About Alvaro Aguirre Saez

We're a multicultured family of 4 - my wife Estelle is French, I'm Spanish - our children are currently 8 and 3 years old.

I have recently moved to work in the US, so we are set in southern california. As a result, our lovely family home is up for rent until we decide what to do with it in the long term.

Alvaro Aguirre Saez purchased this house in 2012

Why Alvaro Aguirre Saez chose Bidart

We bought this house as the main family home and as such equipped it with quality materials.

As a family with young members, our habits are pretty "family-set" and we made sure the house was set up with that in mind.

We love cooking so the kitchen is completely new, with nice and well thought out logic.

I have worked on the garden landscaping to allow room for play and relax. The rooms are confortable and very practical.

Also, the living space is, while contained, more than enough to sit back and enjoy.

From a geographical perspective, the house is great - sitting in a quiet neighbourhood from which to relax in the evening.

It is only a couple of minutes from Bidart town centre, supermarkets and beaches - but also from Biarritz and Bayonne.

What makes this house unique

- We love the fact that our children can play outside, as it is a constrained community with security gates.

- Beaches only a whisper away

- Very nice plug-and-play house.

A quality property in a nice, peaceful area of bidart.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying in this very up together property. Nice open plan living area downstairs and good parking outside. 10 minute drive into Biarritz and 5 minute drive to the nearest beach in Bidart. Nearest supermarket is 5 minutes drive. A great location to explore the region. San Sebastian being a favourite of ours. About 50 minute drive. Would recommend the property and area and would love to go back in the future. Located 10 minutes drive from the airport which takes a lot of the stress out the travelling. Alvaro was really helpful and provided lots of advice and guidance before our trip.

We're located a little offset from the typical tourist traffic and city buzz, so you'll find quiet and relaxation if that is what you're after.

Literally 2 minutes away from home is a nice rural outside restaurant called "Le Moulin de Bassilour" which is great for evening with the children if you don't fancy cooking. The setting is very pleasant and the food is typical basque.

Driving to the village of Bidart (about 3,5 minute drive) are 3 or 4 nice restaurants including a Pizzeria, a Brittany Crepe specialty restaurant and a couple of brasseries which are nice for early morning breakfast or a cup of wine throughout the day overlooking the town hall and the basque views.

From an sport / activity perspective, the variety is so vast that I prefer talking to our guests and recommend specific activities for their liking. We are an active family so can recommend things to do both in France but also in Spain - the Spanish Basque country holding many wonders and less known gems than its French counterpart.

Don't miss the abudant offer of beaches in the 50-80 kms from home, both north and south. There is choice for every liking.

My personal favourite is the "La Plage d'Ilbarritz" located 5 minute drive from our house and home to 2 restaurants. La Plancha has amazing freash food, served overlooking the beach itself (no reservations, arrive early...) and the Blue Cargo, very well known amongst the Paris and Metropolitan visitors for its great night atmosphere.

Other beaches that are a must-see include Hendaye, a very long/wide beach

that is great for families. It is also a very nice spot for beginner surfing.

If you're after solitude, drive north to the Landes, where you will find your peace. Kilometres without end of sandy beaches and nothing but you and the sea. Beware however of the strong currents in certain places. We like a spot of beach west of Messanges. Don;t forget to take the bike with you - you'll use it among plenty of trails.
