A beautiful cottage.
Beautiful cottage set in lovely grounds made our family break a special occasion. Thank you Jane.
Long weekend in Bala
Really easy booking. Jane is a great host and sent us lots of really useful info before the stay. Beautiful peaceful location and very comfy cottage with a great log burner. Bala has all you need. We did one excellent hill walk and another long beach walk. Storm Ciara made for an exciting departure but again Jane very helpful. Highly recommend!
Fabulous New Year break!
Just back from a very enjoyable New Year stay at the cottage. The welcome pack and Christmas card was a lovely touch, thank you!
The cottage itself is very well-equipped for your stay, with lots of information leaflets/booklets about the surrounding area. The annexe was a great added feature too and 2 of us slept in there for the duration, as we were a party of 7 with 2 small dogs. Log fire made for cosy nights and was a lovely feature! Wi-fi bit hit-and-miss at times but hey-ho we managed, even with 3 children!
The views are amazing around the cottage ... it's at the top of a steep hill and very peaceful. Bala itself is a lovely, friendly little village with some good dog-friendly pubs and we had a Chinese takeaway from Bala, which was tasty.
Ventured out to Betws-y-Coed and Swallow Falls one day and then Black Rock Sands and Criccieth the day after. Lovely rides out and both under an hour away from the cottage.
Would def recommend a stay here and we felt refreshed by the end of the stay. A great start to 2020!
Thank you and best wishes for the New Year!
We had a lovely family Christmas at the cottage. The wood burning stove kept us warm and cosy inside and we really enjoyed our walk up to Llyn Idwal and our day out at Portmerion and Ffestiniog.
The cottage is in beautiful surroundings and far enough away from the next property that we didn't have to worry about making too much noise when we played cards or charades - we can be very raucous! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our "local" was The Old Bull's Head . We came in cold one day so they turned the central heating on for us :-) Drink was very reasonably priced - it's just a pity they don't do food as well! The only problem with the area is that there isn't much of a taxi service, if that's important . Otherwise I couldn't fault it. I love Wales in the Autumn :-)
Bala is within easy reach of beautiful North Wales coastline. Within 40 minutes of the seaside town of Barmouth with its lovely sandy beaches. The estuarine resort of Aberdovey is a similar distance away and is beautiful. Slightly further afield but still easily a day trip is Portmaddoch , Harlech , Shell Island, Abersoch and the Llyn Peninsula and more... Stunning combinations of shoreline and mountains.
Within walking distance of Bala town centre and leisure centre with swimming pool. Within walking distance too of the magnificent Bala lake , with access to windsurfing , canoeing , sailing or just paddling if the water is warm enough! Just 20 miles from the picturesque riverside town of Llangollen with shops pubs restaurants and steam railway.
Bala town centre is well equipped with 2 small supermarkets, butchers green grocers, cafes , pubs, banks and gift shops.
It is situated within the Snowdonia National Park and as such is a perfect location for walking enthusiasts with many beautiful walks on the doorstep, including Cadyr Idris, if you enjoy mountain walks and Snowdon easily accessible as a day trip.
For adrenalin junkies, there is a white water rafting centre and a high ropes centre just a few miles from Bala .
Bikes can be hired in Bala and there are 2 excellent off road cycling facilties at Coed Y Brenin and Llandeglar Forest a short car journey away. For stunning coastal scenery and a lovely family cycle ride , the Mawddach trail just outside Dollgellau is a must . This flat cycle track runs for approximately 10 miles to Barmouth, along the Mawddach estuary. It is lovely.
For shoppers , the historic town of Chester is approximately 50 minutes away , with its famous walls, great shopping , zoo and Cheshire Oakes Designer Outlet park.
About Jane Jones
We are a family from Birmingham. We bought Hysbysfa in 2008 as we loved the surrounding countryside and wanted a breath of fresh air every few weeks. Our 2 young daughters have loved staying there as they have far more freedom to have adventures than they do in the big City! We hope you enjoy it as much as they do.
