About this property

LUXURY COTTAGE IN STUNNING LOCATION, HIGHLANDS OF SCOTLAND

Shepherds Cottage is located within the Lochcarron Estate in the Scottish Highlands, and provides self-catering accommodation for up to 6 people.

The Cottage dates back to the early 19th Century and was purchased by the current Owner in January 2014.  The property was completely rebuilt during a substantial renovation project lasting 1 year.

From the floors to the roof, everything became ‘as new’ (in 2015).  The Owner spared no expense on the highest quality and attention to detail.  Today, the Cottage is of the highest specification whilst retaining classic tradition, resulting in a perfect combination of ultra-modern with period design.

For those wanting to get away from it all in a unique and remote setting, Shepherds Cottage is one of a kind.  Surrounding you are hills and Lochs and the deer graze right down by the house while the river bubbles past. You can fish from the banks of the Loch for native brown trout and you can walk for miles and see nobody.

The only neighbour within several kms is Glasnock House (same owner / also holiday rental).

paradise
An absolutely stunning location and place. We truly enjoyed ourselves. The rain only gave us a chance to enjoy the fire place.

A reall 'get away from it all' stay...
We arrived at the cottage on Christmas Eve. The scenery on the drive up and surrounding area is amazing and the cottage is tucked away in a remote area. The directions were spot on and we found the cottage in amongst the snow covered hills and sheep! We had a 'one man and his dog' display one morning as the shepherd took the sheep uphill. The cottage has everything you could wish for and more. The log pile is well stocked for the fire which we had on every day. We had a laugh on boxing day when the pipes froze and we couldn't get any water! We were brought fresh supplies and it only lasted for a day. There's lots of good walks and lovely villages to drive to and eat out. Kishorn Kitchen will deliver freshly made meals that you can put straight in the freezer if you don't fancy cooking. Definitely try the coriander chicken (which I've managed to get the recipe for!). It's a real home from home with lovely touches and high end finishes. A great place to relax, unwind and kick back.

A hidden highland Gem
The Sheppards hut name conjures up images of warmth and comfort in remote mountain settings. The cottage hits all of this and more with highland country elegance, wonderful heating, loads of piping hot water, and yes Stags and Deer roaming the grounds. The setting is amazing and not too remote with mountains outside the door but the Kishorn seafood bar only 10 mins away. The owner could not be more friendly and helpful and the place is spotless. A must return place.

With the help of architects and interior designers I wanted to turn Shepherds Cottage into a luxury retreat, a sanctuary for people like me who love to get away from it all but who want to do so in a luxurious environment with all the benefits of modern technology.

Shepherds Cottage is the ideal getaway for guests looking for peace and tranquillity in a brand new modern home.

Why they chose this property

I completed the build of GLASNOCK HOUSE (the only neighbour) in 2011 and when Shephards Cottage went on the market I couldn't resist another project.

I love spending time here, far away from my hectic lifestyle and I think this house would appeal to anyone wanting the same from their holiday.

There is so much to do in the local area - gorgeous deserted beaches, excellent hiking trails, or fishing and stalking.

Otherwise, make the most of the masseuse who lives nearby, or Alison the Chef who will come and cook at home (or deliver delicious home-cooked goodies). You don't even have to leave the serentiy of the cottage if you don't feel inclined!

What makes this property unique

Set on the vast Lochcarron Estate, the cottage is down a 1km track and the private plot is enclosed with full deer fencing allowing the garden to be completely dog / child proof! You can walk for miles all day and not see another soul!

The cottage boasts magnificent views over the mountains of Applecross to one side and the Torridon mountains to the other, also overlooking Loch Loin.
