This 2floor traditional house, dating from the late 19th century, is located in Ano Syros, the medieval town of the island of Syros. It is located right on the Markos Vamvakaris Square, 50 m. away from the Piazza, the main commercial street of the town, where the visitor can find restaurants, cafés, a grocery store and cozy handicrafts stores. There is a pharmacy close by the Kamara entrance.To be noted that no vehicles are allowed in Ano Syros.

This exceptional house (119m2), was renovated in 2003. It includes 2 bedrooms with one king size bed each, and one sofa double bed in the living room. There is one WC with shower on the first floor and one en suite bathroom on the ground floor bedroom. The kitchen is bright, comfortable and fully equipped while from the living room’s windows or the large terrace you can enjoy the view to the town of Ermoupolis, the port and the fantastic deep blue sea water, overlooking Tinos, Mykonos and Paros islands. The house is an excellent choice for families, couples on romantic getaways or a group of people up to 6 persons.

Quirky old house in a fascinating village

This house has bags of character along with all the basics you need for a successful holiday. The owner is friendly and helpful and it has great views down to the sea. There are also several tavernas and bars within a few minutes walk or more accurately climb. The village is mostly vertical so there are steps everywhere, which is something to consider if you lack mobility. The outside space of the house also involves climbing steps and isn't really suited to outside dining. I think this would have bothered us if we had been staying for more than a few days. The other downside is that there is very little everyday food shopping available in the village itself - the mini-market only seemed to open for a couple of hours in the evening - and the bus service is infrequent so hiring a car is pretty essential. Overall though, we were happy with our choice and enjoyed staying in an old village which had a proper Greek atmosphere..

Why they chose this property

 Ano Syros was built by the Venetians around 1200. It is an amphitheatrical historical city, built on the hill and for years it has functioned as a natural fortress for the locals. It is situated northwest of Ermoupolis and it still maintains all its medieval charm. Countless steps that pass by the white houses and arches at the edge of the hill lead you to the top of the village where the catholic Cathedral of Saint George is situated.

What makes this property unique

The distance from the center of Ermoupolis and the closest beach in Vaporia , is just 3kms . It is a nice, quick walk on foot connecting old and new town, or you take the mini bus from Ano Syros (Kamara entrance) and be there in about 10 min.
Furthermore, in case you have rented a car/motorbike you can park it at the parking area of Portara entrance which is just 200 meters away from the house, or you can call a taxi. Taxis are normally available in 5 min.
To visit most parts of the island including most of its wonderful beaches you can use the local bus service which is cheap and reliable.
Hiring a car or motorbike is recommended for independent travel and exploring less crowded, charming spots of the island.
