'House of Dreams' on laid-back finca, nr Vejer, Sunshine Tour & beaches

Translated as the 'House of Dreams', the Cortijo del Sueño is the spacious original old stone country house that sits the heart of eight ecological acres of the private El Sueño finca - carefully renovated to retain a real sense of local history and character, with its own private swimming swimming pool. The Cortijo harmonises home comforts with traditional local design and architecture, to provide a unique and spacious country house full of mellow charm in peaceful, natural surroundings tucked in a small valley between an ancient cork oak wood of El Soto and the protected coastal Natural Parque of La Breña y Las Marismas beside Vejer de la Frontera.

Perfect for families and friends to enjoy by themselves or share, as well as those attending the international equestrian Sunshine Tour and Autumn Tours held at Dehesa Montenmedio close by, the Cortijo can comfortably sleep up to eight guests in four double en-suite bedrooms. Two bedrooms offer king size four-poster beds, while a further two rooms each offer twin singles (which can also be made up as super-king double beds) - arranged in pairs of one double and one twin each, so ideal for two families to share. The main double bedroom has an ensuite shower room with a large walk-in shower, while the three other bedrooms each have a large bath with shower over. All four bedrooms have patio doors that open out to a balcony that runs the length of the first floor, with table & chairs perfect for a morning cup of coffee.

Downstairs there is a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine (& dryer for Winter months of December-March), electric oven and gas hob, microwave and large fridge-freezer - well-stocked for those who are keen to cook or when the Cortijo is booked with one of just four smaller Casitas at the top of the finca (including one with mobility access), so can comfortably accommodate groups of up to 16 guests to eat and socialise together outside in the warmer months on a shaded terrace with a large traditional BBQ. The separate dining room with a large oak table can seat up to 10-12 guests inside during cooler months and there are two sitting rooms with comfortable sofas & armchairs for relaxing, including the Snug which is perfect for curling up with a book or favourite film with a smart TV. Wifi, board games, books and a box of children's toys makes this the ideal property for all ages to enjoy spending time together - while still large enough for everyone to have their own favourite corner. In the cooler Winter months of mid December to end of March, heating is included with both wall heaters in bedrooms and underfloor heating in the living rooms, while the weekly clean and linen change also includes a wheelbarrow load of seasoned wood for the Snug fireplace.

Just a few steps is the the private enclosed swimming pool (open April to October), with its large natural stone patio, shaded tree trunk pergola & a poolhouse with bar area & private bathroom/changing room to enjoy - while in the acres of shared central gardens of the finca behind the Cortijo there are two children's play areas and a games area with large board games and table tennis. Infront of the Cortijo are the water meadows and a private lake (not accessible due to protected wildlife) and views across up to the hilltop 'white village' of Vejer de la Frontera.

Our prices include complimentary children items, Wifi, all utilities, bilingual daily caretaker, secure private parking for several cars and the final property clean on departure - while the price for a two week booking also includes a light general clean on the middle Saturday morning, with a full change of cotton bedlinen and bathroom towels (& firewood in Winter). A bilingual childminder, an arrival shopping service and bike hire including delivery/collection are also available on request subject to availability, as is additional housekeeping. Please note that although our cancellation policy is 'strict', we always re-advertise any cancelled dates regardless of the reason in order to then refund any (net) payment received for the re-booking of any dates.

El Sueño Finca is a relaxed & mellow retreat in a peaceful rural location, the antithesis to a managed holiday resort - where adults can sit back and relax in their own private space, while kids of all ages can explore and meet new friends if they wish in several acres of shared central gardens with two play areas and table tennis. Welcoming new & returning guests for 20 years, El Sueño is found in one of the most unspoilt areas of the Costa de la Luz, nestled into a secluded valley by the sea between the hilltop 'white village' of Vejer & the seaside towns of Zahara and Barbate.

Tucked within organic laid-back grounds including a Bees & Butterfly Garden, there are just five individual properties sleeping one to eight persons - offering guests a choice of individual accommodation for individuals, couples, families and friends as well as larger groups. The spacious and private Cortijo is perfect for families and friends to enjoy to themselves, or use as a base for larger groups up to 16 guests as there are also four Casitas (cottages) located at the top of the finca offering 1-3 bedrooms sharing a second swimming pool. Two bedroom Casita Mimosa is particularly suitable for those with mobility/wheelchair requirements, although both our three bedroom Casitas are also popular as all on a single level.

Just minutes away are miles of glorious beaches, delicious restaurants & tapas bars to suit all tastes either in town, beside the sea or tucked in away in rural settings, along with a wealth of shops & markets, stunning nature reserves & a range of activities from wildlife tours, cycling, surfing, horseriding to whale watching for all ages. Dehesa Montenmedio just 500m away with its renowned NMAC art centre, acres of natural deer park, 18 hole golf course and international annual equestrian events, while within easy reach for a day trip are many of the historical and cultural gems of Bolonia, Cadiz, Seville & even Morocco to explore.
