Whether you are looking for a secluded hideaway, or an action filled vacation, you will find it here. You will enjoy your dream vacation where you'll have the opportunity to swim, fish, and engage in all types of water sports. You can also golf, bike or hike, to name a few.
Each season is so picturesque with clean blue water, shimmering in the forefront of the mountain scenery backdrop. Wake up to a beautiful sunrise and bask in the sun on our private beach. Play all day in the crystal clean lake water. Wind down your day and take in the evening sunset and sky scape view. You may even catch a double rainbow after a light rain shower. Enjoy the abundance of wildlife and pleasing flowers surrounding this sanctuary. You'll be in awe the moment you arrive. Lake Champlain, is truly fabulous every day!
Summer days are long, warm and lazy - you will want kick back and relax to enjoy the natural wonders of the home's flower gardens, graceful birds, and of course the peaceful water!
AUTUMN, is a remarkable time to observe the vibrant colors of the changing leaves, mirrored upon the lake! The eye-catching views are tremendous to see.
Inside our charming home, every room is tastefully decorated, with all the amenities for a very pleasant stay. The open concept living room, dining room and kitchen, offers cozy furnishings for relaxation, and breath-taking views from every window.
The kitchen is well stocked with all of the necessary kitchenware, if you choose to cook. The oversized kitchen is equipped with stainless appliances: dishwasher, microwave, range, and refrigerator. A huge breakfast bar easily seats 4-6. A coffee bar, with a Kuerig coffee maker and electric tea kettle is conveniently located adjacent to the kitchen. While, the dining room, comfortably seats 6.
FAMILY GATHERING AREAS:
The stylish living room, has oversized, comfy furniture. The gas fire place, creates a calm and romantic ambiance.
Enjoy a cup of coffee on the open-air porch, while you chill-out in one of the Adirondack chairs. The gentle breeze and warm sun will lift your spirit and melt your worries away.
The charming sun porch, is quaint as well. It is a cozy place, where you will want to spend hours viewing the lake, mountains and sky! Our comfy porch is a great place for an afternoon nap, to recharge yourself.
Slip over to the family entertainment room, for some fun. Again, the mesmerizing lake and mountain views from the huge wall of windows, will leave you speechless. This room is a great retreat for sharing laughs, playing games, watching movies, or snuggling up with a good book.
BEDROOMS / BATHROOMS
The master bedroom, has a comfortable queen size bed and a convenient master bath, with a large shower. The first guest bedroom, has a queen size bed. The second guest bedroom, has two twin beds. The guest bedrooms, share a full bathroom with a tub/shower enclosure.
Take a few steps from the back porch to the private beach for a cool dip in the pristine lake. Perhaps, you will enjoy casting your fishing line in one of the best fisheries in the nation, Lake Champlain of course! Water sports are big here too. You can either bring your own craft or rent one from the Hero's Welcome rentals, phone: 802 372 4161. They will deliver the boats right to the house. Hiking or biking along the quiet back roads of Alburgh, is where you'll find a variety of beautiful wild flowers, colorful birds, farm animals, and other intriguing sights.
If you appreciate birds and wildlife, the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, is only a 3 minute drive away. For information regarding visitor activities, search online: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Missisquoi, Vermont.
If you are looking for adventure, take a drive across the border to Montreal, Canada. The historic area of Montreal, known as "Old Montreal," offers rich culture and beautiful architecture. Montreal is about an hour drive from the home. While you are in Canada, take advantage of the distinctive shops and excellent dinning. Don't forget your passport!
Another great city to visit is Burlington, Vermont. A trip to the Church Street Marketplace, is a fantastic way to spend a day shopping, dinning or “People Watching." You will definitely want to experience the charm and culture of this unique city. Plan an evening strolling along the streets of Burlington, listening to live entertainment. Make sure you stop for an icecream treat at the famous Ben and Jerry's. There are some great micro-breweries you may find interesting. Not far from the marketplace, is the Burlington Waterfront Park. It is only a short walk to see more gorgeous views of Lake Champlain! Make sure to catch the sunset over the glistening water and mountains. The park offers several large food and music festivals, with the Burlington Bike Path stretching along it's eastern border. You will definitely want to snap a few photos for your vacation album.
The ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, is both educational and fun for all ages. Next to the aquarium, is Vermont's largest floating restaurant and cruise ship, the Spirit of Ethan Allen. Enjoy a great meal and a scenic cruise.
There are many wonderful shops and restaurants along the water too. It takes only 45 minutes to drive to Burlington, and is well worth the drive.
In addition to Burlington, there are several other attractions to see as well, like the famous Vermont Teddy Bear Company in Shelburne VT. While you are in the vicinity, take the family to the Historic Shelburne Museum.
The famous Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream factory is located in Waterbury, VT.
As you visit these great spots, you' ll want to map a route to see Vermont's historic covered bridges. The back roads to the bridges are indescribably beautiful to see.
The New York State side of Lake Champlain is just minutes away from our home. As you travel across the U.S. Rt. 2, Rouse's Point Bridge, look for the historical landmark, Fort Montgomery. Fort Montgomery, is the scene of a fierce Revolutionary War battle for control of the Hudson River. Entering into Rouses Point, you will find a quaint little village, with a few shops, a trendy Lakeside Coffee Shop, a wine/ liquor store, boat rentals, restaurants and more. The Amtrak Railway station is also located in Rouses Point.
If you have additional time, you may want to check out Plattsburgh, NY and visit the Champlain Centre North Mall and area restaurants. Treat the family, with a ride on the Plattsburgh Ferry to Grand Isle, VT. The ferry, will connect you to scenic route US-2, through Vermont's Champlain Islands, heading back to Alburgh.
Additionally, some of the best attractions are located right in our town of Alburgh, and in the Champlain Island vicinity. The area has much to offer: 4 State Parks - Alburgh Dunes State Park, Burton Island State Park, Knight Island State Park and Grand Isle State Park. Many of the parks offer entertainment and other interesting attractions. Look for the “Islander”, a free local newspaper, for dates and times events throughout the islands.
Lake Champlain also has lighthouses: Isle La Motte Light House, Windmill Point Light House and the Burlington Breakwater North Lighthouse.
If you like mountain hiking, you've come to the right place. Vermont has 2 major hiking trails running along the Green Mountains. Check out the information about the type of hiking trails available.
Golfers, will appreciate a day of sunshine and greenery on the Alburgh Springs Golf Course. Have lunch after a round of golf, at the Links on the Lake restaurant.
St. Anne's Shrine, is a historical site where the French erected a Fort and Chapel on Isle La Motte. Saturday and Sunday services are held at the open church. Make sure to catch the majestic sunset there, before you leave!
Grab some lawn chairs, kick back and listen to some of the local area bands play music Thursday evenings, at South Hero' s Snow Farm Vineyard. There is no fee, so be sure to support the vineyard shop and purchase some fabulous win to sip, as you listen to the band. Wear comfortable shoes, so you can kick up your heels to dance!
There are plenty of local restaurants in the Islands that serve delicious meals: North Hero; Shore Acres Inn, and the North Hero House. In South Hero; Blue Paddle Bistro. Ruthcliff Lodge, is located in Isle La Motte, and the Ransome Bay Inn, is located in Alburgh.
Family and friends will enjoy taking an evening drive along St. Albans Bay, for a Creemee (frozen custard), followed by a stroll along the water's edge to view the brilliant sunsets there!
Vermont, is home to road biking and touring and also mountain, and fat biking! All the best trails and bicycling routes are highlighted when you search Google for “Plan Your Visit" (Vermont). Also, you can order a free travel guide to organize your actvities.
The Champlain Valley Fair, is a great attraction for visitors, and it's held annually at the end of August. The fair is fun filled for everyone. The entertainment and attractions are the best!
On another note, Vermont, is famous for the World's Best Foliage. In the fall, our rates are lower, too! Enjoy apple picking, corn mazes, and autumn festivals! You will definitely want to pick up some delicious Vermont maple syrup for the kids' pancakes,too.
