About Steve Gray
We first visited Tavira in 2006 with 2 of our children and immediately fell in love with the unspoilt city on the banks of the river, the stunning beaches and blue seas, the nature reserve in the Ria Formosa with an abundance of wildlife and of course the sunshine!! After a couple more family visits we decided to buy our first house there which is a 5 minute walk from Casa Mott. For 4 years we spent 7 or 8 weeks a year in charming Tavira. We then bought Casa Mott early in 2013 as both a family home and as a very successful holiday rental business as it had been fully booked for the summer for 10 years. In April 2014 we moved to Tavira on a permanent basis so we are always on hand to look after our guests in the villa. In 2018 we sold the villa and have been retained to manage it for our guests. We hope that you love Casa Mott as much as we do!!

Why Steve Gray chose Tavira
Casa Mott is a spacious private villa in a quiet residential area consisting of unique villas. The well maintained private pool is surrounded by plenty of sunbathing space. The large upstairs balcony boasts a sea view and the Rattan furniture allows 6 people to enjoy the sun all day. It is only a 15/20 minute to walk into the centre of Tavira with a few cafes and shops enroute. Holidays in Tavira are addictive. People fall in love with it!! The small city has long held attractions which work their magic to ensure that many visitors return again and again. Tavira is unspoilt. The city is on the banks of the river, offers plenty of cafes/restaurants, stunning beaches and blue seas, the nature reserve in the Ria Formosa with an abundance of wildlife and of course the sunshine!! Tavira is an ancient town dating back pre Roman times. It stands at an important strategic position at the mouth of the beautiful River Gilao, and is divided into two parts by the river, spanned by a beautiful arched Roman bridge. It's a town of twisting streets, picturesque houses, gabled roofs, quaint churches, an exquisite main square, a riverside lined with good restaurants, vibrant early morning markets and the ruins of a Moorish castle. There are no high rise apartment blocks in Tavira!! Regular boats sail through the Ria Formosa nature reserve to the stunning island beach on Ilha de Tavira. There are numerous other beautiful beaches within easy reach.
What makes this Villa unique
Casa Mott is a very spacious, detached traditional Portuguese family villa in the quiet and exclusive urbanisation of Quinta da Barra in Tavira which is 30 minutes from Faro airport and 25 minutes from the Spanish border. It is only a 15/20 minute mainly flat walk into the centre of Tavira. A taxi home after a meal in one of the fantastic and reasonably priced restaurants is just over 4 euros. Quinta da Barra was the first urbanisation in Tavira and consists only of unique and very traditional Portuguese villas. Built around 35 years ago, Casa Mott is set back from the road and very private as it is not overlooked and is set in fenced/walled mature gardens containing olive, orange, lemon, lime and grapefruit trees. The villa is very spacious and provides sea views from the large south facing first floor terrace. Outside there is a large pool with Roman steps surrounded by plenty of sunbathing space along with a brick built barbeque.
