dedicated spot in the Tate gallery car park) this didn't cause to much grief as we found the shortcut by Virgin lane up the hill to the car park. Shopping was fine as there are a couple of local Co-op's in walking distance and a Tesco supermarket five mins away, if that, in the car. There are lots of cafes and a mixed variety of good shops. The accommodation is excellent, everything you could need. Plenty of local eateries for the discovery off and just enough pubs/bars to keep it interesting. Baileys lane is very quiet, and enjoyed sitting out in the evenings. The local bus service is excellent, if you fancy a lift back from the coastal walk to Lelant, especially after lunch and a few pints in the Badger Inn. Good footwear is required and its very hilly and narrow and high up in places. Not for anyone who has a really bad fear of heights. Well worth the walk as the views are stunning. Big thanks to Judith for clarifying all the details twice :) and lastly do go to the ghost walk for tales of the unexpected. lol.

Only a minute or two on foot to sweeping Porthmeor, the Harbour and Porthgwidden beaches. There are five beautiful clean sandy beaches in St Ives! Surfing is popular at Porthmeor and surf schools available locally. Boats for hire.The Hayle Estuary is bird paradise. It is lovely to walk east along the coast path to reach it or to head west to Zennor and clamber down to hidden coves. South coast delights, eg Marazion/Newlyn/Mousehole can be accessed easily by car/bus/taxi, approx 8 -12 miles.
Newquay airport 40 miles; Exeter airport 100 miles.Trains from London Paddington change at St Erth for direct line to St Ives; frequent connections. Property easy walking distance (10 mins) of train station, bus station;taxis available. Car use not essential for a great holiday in and around St Ives but it's an extra bonus to be able to explore more isolated places in West Penwith. Some free street parking; usual parking is in one of 8 Council car parks, winter to mid March just £2 for 24 hrs.
West Cornwall is a feast for anyone who enjoys wild landscapes. You can try cliff walking, climbing, find prehistoric settlement sites, stunning art and rich art history, enjoy seal/dolphin spotting, festivals, messing about in boats, surfing as well as good fresh food, traditional inns, and relaxing in the beautiful landscape. St Ives is on the north coast; nowhere is far away: from Sennen walk west to Lands End; or to Godrevy (NT)via Hayle to the east. Truro city/Penzance easily accessible.
You can buy almost anything in St Ives. There are many fascinating independent shops for food, clothes and crafts. There is the local Norway foodstore two minutes walk away and a small Co-op store in the town centre. You will have no problem finding a bank. It is bursting with art galleries and artists studios and you'll be amazed at the variety of tempting places to eat. There is also a cinema, jazz club, folk nights, theatre and a good little museum. You can take boat trips from the Quayside and go fishing if you wish. Popular places to visit nearby are Marazion, Penzance 7 miles, (see the Penlee Museum), Mousehole and Newlyn, Zennor (see the Church and the Tinners Arms) and the harbour of Porthleven on the Lizard (call into Breage church on the way to see the medieval wall paintings), and further on Falmouth maritime museum is an interesting excursion. I recommend a small new book about walks in the area 'Walking in Penwith' by David Chapman. There are also beautiful gardens close by - see Tremenheere, and Trengwainton, and Trebah further afield. You could visit the famous Eden Project on your way in or out of Cornwall. Closer to home: try the unmissable Cream Teas at Rosemergy near Bosigran on the north coast road. In among the narrow cobbled streets is St Ives school of painting where you can do some art yourself on one of their short courses. There are many good restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs open throughout the year both in St Ives and in the wider area. For a treat try the Mermaid in St Ives for example or the Taj Mahal in Penzance. The famous St Ives Festival of music and the arts runs from mid September annually for two weeks and makes this a wonderful time to visit. The amazing Tate St Ives gallery has major exhibitions throughout the year as do many other excellent galleries in the town, giving it a unique character and excitement. People love to be in St Ives for famously memorable New Year celebrations as well.
