Gorgeous setting

The house and setting are simply lovely. There's not much more to say than that. Everything was very comfortable, exactly as pictured. Overall it was a wonderful trip. Do know that the location is modestly remote, so don't plan for easy restaurant or grocery store runs.

Found my paradise!

The location is amazing! Our family had the best vacation staying at Camp David. Kathy, the owner, is wonderful and always available to answer any questions. Amy review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning William, the neighbor; we so enjoyed meeting and getting to know him during our stay.

Camp David: A Lifetime Memory

The beautiful crescent shaped inlet is one that is beyond words. Afternoons and nights on the porch and in the hot tub are indescribable. Camp David is a beautiful home that has amenities like one's personal home. Our family (child age 17 and 12) thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Camp David. The use of the Carolina Skiff makes the trip unforgettable. Each day we went our and adventured. We chased a shark (a few times) and used the go-pro, we made videos of rays, saw puffer fish, star fish in abundance the size of dinner plates, and had some great footage while snorkeling. One day while walking while the tide was low, we even saw two sharks mating and took a video for my science class. IF YOU ARE A BONE FISHERMAN, this is the place for you. In fact, people come from all over to Casaurina Point to do this type of fishing. While there, you must follow lots of Kathy's advice which is on her website. For example, go buy some lobsters (if out of season) and cook on her grill. Make sure you get someone to take you out a little deeper and catch some snapper. We did. The fresh snapper cooked in the oven (whole) for about 25 minutes and then put on the grill were to die for. Nothing was better than the three nights we cooked at home and enjoyed the view. Make sure you rent a car from the suggested place that Kathy has on the website. The car was clean and the people nice to work with. We enjoyed using the car to travel to Pete's Pub (twice). The food is good there. Take the walk over the walkway to to rocks and go out to see where the old lighthouse stood. We stayed at Camp David for six nights. Then we moved on to Hope Town for four nights. When we come back, we will stay at Camp David for the entire ten nights, use the Carolina Skiff for close proximity of the home, and rent the same 26' boat from BlueWave Rentals that we had the last four nights for the entire trip. By doing so, we will have the perfect house, setting, fun nearby, and a way to travel to other islands for just the day or afternoon. (You would have to moor the boat a little deeper and make sure to know the tides as far as taking the bigger boat out.) Without a doubt, I would return again and again. In fact, I would love to bring my son and a couple of friends for his senior trip. One can not ask for a better host or hostess than Gary and Kathy. Both go above and beyond to help one plan and and feel at home. Stay at Camp David. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!

Camp David is a Perfect Getaway Retreat

What can I say that hasn't already been said in other reviews about Kathy Heacock's properties? It is as advertised and more. If you are looking for a place to relax by the ocean and get away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place. We have rented properties from Cape Cod to Key West, California, Hawaii and 13 Caribbean Islands. We have returned to various places, but never to the same property. However, we will absolutely return to Camp David next winter. If they rewrote the 1980's book,In Search of Excellence, they need to include Kathy's Abaco Palms Properties for how to run a vacation rental business. We own two rentals properties and our stay at Camp David has inspired us to upgrade our rentals. For example, she provides five boats for four rental properties...who else would do that??? I own a boat. It is very expensive to maintain, when used properly. If you rent one of her properties and use one of the boats, please take note of where all of the sand bars are located at low tide before venturing out. I witnessed two different boats drive right over the sand bar near low tide traveling at fast speeds which damaged the motors. Kathy's customer service is second to none. She provides a tremendous amount of information regarding the property, as well as, things to do in Abaco and restaurants to visit. We highly recommend the Sandpiper Inn and to utilize Debbie Burrows for dine-in experiences, her lobster salad was awesome and she is a very nice person.

Absolutely amazing!

This is a beautiful, richly appointed, 3 bed, 3.5 bath beach house 30-40 yards from the most beautiful water you will ever see. And two of the bedrooms are master suites!! My wife and I and her brother and his wife spent 10 days here and had a very quiet and relaxing time. Kathy and Gary Heacock were the consummate hosts. They took care of our every need. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. In fact, we left the island feeling like they had become a part of our family. The bay in front of the beach house is like a giant swimming pool. It is 3-5 ft deep to about 150 yards out depending on the tide. Great for swimming, looking for shells, or snorkeling. Fishing was fabulous. Did I mention that a Carolina Skiff comes with the rental! We used the boat every day and caught enough fish to eat the whole time we were there. There are also paddle boats, canoes, etc. for your use. I could go on and on so just check it out for yourselves! We WILL be back!!

Perfect Relaxing Vacation!

We have traveled for the last 4 years with another couple and a teenager or two. This year we chose Abaco and my husband found Camp David. Fishing is very important to him, especially bone fishing (fly). Casuarina Point is the right place! And Camp David was the perfect villa for a party of 5. Casuarina Point is about 20-25 minutes south of the airport in Marsh Harbor - a rental car is a must. Kathy will provide all suggestions and instructions of where to rent, shop, eat, fish, etc. A stop at the grocery in Marsh Harbor, and the liquor store is recommended before heading to Camp David. The house is very thoughtfully designed, all on one floor. There are two master bedroom en suites on opposite sides of the great room. The beach-side of the house is fully windowed and wow...what a view! The third bedroom is on the street-side of house with twins and en suite. All bedrooms have TV's. The kitchen is nicely equipped and proportioned. It even has a bar icemaker which is a plus! Kathy provides recommendations for in-home cooking and we strongly recommend Debbie Burrows! What a sweet person who prepares delicious Bahamian fare! Lobster tails, fish, chicken, conch chowder, conch fritters, rum cake, cole slaw (to die for) & the BEST key lime pie....you won't be disappointed! And have her come prepare your meal at Camp David! The porch overlooking the beach got a lot of use! Coffee in the morning...hot tub relaxing during rain or after coming off the beach (showered first)...sunset cocktail time and after-dinner star gazing. Ahhh... The beach has powdery white sand that stretches for a great walk in either direction. Because of the location, the water is very shallow and full of sea life! Sand dollars, queen conch's, sea stars, star fish, lots of fish...you'll love it! The skiff was very much put to use for exploring and fishing! We visited Great Guana Cay on Sunday for the Nippers BBQ Sunday Funday - quite a party. Ferry service is out of Marsh Harbor. We also visited Hopetown on Elbow Cay & Man-O-War Cay via charter boat. Treasure Cay is a beautiful beach with azure water - try Coco's for casual lunch/drinks and enjoy the beach! We were at Camp David 9 days and didn't see and do it all. Most importantly, we relaxed and my husband bone fished with a guide. Can't say enough nice things about Kathy & Gary - they really go out of their way to make your trip enjoyable! Can't wait to return!

No place more relaxing than Campy David!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Kathy who runs the coordination of booking. I'm so thankful I found her and Camp David! We had a five day/four night "ladies getaway" stay in December. The customer service was perfect from booking through leaving, I promise, no detail was left unattended. I do a lot of traveling and this was the best and most personal experience I've encountered. The house itself was steps from the beach, extremely modern, and so comfortable! A big bonus for us was having the kayaks, paddle boards, and boat as we utilized all of them every day, all in great condition! We also utilized the hot tub and hammock every day, talk about relaxing! It felt like you had the beach to yourself, sure there are others out and about, but this is a friendly and low-key area to enjoy. I hope we get to have another stay sometime in the near future :-)

Amazing trip!

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Camp David the last week in August and I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our trip! The house was the perfect size for 2 couples and 2 young children. The kitchen is equipped with anything you could possibly need. We got a ton of use out of the gas grill as well. The beds are memory foam, so a little firmer than what I'm used to but not too bad. The deck and the property are amazing! It was like being on our own private island most of the time - we saw maybe 10 people total on the beach over the course of the week. The sand is powder soft and the bay is shallow and even in the wind was calm enough to enjoy. It was nice to not have to worry about my 4 & 5 year old being knocked over by waves as they played in the surf line. We made use of the kayaks and paddleboards as well, though we did not have the opportunity to get out in the boat. Kathy was extremely helpful throughout the rental process as well as throughout our time at Camp David. She was literally an email away for anything we needed or any questions we had. We have rented many vacation houses over the years and this is one of my favorites - we will definitely be back!

Dear Mrs. Kathy, 7/31/16 I'm still in disbelief of Camp David! It exceeded my expectations!!! Our family enjoyed it tremendously! God's creations are Awesome!!! You're accommodations were the BEST! You are a perfect planner! You went the extra mile to make sure our stay was the BEST! You're attention to the little details were greatly appreciated! From the closet of games/videos/ medicines/bathroom amenities to the decor of Camp David.(I want to know the significance of Camp David's name) Your 3-ring binder book was the Best! Giving a map to find the coral reefs and the blue hole - simply above & beyond! This is and was the best restful, relaxing, and peaceful vacation ever! I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart! 50th Birthday Celebration!

WOW! This was truly one of the best vacations we have ever had. We were 3 couples all reaching 50 and we considered chartering a yacht for the week but this turned out way better. The back porch is amazing and the ocean was like a postcard. We were all so glad we chose this house as it fit us perfectly. We rented a van to go into Marsh Harbour and though it was a good 20 minute drive... we planned excursions for every other day so as to allow plenty of time to chill. The beds were super comfy, the AC was great, the outdoor shower and hot tub were awesome.. and the whole experience was just a blessing! We chartered a large catamaran with "Bruce" at sailtheabacos.com. What a fantastic day of snorkeling and sightseeing. We also went to Hopetown one day and rented bikes. Fly fishing can't be beat as well. We topped off the week with an incredible, artful cuisine from chef Antonio of the Oasis restaurant. He and his staff came to the house for a meal we won't soon forget! Can't wait to come back to this paradise in Abaco. The Heacocks truly thought of everything to make this an unforgettable vacation destination!!

Family vacation perfection

Our family of 5 had a fantastic time in this beautiful well appointed home. The location could not have been better. We had a wonderful time playing in Cherokee Sound with the paddlebords, kayaks and the boat. Everyday was an adventure. We cannot say enough great things about the property or the owners. Camp David

Our stay at Camp David was exactly as promised. Kathy was great to work with and assured we had all the information we needed. The home was well taken care of and beautiful. The beach was gorgeous. The water calm and beautiful. The colors that the water changes throughout the day were amazing. Thank you Kathy. We have rented a lot of homes and you by far were the best to work with. The fishing trip my family took with your recommendation of the gentleman that lives down the street was a lot of fun. They also filleted our fish for us and they were delicious. Thank you

Truly amazing

We vacationed at Abaco Palms Properties recently (from September 26th through October 3rd). We have traveled many places over the past forty years including the Bahamas several times, and I have never written a letter of recommendation before. We were introduced to Abaco Palms Properties by friends and looked forward to exploring a place we had never been. We stayed in 'Camp David' which far exceeded our expectations. We appreciated all the amenities of this gorgeous, completely furnished, specious home which we absolutely loved, including the breathtaking beach front views (white sand and ocean). The spa, motor boat, paddleboards etc. were all an added bonus. It was so convenient having at our disposal the small necessary essentials we did not bring with us and did not have to rush out to purchase. It would be very remiss of me if I did not mention how accommodating Abaco Palms Properties management was in making our entire trip effortless from reservation until our return home and always being readily available to us. Please accept our deepest appreciation and know that it will be our utmost pleasure in recommending your properties to all our friends and family. Thank you again for a spectacular experience. Perfect

I stayed at camp David with my husband and three boys ages 13, 11, and 9. The house and location was exactly as we had hoped, beautiful and perfect! The owners, Kathy and Gary were wonderful. They were helpful in so many ways to make sure we had a perfect vacation. They helped us coordinate a spear fishing trip with a local named Glen. Glen was also top notch. He was more than accommodating with our group. Not only did he take us spear fishing but gave the boys a banana tube ride off the back of the boat. To end our outing he took us to a "Blue Hole" which we all, including my 75 year old father and 70 year old mother all jumped into. That was a once in a lifetime opportunity which you could never find without a local. It was an awesome day for all of us. Camp David is an ideal place to enjoy relaxing and doing nothing but was also capable of keeping three busy boys active and outside fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding and exploring for a week. None of us were ready to go home. We definitely recommend camp David or renting any other property from Kathy. We not only left with great memories but felt like we made friends with the Heacocks. We hope to return for another week maybe two! --

A little piece of paradise

We have just spent 2 fabulous weeks at Camp David. The kitchen has every utensil you could possibly want and more. The lounge area has plenty comfortable seating where we would sit in an evening relaxing and gazing out across the bay. The beds are extremely comfortable and the deck has shady areas where you can sit when the sun gets too hot. Casurina Point is on a beautiful white sandy bay with a turquoise sea. It is a very quiet location where you can chill and relax. We went snorkelling, fishing and sailing. We went out in the skiff nearly every day fishing and caught yellow snapper which we cooked on the barbecue and they were great. We also had endless fun on the kayaks and sail boards. However if it is nightlife you seek this place is not for you. The supermarket in Marsh Harbour has a great range of fresh and frozen food with something for everyone. The large fridge and freezer at Camp David meant we could stock up and only needed to shop a couple of times a week. There are also plenty places to eat in Marsh Harbour where we often called for lunch. When you can tear yourself away from the beach there are other cays to visit via the ferry dock in Marsh Harbour. Elbow Cay is a must, Hopetown is so quaint. Kathy and Gary are wonderful and if you need anything or have a problem they will sort it immediately. This is our 4th visit to Abaco and we will return.

Beach House at Abaco, Bahamas a great place for family vacation

We had a great time in Abaco, Bahamas and at the Camp David home (Abaco Palms Realty/Kathy Heacock). The house has everything you need in it. It is a very nice house right on the beach and the view is spectacular. The kayaks, sail boards, and skiff boat were an added bonus, as was the hot tub and hammock. We made our way around the area and to Duck Cay and the very small Island closest to shore to snorkel, swim, etc. Debbie the housekeeper cooked dinner for us on Monday night for my son’s 9th birthday and it was great (conch fritters, grilled chicken, lobster, mac & cheese and rumbly thum, with a birthday cake). We found the blue hole that was south of Casuarina but never found the one on the side of the road to the north. That was fascinating. We visited Treasure Cay and Guana Cay (snorkeling at the beach reefs there was neat). We found the reefs by the small island near Camp David but never found any others in that area. We saw sea turtles daily just south of Camp David, star fish, sea biscuits, a flying fish, lots of birds, etc. It is a vacation to remember and we want to return some day.

AMAZING!!!

We enjoyed Kathy and Gary's place so much! It was more than we ever expected. Kathy provides so many extras that makes traveling to the Bahamas so easy and enjoyable. The house is so beautiful and the location is amazing. Loved sitting on the porch every morning as the sun came up. We had dinner at Curly Tails and loved it. Ate at Wally's one night but it was our least favorite experience. Our last night there we asked Debbie to cook for us. She prepared a wonderful lobster salad, fish, sides and key lime pie. The meal was wonderful and we really enjoyed having her there. She is so sweet and accommodating. This is definitely a place that I will visit again! Thank you again for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

Camp David at Causarina Point

Camp David was a perfect getaway! We loved the views of the crystal, clear waters from the expansive, front porch and also from the comfort of our king size bed. With just a few steps down from the porch, the beautiful beach is very accessible to both young and old. By renting a car at the airport, we were able to explore the island with ease and enjoy some local restaurants. The kitchen is very well equipped with anything you need for meal preparation; however, one of the highlights of our visit was having a local cook prepare an authentic Bahamian meal for us at Camp David. I highly recommend Camp David for anyone looking to kick back and enjoy the natural beauty of Abaco!

Camp David at Casuarina Point

Casuarina Point is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The protected cove has crystal clear blue water in which you can see the starfish and shells for hundreds of yards. We enjoyed the beautiful views and sunsets. Four of us (two couples) stayed in one of the rental houses (Camp David) right on the beach. There are actually two master bedrooms in the house we stayed in. Both had a king bed and tile and granite bathrooms. We stayed busy exploring the island from one end to the other. Lunch in downtown Marsh Harbor at Snappas was a treat. Very fresh fish. One day we took the ferry to Hope Town on Elbow Key. Hope Town is a lovely town where you can climb the lighthouse and explore the town on a golf cart. No cars allowed. Another night we went to Pete's Pub a very popular local gathering place. The property manager recommended a cook to come to our rental house and cook a real Bahamian dinner. I highly recommend that. If you like to snorkel, fish, swim, lay in a hammock on the beach and read a good book, this is the place for you. I wish we had stayed longer, but we had to move on to another place. The owner provided us a detailed book with all the information to enjoy our stay. I think they thought of everything!!! I highly recommend Camp David at Casuarina Point.

My husband and I first visited Abaco and Casuarina Point in 1996. We were hooked! We vacationed there with our 3 sons and decided to purchase property and build our dream, beach home - Abaco Palms, in 2005. We built Kokomo in 2009 and added Camp David, a 3 bedroom 3 and 1/2 bath, and Calypso, a 4 bedroom 2+bath house in 2013. Our now grown sons still LOVE to spend family time in Abaco at Casuarina Point. To us it is heaven on earth!

Why they chose this property

Casuarina Point is a unique location. We enjoy the beautiful, crystal clear shallow water in front of the house, and we are protected by the reef out front that is so fun for snorkeling and fishing. There are many uninhabited islands to explore - private beaches for swimming and picnics - blue holes to explore - bone fish to catch - nature to discover - the list can go on and on! It is a great location for kayaking - Our Abaco Palms Properties have 13 kayaks - 4 tandem, 7 adult, and 2 child size that work for up to 130 pounds. There are a few at each of our 4 houses, and you can borrow from the other houses if you need a different combination. We also have paddle boards - 7 stand up and 3 knee boards so far. Camp David comes with a 16' Carolina Skiff - moored in front of the house and it is perfect for exploring the area. This is not possible at most ocean front beach houses - the reef's protection makes it possible. Our white sand beach stretches for miles - a perfect walking, exploring beach. Try it - you will be hooked, too!

What makes this property unique

All of our rentals include use of 16' Carolina Skiff. (We have 4 houses and 5 boats - so we have a backup if there is ever a problem.) There is a boat moored in front of each house for your use to go fishing, snorkeling, or exploring the many small islands in the area. There is a Vita SPA hot tub on each deck, and 13 kayaks, 6 paddle boards, and 3 knee paddle boards for our guests use for exercise and exploring. The houses and decks have spectacular views -and you walk right out on the beautiful, white sand beach with crystal clear water. It is a setting that can't be beat!
