This beautiful new home is the second situated on the shore of Payne Lake just outside of Mountain View, Alberta and within 10 minutes from the entrance to Waterton National Park. Perfect for a couple wanting to get away or a large family gathering for a week or two. Close to other attractions like Cardston, Fort Macleod historical fort and Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, and Castle Mountain ski resort. Summer water activities are ideal outside your back door and this lake also is a popular site for ice fishing in the winter. Wooded areas are within walking distance as well. Sleeps 8. Please inquire regarding additional visitors and relevant fees.
This property is available in 2 separate suites - the main floor with 3 bedrooms (other listing) has a full kitchen and a spacious living room along with two full baths. The lower suite (THIS listing) has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Book separately or RESERVE BOTH FLOORS for larger groups with a total 20% discount from the entire house price (which you'll be refunded when you reserve and complete both bookings). You'll love the spacious interior with vaulted ceilings and large picture windows facing the lake and mountains to the west. Link to the Lower Floor here:

We never tired of the view of Payne Lake and the mts.Clean and well equipped but having luggage racks in the bedrooms would have been nice.Beds were comfortable. Lots of room for the 3 of us.

Great stay!!!

Loved the location with the lake behind us. We spent many nights sitting outside watching the sunset. The interior was clean and modern. We loved having two bathrooms.

Great property with amazing location

We enjoyed our stay in this property. It is a spacious and beautiful property in a beautiful location. The property is well designed and with great views. It is also very close to Waterton National Park. Wayne was very responsive and prompt.

Gem near Waterton National Park

It was a ladies weekend and the accommodations were perfect. Great location, great space, well equipped, relaxing and quiet. We were only 20 minutes away from the park and were able to commute with no issues.

Very nice home with fantastic view over Payne lake to the Waterton Rockies (when clear). An easy 25 min drive from the townsite. We rented the 3 BR bottom level that had immediate parking out the door and was very well kept with nice kitchen, dining room and living room looking out over lake. Host (Wayne) was very helpful with immediate communications about some minor issues that arose. No negatives. Could be tricky to find after dark with no street names or house numbers so the directions the host sends for getting there should be followed carefully.

Incredible scenery and a very comfortable house for our small group of five. The place was overall very clean, though we did notice a few things missed (like paper and small items under the bed). We were disturbed one night by the septic alarm going off—likely just bad luck that it happened in the middle of the night. There was also a water level alarm, and on our last day the Wi-Fi was down, but that was probably due to a power outage.Soundproofing could be improved since we could clearly hear conversations from the upper suite. That said, the surroundings are so beautiful and peaceful that none of these inconveniences spoiled our stay. I highly recommend this property and would definitely return!

Glad you came for a visit. Because these lakeside properties require cisterns, we do receive notices every so many days or weeks for them needing to be serviced. The entire neighborhood had power out for a few hours as luck would have it when you were there.

Pros - great view and we loved having the lake in our backyard. Cons - the thermostat was a nightmare. I spent way too much of my vacation time on this. I would give this place two stars because of the number of issues we had EXCEPT Wayne responded to me in the middle of the night when the a/c reset AGAIN! If you want to be able to control the thermostat, book the upstairs unit. If you don't care that every set of guests and the cleaners hit a button and take away your ability to control it, book the downstairs. We liked being about 30 min from Waterton, and an hour from the US entrance to Glacier. The Barn store in Mountain View is a great little place - try the Maple Walnut ice cream and the Maple Cream cookies!

Thanks for your feedback. We have several dozens of groups through this house each summer and thermostat issues are rare. The house is new and was designed specifically for each zone (floor) to have their own independent control and that's why it generally works well. While each new group has the ability to adjust things on the thermostat this also poses a potential problem that occasionally occurs. Unfortunately we had a few issues and I was quick to respond and intervene. The guest had unique temperature requirements that added to the challenge but we got it sorted out.

Works for Waterton Nat. Park

Much better than the overpriced rooms in Waterton. We are hikers and this house is about 15 minutes from the main gate to the Park. You will be on gravel road for a couple of miles. Good gravel road but your car will get dusty. The house itself is basically brand new and easy to live in. The appliances were all excellent and the air conditioning was excellent. Actually it's in the shade most of the day so you don't really need air conditioning. All communication with the owner was excellent. If I could wish one thing it would be a much thinner blanket than the comforter but that's just me. The views of the lake are very relaxing.

Loved it!

We really enjoyed our stay! The house is beautiful. Lots of space. The view from the house is beautiful and it's an easy drive to Waterton National park. I wish I could steal the master Bathroom and closet because they are amazing! Lol! I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it! My wish list of things that it didn't have that I wish it did is small and not really a big deal. I wish there were clocks in the bedrooms (but we all have phones anyway), I wish there were dressers to put clothes in instead of places to hang them and I wish there was a yard the kids could play in. None of these are necessities though and I would 100% stay here again! Great place and a great first experience with vrbo.

The biggest problem with this lower unit is the noise from 2 sources: (1) the noisy furnace runs practically non-stop and it is impossible to turn off from the lower unit because it is shared with the upper unit. From the master bedroom, I had to keep the bathroom door closed to cut down on furnace noise. (2) the connecting stairway to the upper unit is a sound conduit. I do not think the party in the upper unit was particularly loud (no parties or loud music or late/early hours) but simply having a dinner with 6 people in the upper kitchen was like having all those people were sitting in the kitchen in the lower unit. The conversation was loud and crystal clear from several persons. We put a towel under the door which helped a little. The unit is a little bare -- it needs some lamps (or even better, put the living room and kitchen lights on dimmers), and some spare blankets. The unit was basically clean except some items in the kitchen which are often ignored in these types of rentals. The view is not quite as isolated as it appears, there is a farm and buildings across the way and lots of construction on the street where this property is located. With these caveats, the unit is as depicted. If we were in the area again I would stay elsewhere or in an upper unit -- not the lower.

Thanks for your feedback. In the planning and building of this new house we went to extra expense to add sound proofing insulation between floors - anticipating some noise transference. We may add insulating features to the door as well. Of course in the neighborhood there will be some new houses being built, but now that the neighboring ones closest are done there is likely less of that going on for a season or two.
