Amazing Home That Has Everything!
Loved everything about this home! Very spacious. super large kitchen with everything that you could possibly need or want.
Living room with fireplace. Large front patio with seating. Plenty of refrigerator and freezer space. Large windows with Amazing views. Very comfortable beds Centrally located for touring and very close to airport. Loved the Village. People were warm and friendly. Especially loved Ann at O’Neills Pub. She is very sweet and lovely. Thank you Gillian for leaving a binder with lots of information. Really came in handy. You left no Blarney Stone unturned😊
A Great Centrsl Location and all the amenities you could want.
The property is a lovely large home overlooking Lake Fenloe. We had a wonderful time, as we all had our own room (5 women), but could congregate in the kitchen and lounge to watch tv. oring the west, ring of Kerry, Ring of Doyle, Cliffs of Moher. Grocery stores are close and there are wonderful pubs in the village. The people of the village are friendly and helpful. Gillian is a great hostess, and if there is a problem she is on it immediately, I would recommend this location.
Fantastic for grandchildre.
Five bedrooms! There isn't a thing in the world that you might need, aside from fresh food.
Just got home ( FL ) dog tired.
Lovely home in a lovely village
Thank you, Gillian, for a wonderful week. Our family of 9 people and 3 generations fit perfectly in your spacious home. We loved the enormous sunny kitchen with the large table. My children had a great time playing soccer and exploring the yard during our times at "home." Everything we needed was available. We will miss our home away from home.
Great House Close to Shannon Airport
This house was a great base for day trips in this region of Ireland. It is literally only 12 minutes from the airport. We did the Cliffs of Moher (stop into the Moher Cottage for the best Cappuccino, and a beautiful view on their back patio), Castles, The Latin Quarter in Galway and drove to Dublin. Dublin was a little less than two hours on the Motorway. We parked at the Red Cow and took the LUAS into the city proper. Of course the Guinness Storehouse Factory was in order, and was a great time.
As for the house, very comfortable and super clean with plenty of towels. Your host Gillian is always a phone call, text or email away and will return your contact very quickly and solve whatever problem that might arise. Our only problem was with the wifi one evening and she got it fixed extremely quickly. There is a very thick folder in the kitchen with tons of info on the local area. The Weavers Inn in Newmarket on Fergus has awesome food and quite possibly the best Sticky Toffee Pudding in Ireland. And stop in to O'Neills Pub for the best Guinness in town. Ann is a sweetheart and will make you an awesome Irish flag shot! These establishments are only 5 minutes from the house. All in all an outstanding place to stay.
Surfing beaches approx 40-50 mins drive. Nearest is Lahinch, with numerous other beaches and coastal walks only slightly further away including Doolin, Fanore, Spanish Point and Kilkee.
Nearest airport is Shannon which is a 15-20 minute drive away.
Car hire is available at Shannon airport. Use of a car is essential.
The property is situated equi-distance from 3 villages - each approximately 3 miles away. The villages are Newmarket-on-Fergus, Quinn and Kilkishen. All have traditional pubs and there is choice of restaurants in Newmarket and Quinn.
Ennis town is a 20 minute drive. Limerick city a 35 minute drive (where there is a fantastic open-air market Saturday mornings). Galway is a 50 minute drive.
Fenloe was the site of a monastic foundation in the early sixth century and is the oldest recorded settlement in the Newmarket area, although the existing church ruin overlooking Lake Fenloe dates from the tenth or eleventh century.
Quinn Abbey, a few miles down the road, is a ruined Franciscan Abbey. It was built in the early 15th century on the remains of an earlier Norman castle and is recognised as a National Monument.
Knappogue Castle, a few miles down the road, was built is 1467 and is a magnificent example of a medieval tower. It has a beautiful walled garden originally constructed in 1817. A great night out for all the family is experiencing a medieval banquet at Knappogue.
Craggaunowen Castle and Historic Park, a few miles down the road, is another fine example of a 16th century restored Medieval Castle. The historic park is great for children to learn about early Bronze Age settlers and Ring Forts.
