About Brenda Considine
Our family has been traveling to Jamaica since 1999. Our two sons absolutely love the country, culture, and the numerous activities that Jamaica has to offer. We love being near the ocean and the tropical weather. For the vacation to feel like home, we wanted to stay in a villa instead of an all-inclusive resort. We have found that having a house to ourselves provides the family setting we were looking for!
Brenda Considine purchased this Villa in 2013
Why Brenda Considine chose Saint Ann Parish
Prior to purchasing Seahorse, we were very familiar with the bay area and Rio Bueno. Having vacationed at a villa located on this beach, we knew this location would be idea for our beach home. The private setting and the quaintness of this bay community was the selling point for our family. Sitting in the middle of the bay, the view is fantastic as you look out to the sea. Away from the hustle and bustle of the two major ports, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, we find that we really relax and unwind. However, we are just a short journey to the two cities for food, activities and nightlife.
What makes this Villa unique
The new renovation of the villa in 2015 completely changed the appearance of the villa inside and out. New tile, tongue and groove cedar ceilings, new windows, and an additional bathroom are just a few of the changes inside. On the outside, a privacy fence was completed around the perimeter of the property with new landscaping and a gorgeous swimming pool. When you first walk into the Seahorse, you have that feeling of comfort and being at home!

An ultimate experience of total R & R in a very private setting!
My husband and I decided on a last minute 4 night trip to Jamaica to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. We wanted something different than a resort. We ran across the Sea Villa on VRBO and after contacting and inquiring with the owners, we had it booked the same day, only a week away from our departure. Brenda was great to work with on such a short notice. We brought along our 16 year old daughter and a friend of hers. Upon arrival at the airport, the driver Andrew met us and took us by the grocery store on our way to the villa. When we got to the Seahorse, we were greeted by Chappy and Margaret. All smiles. The villa was just as pictured on the website...incredible views, beautifully decorated, very private. We thought the 16 year olds may get bored but they enjoyed everything as much as we did, and yes, WIFI worked great:). We planned on doing a few excursions but we were all perfectly fine with just enjoying the Seahorse Villa and not going anywhere. One morning we went deep sea fishing, caught some fish which Margaret cooked for dinner. We had some groceries delivered as well by the local country store which worked out great. The fresh flowers on the tables added additional flair. House and pool were impeccably clean. The staff was very accommodating and made you feel very welcome. Food prepared was plentiful and very tasty. We enjoyed all three meals at the villa. The perfect location of the hammock on the beach under the breezy trees was the favorite! We enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle boards. We used an additional service and contacted the masseuse that Brenda had recommended, Caroline Gabbidon. She came over one morning together with another masseuse and we enjoyed a very relaxing couples massage right there on the beach, under the trees. The last night Chappy made his famous bon fire which we all enjoyed. In all, our last minute get away to Rio Bueno couldn't have been better. We will definitely return and stay longer next time. We travel a lot and have many options available to us, but this was a gem, a slice of heaven that is truly perfect for those who desire nothing else than pure R & R in a private setting. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Wonderful stay at Seahorse.
We had a wonderful week at Seahorse. The setting is beautiful--a relatively quiet bay with just a few other vacation homes on either side with the village of Rio Bueno in the distance and a reef offshore. The staff was wonderful--attentive without be intrusive. House is beautifully and thoughtfully appointed. Food was great (we asked Bridget to prepare largely traditional Jamaican fare--Aki and Salt Fish, Jerk Chicken, Red Snapper, Curried Goat, etc.). All delicious. Andrea the housekeeper, kept the house and patio spotless. And Chappy the caretaker, was there for anything we needed, including stories and information about the local area. Our goal was to just relax, swim, read and enjoy, and this was a wonderful setting for that. And the driver that Brenda and Dan (Seahorse's owners) recommended, Andrew, was also a real find. We hired him to take us on a mid-week excursion to Puerto Maria (Ian Fleming and Noel Coward area) and some other sights. And before the stay Brenda was very responsive in answering our questions about Jamaica, the house and staff, and things to do in the area. In total, a great stay. If we come back to Jamaica (and we probably will), we'll stay at Seahorse.
Internet was a issue! For some had to work. Other then the the staff was awesome as well the house e
The property was beautiful as was the house! Staff was like family and took very good care of all our needs ! And we’re always willing to give a little extra for us ! Teaching us to play dominos and making a remberable birthday for one of our guest
Thank you for staying with us at the Seahorse! Playing dominoes is my favorite past time at night listening to the waves crashing on the beach. Chappie is the master of dominoes! We finally have the WiFi resolved with Digicel stopping their service to the bay, and FLOW has opened service up to us. From what I am hearing back from Jamaica, WiFi is not a problem at this time. I am so sorry for the inconvenience or lack there of --of internet. Thanks so much for being so patient!
Our Second Stay, But We Hope Not Our Last
My wife, daughter, and I returned to Seahorse in December after a visit in June. We certainly hope to return again. The house offers the perfect entree to the Jamaican sun and beach, and we enjoyed both immensely, especially knowing that we'd be returning to a frigid New York.
In our June visit, we enjoyed free mangoes and apples from the trees on the property. They were not in season in December, and we ended up paying more than we expected for apples from a local market -- so the lesson is to consult with the staff before ordering fruits and vegetables.
Many thanks to Chappie, Abigail, and Andrea, the wonderful staff of Seahorse, and we hope to see you again soon!
Being a guest of the Seahorse twice in one year is super fantastic for us and the staff! So happy that you chose to come back and we hope that the second time was just as relaxing as the first. I am so sorry that the fruit was not in season during your second visit. You will have to come back again in June to enjoy more apples and mangoes! Thanks so much!
3 couples spent almost a week in this beautiful, cozy and comfortable home. It was such a relaxing vacation! We were halfway in between Montego Bay and Ochos Rios. The staff were simply amazing. They became like our family on just the second day. We ate all meals outside and spent most of our time lounging in the many conversation areas outside as well. Abby's cooking is divine! The men in our group needed help with our rental and since Chappie knows everyone, (smile) we were able to get resolution really fast. The house stayed clean, laundry stayed washed, our belly's stayed full. This was one of the best trips reconnecting our friendships (and we go somewhere different every year). We will definitely come back with our children.
If you are looking for nightlife, entertainment, etc., it's nowhere close. The bay the house sits on is very quiet.
The pubs/ restaurants close not long after dark. You do need a car if you stay in this area.
Thank you for choosing the Seahorse for your couples' vacation. We try very hard to set up a relaxing atmosphere where families and friends can sit back and enjoy the ocean. Thank you so much for your kind words regarding the staff! They aim to please!
Perfect Couples Getaway
From the minute Andrew picked us up at the airport to the minute we were hugging good bye to Chappie, Andrea and Abigail was perfection! The home is clean, warm and inviting. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with private bathrooms that were perfect for three couples. The outside area is relaxing with plenty of seating, a hammock, large table/eating area and card table (that saw the longest UNO game ever!) We took full advantage of the kayaks and paddle boards during the day.
Chappie could not have been more helpful, kind and personable. He was the first person up everyday and the last one to bed everynight. The bonfire on Thursday night was a special treat that he takes great pride in creating. Andrea went out of her way to keep the house spotless, the evening turn down was an unexpected treat,! Abigail is a true gem! She cooked us delicious meals and was more than helpful when shopping for the weeks groceries. She is an easy going and kind person to be around. We have made three friends for life !
It is true that the WIFI is spotty, but it worked fine for the few times someone needed to check in at home. But, you are on vacation..... it was not a big deal to us. When shopping for your groceries, it is not necessary to exchange your money. I recommend you use your debit /credit card or cash. They accept all - we made the mistake of exchanging our money at the airport and lost some in the conversion. Do not use the airport for this service - if you want to exchange money, ask Andrew or Greg to take you to a bank for the best rate available.
Andrew and Greg were our drivers for the trip - it was easy to set up pick up from the airport via a phone call and email to Andrew. They are knowledgeable about anything you want to do and you get a history lessons on the way! Andrew spent an entire day with us traveling from Dunns River Falls to Blue Hole with lunch in between. He even suggested a lunch spot and a quick shopping spot -
I could go on and on about this house, the staff and the easy to work with owners, but all I need to say is ... book it, do not hesitate! You will not be disappointed. It is truly a small slice of paradise in Jamaica. THANK YOU Dan and Brenda for sharing it with us, We will return............
We absolutely loved having you stay at the Seahorse! It sounds like you had a wonderful trip and with lots of fun activities! We would love to have you guys come back! We finally have the WIFI situation fixed with a new provider to the bay! Thanks for kind words regarding the staff. They loved you guys!
