Charming, restored cottage sleeps 4

La Maisonette has been lovingly restored around an old chapel. High ceilings provide excellent natural light and highlight a stylish blend of contemporary living with many original architectural features. The cottage sits at the back of a sleepy hamlet where an ancient mule track winds into the forests behind. The woodland can also be enjoyed from the comfort of the garden as guests can expect to see local fauna whilst barbecuing in the open air. The cottage affords spectacular views of the valley where homesteads and hamlets nestle in distant escarpments.
 
La Maisonette is replete with two bedrooms. The master offers the possibility of a twin or double bed. We can also add a cot if requested. This room offers direct access to the garden and woodland beyond. The second double is characterized by its exposed timbers, stone and mezzanine.
 
The fully furnished kitchen blends stylish and spacious living with many rustic touches. It is well equipped and perfect for family dining. The open plan design incorporates a living room complete with double sofa bed and large mezzanine
 
The bathroom is chic, complete with a roomy walk-in power-shower, bidet and all the essentials.

Whilst the back garden looks out over woodland, the front terrace offers a covered seating area with views over the hamlet and formidable precipices beyond.  Perhaps the quirkiest feature is the statue of 'The Black Madonna di Oropa', upon which La Maisonette is built around.

Great House in a Glorious Valley

We had a great stay here in September 2023. The house itself is one of the best we have stayed in over the years, clean, spacious and well-equipped. It was great to have a properly equipped kitchen to cook in and the garden at the back was lovely to sit in during the day or to eat out in the evenings. The Gressoney Valley itself is beautiful, superb walking, lovely villages to visit and we even found a nice swimming spot in the Lys just down from Lilianes. We intend to be back.

Très beau gite au calme

L'accueil de Silvia ainsi que ses conseils ont été très importants pour nous. Nous avons apprécié la qualité des échanges et sa disponibilité. Tout ce dont nous avions besoin était disponible dans la Maisonette. La localisation de la Maisonette nous a permis d'explorer le Val d'Aoste ainsi que Turin et ses environs

Fantastisch!!

We hadden een ontzettend fijn verblijf in dit huisje en op deze plek. Het huis is met veel aandacht en liefde gerestaureerd, met een fantastisch resultaat. Alles is aanwezig, en functioneert. Het is erg fris en schoon. Prachtig tuintje aan de achterzijde, erg privé. Heel erg leuk en goed contact met de verhuurder en haar moeder. Ze houden je op de hoogte van alle festiviteiten in de regio, en informeren regelmatig of je nog iets nodig hebt. Heerlijk moestuintje met verse groente, waar je gebruik van mag maken. Of ze komen even verse sla uit eigen tuin brengen. Vanuit het huis verschillende paden te bewandelen, watervallen en zwemmeertjes (paradijselijk) op een half uurtje lopen, rivier en dorpje op 300 meter. Eigenlijk hoef je de vallei of het dorp niet uit. Echt fantastisch!!

Uncrowded Italy

The owner’s description of the property is very accurate, lovely private backyard, comfortable and functional kitchen, a place to park your car, etc. Those things we expected and got, but there were two other things that left a more lasting impression on us, the location and the privacy. Fountainmore, the town where La Maisonette is located, seemed so natural and real, not touristy, truly a beautiful oasis. As for privacy, the biggest crowd we saw was a herd of cows. We were very happy to have chosen this property. One more thing, the hosts were great!

Siamo una famiglia di 4 persone, abbiamo appena trascorso 10 magnifici giorni alla Maisonette di Silvia, la casa é bella e ben equipaggiata e il paese di Fontainemore é in una posizione ideale, vicino a Gressoney e all'autostrda, da dove in una ora si raggiunge Torino e tutte le localitá della valle d'Aosta.Molto consiglato per i bambini il parco avventura di Fontainemore

Wunderschönes Chalet in idyllischem Bergdorf

Wir verbrachten eine Woche in Fontainemore und fühlten uns sehr wohl in dem geschmackvoll eingerichteten und sehr gemütlichen Ferienhaus "La Maisonette". Das Haus ist ideal als Ausgangspunkt für unterschiedliche Aktivitäten, wie Skifahren, Wandern oder Klettern. Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch die absolut ruhige Lage am Waldesrand. Die Vermieter Sylvia und Billy sind unglaublich nett und gaben uns ein paar gute Tipps, was wir in der Faschingswoche machen können.

Capodanno a Fontainemore

Casa davvero accogliente e molto pulita. Spaziosa per 6 persone. Le camere sono grandi e comode, il bagno e’ nuovo e la cucina e’ ampia e ben attrezzata (manca solo il forno). Nel cortile dietro la casa c'è un grande tavolo per mangiare all’aperto e un pezzo di terra che da proprio sul bosco e sul parco. La zona e’ tranquilla ma a due passi dal paese. Fontainemore e’ un piccolo paese molto carino e caratteristico. Siamo stati qui nella settimana di capodanno e abbiamo partecipato agli eventi organizzati dalla pro loco. Davvero tutto spettacolare! Menzione speciale va alle padrone di casa: Silvia e Mariuccia, gentilissime, sempre disponibili, attente a tutte le esigente e molto affettuose. Ci hanno dato ottimi suggerimenti sulle gite da fare, i luoghi da visitare e i posti dove mangiare.

I love meeting new people and cultures, especially those with little contact of the “outside world”; it can be like opening a new book. Some of my favourite places include the Andes, the Gran Sabana in Venezuela and the great Tibetan Plateau. I also love to return home and feel lucky to be blessed with such a backyard.
Languages are another passion of mine and I've been dragging out a linguistics course over the past decade. If you speak Spanish, French or English, then I would love to learn a few more useful phrases.
I live near to La Maisonette, one floor above my mother, a true Valdostana. Unlike me, she is indestructible, feels no cold and can be seen daily tending to her vegetable gardens or cooking polenta over a hot fire. Mariuccia, aka “Patch” has a wealth of stories, knowledge and experiences passed down through the generations.
