Situated only 15 minutes outside of Waterton Lakes National Park, The Sunset Cottage has the privacy, comfort, and charm to make your vacation a rejuvenating retreat! Nestled inside the friendly hamlet of Mountain View, with a panoramic view of the gently rolling hills of Southern Alberta’s beautiful farm country, this is a place you will want to return to again and again! *****Please note this house is 100 years old and in the winter months the kitchen and bathroom floor is cooler. We recommend bringing a warm pair of socks or slippers for your stay****

Our 750 square foot cottage has just undergone a complete and thorough upgrade, making everything inside and out modern, fresh and new! Sunset Cottage sleeps 8 people and includes two bedrooms. The master has a queen bed, and large closet for storage. The second bedroom has 2 bunk beds (4 twins), and huge drawers for tons of storage, as well as some bedside shelves and a mini-closet. Each bed has its own reading light and electrical socket for personal use. A portable crib is also provided.

A comfortable family room includes an electric fireplace for cozy evenings, a couch (pull-out sofa), 2 sofa chairs and a flat screen television/BLUERAY player (movie collection provided). From the comfort of the family room you can look out the large double full glass sliding doors at the picturesque view of the mountains and sunset to the west, or you can enjoy these gorgeous views from the beautiful new 400sq foot deck just outside.

Sunset Cottage has a fully renovated new kitchen, including a new dishwasher and microwave, as well as a large table perfect for meal prep, dining, and game nights! The kitchen receives natural light from 3 directions, and is a gorgeous centerpiece of the house. It is also fully stocked with dishes, cups, utensils, pots and pans, crock pot, rice cooker, toaster, electric pancake griddle, and coffee maker.

The beautiful full bath has gentle natural light, and includes a tile shower with ceramic tub combination, and pretty counter/sink. A full size washer and dryer are included, and are enclosed in a closet in the bathroom for your convenience.

This beautiful property offers a 1/2 acre of land with a fire pit, tree swing, hammock, and BBQ.

Other amenities included with your stay are: WiFi access, board games, outdoor games (football, soccer ball, basketball etc...), and roasting sticks for the campfire.

Great spot for exploring

The house was great and had everything we would need to go exploring and come home to a nice relaxing clean spot. The back yard view was amazing and the kitchen is well stocked. The labels on everything were very helpful. The beds were comfy and we really enjoyed our time here.

Great house.

This was an amazing house. It was well appointed and exceptionally clean. The house is located within a block of the small country highway, but I heard very little noise inside. The house is very close to Waterton and I highly recommend staying here.

Sunset Supreme

Lovely cottage with upgraded appliances, full kitchen and comfortable outdoor surroundings. Nearby Waterton National park gets dark earlier than Mountain View, so its possible to drive back at evening twilight from the park to the cottage where you can still enjoy watching fabulously stunning sunsets for another half hour or more!

Nice Accommodation - Calming

We enjoyed our stay and the location was very nice. Easy access to Waterton and great hike there. Originally thought prices were in CDN $ and got surprise of extra $ for conversion from US $. Deck screen door was very sticky and needs attention. Overall the stay was very enjoyable. Thank you.

Relaxing Oasis

This cottage had everything we needed and more. The location and amenities surpassed our expectations. It was the perfect location to activities in Waterton and historic sites within an hour drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would look to stay again when we return to hiking and enjoy activities in Waterton.

Cozy Cirbers

We loved this little bungalow. It was clean well-equipped, and close to Watertown. Loved the horses and cows nearby. Never saw the sunset due to heavy smoke, but we loved our 3 nights here. Our host was very responsive and made some good suggestions as to activities. Keep the price reasonable, and we’ll be back!

Peaceful getaway

This was everything we were looking for. A quiet house with all the amenities in a rural area away from the noise and crowds of the city. Breathtaking scenery. The hosts thought of everything that anyone could possibly need in their cottage. Would definitely stay here again.

The property is well laid out with everything we needed. The outdoor firepit is well positioned. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and had everything we needed. Perfect writing retreat

I spent a week at Sunset Cottage for quiet reflective time and a quiet space in which to write. The Cottage was welcoming, clean, comfortable, and with everything I needed. The Christmas tree was a lovely addition. And the mountain views provided all thde inspiration I needed while I spread out my writing materials on the large butcher block table in the kitchen. I will be returning!

Great place close to Waterton

We loved our stay at the Sunset Cottage. It is a quaint, nicely decorated vacation home. There is everything you need to stay, make meals and enjoy your vacation. It is close to the highway but you cannot hear any traffic and with many trees along the property, it feels very hidden and quiet. The owners were always quick to respond to any questions we had and were very accommodating. We will stay here again!

Girls weekend

This property is so cute and has a great lay out to accommodate many people comfortably, and the property is easy to assess right off the main road. The owner is very responsive to any emails and lovely to deal with. The kitchen is well stocked ,and the thoughtful extras of coffee, teas, spices and soaps are greatly appreciated. The beds are very comfortable, and bedding /linens ample. The only drawback is the smell of the well water, however the owner has provided bottled water. Overall we would stay again or recommend this property for anyone

Fantastic Cottage for Waterton Visit

We really enjoyed our stay in the Sunset Cottage. It is spacious for a family of four and is equipped with everything that you could ever need. The view from the living room is beautiful. It was the perfect home base for our family's visit to Waterton. It was great!

Such a cute, clean cottage!

This cottage is well stocked with everything you could need - even roasting forks for the fire! The cottage is immaculately clean and everything is labeled to make finding things a breeze. I appreciated the coffee and extra supplies throughout the house. The property manager was extremely responsive and helpful. We enjoyed the hammock and the outdoor deck - it was the perfect rural setting for grilling, eating and watching the sunset. The only thing I would recommend is for guests to bring their own drinking water - the water in the cottage has a sight odor and taste to it that we didn’t care for - but I’m sure this is just due to the location of the property. Book a stay at this lovely cottage - you’ll be so happy you did!

Amazing experience. Location and cleanliness of the house is very nice. Just fabulous experience. Just like to add one thing only. You can tell to customers in advance about water filter faclity so they can may be bring their own water jug to get filter water. But overall was very good experience.

Cozy Cottage

Overall, this cozy cottage was the perfect place to stay and very convenient to Waterton National Park! It was very clean, beautifully decorated and had all of the amenities that we could have possibly wanted. Great touches by labelling the light switches! Our adult children stayed in the room with the bunk beds. They all had a rough time sleeping on the mattresses which made noise each time they moved in bed and the plastic covering was just too hot. The second night, they ended up sleeping on the pull out couch. Only other suggestion is to put a marker at the end of the driveway. We drove right by it since it is tucked so well in the trees. A little flag or marker at the end of the driveway would have been helpful. We almost tried to get into the neighbors house!!

Pleasant stay in Mountain View

Nice property with everything we needed. We cooked in and appreciated Nicole’s suggestions as to where to buy groceries along the way. We enjoyed hiking in Waterton which was a short drive. Loved sitting on the back deck - even though the highway was close by - it seemed secluded and peaceful.

Perfect location

My husband and I spent 5 nights here this month. The property is lovely and very comfortable. There is a large deck overlooking the mountains as well as a fire pit. We were not able to use either because the weather was cold during our stay. The plus side to the cold weather was snow covered mountains the second morning we were there. We visited Waterton Lakes NP and the east side of Glacier NP as well as Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a small but very interesting museum. I can recommend this property without reservation.

Welcome to our (your) home away from home! My name is Stephanie, and this charming little home is the culmination of my life-long dream--to hold a sliver of property in the hamlet that captured my heart as a child: Mountain View, Alberta. I grew up in this extraordinary place, then left to attend college at BYU in Utah. After graduating, marrying, and starting a family, my husband and I began a lengthy search to secure property in my hometown so that our children could frequently experience the wonders, beauty, and adventure of this most remarkable haven on earth! This year we decided to open up our cozy abode (AKA Sunset Cottage) to other families and individuals who are looking for the perfect place to relax and recoup between all of their adventures and memory-making in the fantastic Waterton Park area.

Why they chose this property

We love the comfortable coziness of our cottage, as well as the privacy of our property. On one side the cottage has an area that is completely sheltered by trees. This is where we spend our evenings laughing and relaxing around the fire pit, where the trees protect us from the wind, and we can enjoy the beauty of the stars.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location! Really, the location is so ideal. Our home is sheltered by trees, but just across the road is a wonderful country store with several amenities, including--but not limited to--delicious waffle ice-cream cones! Our family loves morning walks (either for ice-cream, or exercise!), afternoon catnaps in the hammock, and starry-night evenings by the campfire. The brand new large deck is the perfect viewing location to watch the frequent breathtaking sunsets, lie on your back and look at the stars, or maybe even catch a glimpse of the occasional Northern Lights (if you are super lucky!).

A significant and unique benefit of our vacation home is the combined skillset of our vacation home managers, my brother Brandon and his wife Nicole. Both are known for their kindness and attention to detail. They will do everything in their power to make your stay exactly what you have in mind. Brandon is the mastermind and master-carpenter behind the gorgeous renovations you will see throughout the house. He can do pretty much anything, and is on call should you need anything at all! Nicole's expertise and passion is in the travel and tourism industry. She loves serving people, and helping them discover the wonderful things our area has to offer. Nicole has worked serving tourists in several premier Waterton Park area hotels and restaurants, including The Prince of Wales Hotel, and Waterton Lakes Resort. She has connections to many local businesses, and can offer unique Vacation Packages to our visitors. Nicole is also an avid runner, hiker, cross country skier, adventure-seeker and mother of 3, and can give you first-hand recommendations and information on most of the area's trails and sightseeing.
