Such a fun and unique place to stay in the mountains! The owners were so accommodating and welcoming. We enjoyed watching the bison and other animals, playing air hockey, and exploring the ranch.
We had so much fun surprising our kids (toddlers) with staying overnight in a caboose on a bison farm! We definitely would like to come back with more family.
Amazing experience and looking forward to returning! My boy's loved riding the mini horse, playing at the playground, feeding the animals, and making smores at the firepit. Their service was amazing, everyone was friendly, helpful, and when I had questions and asked via email, they were quick to respond.

Our boys LOVED the animals, trains, and game room. We loved hiking the property and relaxing on our porch! A great little getaway for families!
We stayed one night prior to dropping daughter off to a nearby summer camp. Loved the property and the caboose was perfect for the two of us! Haywood cafe down the street has the best coconut cream pie!

This was an incredible experience. The caboose was clean and everyone was very friendly. The animals were the best part of the experience. I recommend helping as much as possible with feeding the animals and really immersing yourself in the experience.
We so loved our stay and the kids especially loved all the animals around to see and pet! The host was great and we were able to get buffalo steaks and eggs from there night there on the property for our meals! Will definitely come back!

This a is a really unique and cozy place to stay. The location is super beautiful and extremely quiet. And who knew there would be alpacas, a mini horse, a mini donkey, goats, chickens, a turkey and the friendliest rabbits I've ever met?
It was perfect for my husband and me and our teen son.

Thank you for your 5 star review! Glad you all enjoyed your stay at Buffalo Creek Vacations. Cheryl
Stay was great. Watching the Bison was even cooler. We got to watch the feeding and then later that afternoon we watched them out of our window. If we have any that was less than amazing, it would be the road in. It's a little rough in spots.

About the host

My brothers & my husband had shared a vision of expanding my fathers buffalo ranch when additional property became available to purchase. With all our knowledge & experiences combine we have built 4 log homes & have been renting them out since 2004. Once my husband retires from the US Army in about 5 yrs our dream will be to build our log cabin on the property & be more hands on. God has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams. We hope you love the mountains like we have all come to love being transplants from a very flat NY!
Why they chose this property
My father had a love for trains & it was his idea to purchase the cabooses & turn them in to vacation rentals, We thought it would be very cool to tie in w/ the bison. Kind of gives it an 'ol western feel! Most folks think you have to go out west to see bison & they are surprised to find a herd in the Smoky Mountains of NC!
What makes this property unique
While staying at in our 1960's restored caboose we feel you will really enjoy the peace & tranquility of being secluded on 65 acres. The children will just love looking out the windows & literally seeing the bison roaming out in the pasture! Another great amenity is the kids being able to "unplug" & take a hike to our custom designed playground as well as seeing the miniature horse, buffalo, goats & llamas.
