ABOUT OUR CONDO: This is a beautiful 3 bedroom, 1 bath condo with the best ocean view in the complex. The unit was recently fully remodeled. It is nicely appointed with many comfort features including ceiling fans throughout and air conditioning. Beds are comfy with dressers and closets in each room. The new kitchen offers a dishwasher and every cooking amenity including a microwave with a bonus pizza oven feature. There are laundry facilities inside the unit including a front-loading Whirlpool washer and dryer. We offer 300 mbps high speed internet and FREE WIFI. Our Netflix account is open to you for streaming movies. We have a Samsung smart TV, and a DVD player and a few family movies (bring your own favorites or rent from Redbox in Long’s Drugs down the road). A crib and high chair are available for the little ones. Our unit is super quiet. We are in our own three-unit building so we are fortunate in that we do not share walls with any other units, just one neighbor above and one neighbor below. We have great neighbors too! You are provided with a designated parking stall and plenty of guest parking.
WHY CHOOSE OUR CONDO: We offer a unique experience to every traveler. We do our best to make sure your stay is excellent and perfect and catered specifically to your family. We want you to feel welcomed the moment you walk in the front door. The condo lacks nothing a traveler would ever need while on vacation. You could literally arrive with just the clothes on your back (and a bathing suit) and find our condo well stocked for your entire stay. We provide toiletry items as well as coffee, tea and water…the essentials for survival…lol!. We have boogie boards, beach toys, snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, towels, a beach umbrella and a child sized paddle board (120lb. max) with portable surf racks to transport on top of your rental car. We have games, cards, puzzles, movies and fun stuff for the family. We are always buying new things and keeping the place updated. We buy the best sheets and they are replaced often. We are meticulous about cleanliness-this is very important when renting a private home. We insure that our condo will be well stocked and clean and cool as we offer air conditioning and ceiling fans. Please read our reviews to find out why we specialize in awesomeness :-).
OUR AREA IN OAHU: We are located in Makaha. We are on the leeward side of the island on the Waianae coast, home to the Spinner Dolphins. We are one mile from world famous Makaha Surfing Beach and 5-10 minutes from several other popular west side beaches including Yokohama Bay (Keawaula Beach) and Poka’i Bay (child and baby friendly). Golfing is only one mile down the road at The Makaha Valley Country Club and Golf Course. You can swim with the turtles and snorkel nearby. There are two beach activity rental spots nearby at West Oahu SUP and Hale Nalu. This is a bedroom community that is far away from it all, which makes it a great budget friendly place to stay, yet the whole island is accessible to you by car in less than 2 hours (1 hour to Waikiki). There is no right or wrong place to stay on the island. It's a matter how much you want to spend and your personal preference. Makaha is considered the country. This is down home, unpretentious Hawaii. If you like the quiet mountain backdrop, rest and relaxation, topped off with a fantastic ocean view, and uncrowded yet safely lifeguarded beaches then this is the place for you. We are located just 20 minutes north of Ko'Olina, home to Aulani the Disney Resort. The west side has changed a lot in the past 5 years since the opening of the Disney resort and tourist are visiting the west more than ever. We have spectacular beaches and one of the best hikes on the island to Ka’ena Point. The Waianae boat harbor is nearby where you can take a day cruise to snorkel and swim with dolphins. Enjoy a family friendly day at the Ko'Olina Lagoons (Disney), eat dinner at Roy's, The Monkey Pod or any of the other great restaurants that are in the Ko'Olina resort area. Nearby is the town of Kapolei where you can enjoy excellent dining, go to the movies, shop at Target or buy organic groceries at Down to Earth - a Hawaiian organic grocery chain, not to mention the brand new west side mall – Ka Makana Ali’i. There are a couple of great Luau's, Germaine's and Paradise Cove. But do not fret, we have some great local restaurants in Makaha and super close (5-10 min.) such as Taco’s and More, Coquito’s, A & G bar and Grill, and The Spicy House just to name a few. They are small and simple (some might call hole-in-the-wall) but boy is the food good. “Da west side is da best side” as the locals say. We agree!
OUR CONDO COMPLEX: Makaha Valley Plantation is the name of the condo complex. We are located one mile from famous Makaha Surfing Beach. We are a low rise 3 story complex comprising of many buildings. We are in our own 3-unit, ocean view, building. We are a gate guarded complex with stringent 24/7 security. The staff is super friendly and you are always greeted with a wave or shaka. The landscaping is lush and green. There are peacocks (and peahens) that freely roam the grounds. We have two swimming pool areas each with a large pool, a kiddie pool and a hot tub. There are showers and bathrooms at each pool area. Each pool area offers a party cabana which can be reserved for a private party or celebration. There are barbecues near the cabanas and in various locations throughout the complex as well as near our unit. We have a tennis court and even tennis rackets. There is a basketball court very close to our unit (we have a basket ball). A few units in the complex offer an ocean view and ours is one of them. During whale season (Dec. - May) whales can be seen from our lanai with the provided binoculars. The island bus stops right in front of the guard shack (www.thebus.org) and will take you anywhere on the island. OAHU VS. THE OTHER ISLANDS:
If this is your first time visiting Hawaii, Oahu is always a good idea. Oahu offers everything! You can be in the crazy hustle and bustle of tourist busses, trolley cars, and throngs of people in Waikiki - to the quiet, mountain backdrop and local chill of the west - to the huge winter waves of the North shore - and if you like hoity toity then Kailua is the place to visit. There are plenty of garden areas, beautiful quiet-and-not-so-quiet beaches, and spectacular snorkeling. Of course, Honolulu is the capitol of Hawaii and it is located on our island of Oahu, so one may say that Oahu is the main island. You can visit the Pearl Harbor Museum and other popular Honolulu attractions and of course Waikiki Beach. Most of what the other islands offer, you can find on Oahu but everything Oahu offers can’t necessarily be found on the other islands. Oahu has no active volcano’s. There are also no land animals on Oahu that can hurt you while hiking or otherwise. There are no wild boars, no snakes, and no rabies. The other islands are beautiful and each has their own gift. We love Oahu because of the diversity from one side of the island to the other.
NOISE: I'd like to address noise or lack-there-of. I think it's extremely quiet on this part of the island and in our condo. I have realized that quiet is relative to what quiet means to you. I come to Hawaii and I think this condo is the quietest place I've ever been. I hear nothing and I sleep with all the windows open. Some people have said that they can hear the morning car noises on Kili Drive (look on map). Our condo backs up to Kili Drive. If you live in a part of the world where there are no car noises near your home, you may hear a few morning cars but it is relatively quiet. In Waikiki however, there is no getting away from car noise. Waikiki would be the equivalent of staying in NYC and complaining of too many car noises. You will hear a lot of nature sounds that's for sure. We have wild peacocks, chickens, roosters, geckos and of course lots of birds. Regardless of your choice we thank you for visiting our site and considering our beautiful condominium for your stay. ~ Mahalo ~ Hawaii is always a good idea!

About Michael and Natalie Sander
We are Michael and Natalie. We are both southern California natives and currently reside in Orange County. Natalie is a flight attendant and comes to Hawaii regularly and Michael is in sales. We have three grown children and three grandchildren. We bought this property to share with our family and now would like to share it with you.
Michael and Natalie Sander purchased this Condo in 2015
Why Michael and Natalie Sander chose Mākaha Valley
Our daughter, being a 4 year student at the University of Hawaii, brought us to the island several times a year. With Natalie being a flight attendant, it was easy and convenient to get here. We fell in love with the island and especially the Waianae coast after exploring the entire island and staying in every region imaginable. We bought this condo just before our youngest daughter's senior year at UH. We have completely remodeled it and hope you will enjoy all of the amenities we are providing for your comfort. We chose the west side of the island because it felt more like home than any of the more touristy parts of the island. We chose the Makaha Valley Plantation and our particular property because of the Ocean view and the 3 bedrooms that it boasts, the high security and the wide spacious feel. It is one of only eight 3 bedroom units in the 572 unit complex. We feel very fortunate to be able to share this beautiful condominium with you and hope you will enjoy and return in the future.
What makes this Condo unique
The west side of the island is being developed quite a bit. Although the locals may not like that fact a whole lot, there is a lot of new development going on. The Disney resort which opened in 2011 has changed the demographics of Oahu and the west side. The west side ain't what it used to be. Just next door to our condo complex is the Makaha Valley Resort which is in the planning process to endure a 300 million dollar renovation. There is the Makaha Country Club and golf course less than a mile away. Ko'Olina includes The Marriott Resort, the new Four Seasons Resort and of course Aulani (the Disney Resort) and many wonderful restaurants including Roy's. Kapolei, a town about 20 minutes from our condo and just minutes beyond Ko'Olina, boasts a lot of great restaurants and movie theaters and Wet n Wild water park. It's also where you'll find the local Target and other comfort spots. Although with so many fast food joints and mom and pop restaurants in Waianae, you'll really never have to go too far. There are great grocery stores, a Longs drugs, and even Starbucks and Jamba Juice nearby. There is much to do on the west side and the beaches are beautiful. Bottom line, you can stay in town and find plenty to do or leave town for the day and explore.

The condo was perfect, the owner has done a fantastic job making sure the unit is well stocked with top of the line appliances and cookware. There are also plenty of beach stuff which made our trip even more enjoyable. Would gladly stay there again.
Delightful Condo with Great View
This condo is truly delightful. It is decorated and equipped precisely, to meet your needs. We spent a week there. We would wake up each morning to the sound of exotic birds chirping. Natalie & Mike have provided all your beach needs with towels and toys, snorkel gear, etc! The location is far enough away from the regular “touristy” chaos. There is a great local beach close by. Golf courses are close by as well. There are a good number of small local restaurants, for the bigger ones you will need to drive back down the coast. We enjoyed the beautiful sunset views. WiFi is good. Thanks for such a wonderful vacation experience.!!!!
Great place. Well maintained. Had everything!
Very pleased with the accommodation. Felt like home. Would stay here again.
Thanks for everything.
A true home away from home
This property is a MUST for anyone who wants the amenities and comfort of home. We had an A-mazing time here! We are a large family (4 kids, ages 10, 8, 8 and 1 year) and we were super comfortable in this apartment. When we got to the apartment, we were greeted with soft Hawaiian music, a welcome sign, Christmas decorations (including a cute tree and a sweet present) and a basket on the counter with first day necessities, it even included outlet covers to protect the little fingers of our almost 1 year old. The apartment had everything we needed; from boogie boards (which the kids LOVED) to a paddle board (which they even loved MORE!), to beach towels, beach buggy, large beach umbrella, coolers, snorkle gear, bags, sun screen, and so much more. We really had everything we needed to our direct disposal, which was amazing. The apartment itself was modern, clean and very well maintained. It was so cozy, just like home. The property is a little bit out of the way, which is fine, the pool on site was amazing (they have 2, but the closest one was closed due to maintenance while we were there), the kids loved it. Some quirky rules about the kids playing around the apartment buildings, but in part to be expected when it is in a gated community. Plus, most days they were too exhausted from the day anyway to even go outside to play. There is beaches close by, with several great for the kids. Because it is a little out of the way, do plan for a drive of 1 hour or longer if you are going to the East side of the island. Also, keep in mind the traffic when going back home, it sometimes took us up to 2 hours when we got stuck in the Honolulu traffic (I'd say stay off the roads between 4 and 6). Dole Plantation, the Heritage museum, zoo, aquarium, Disney property, SO much to do and SO much fun! Natalie has an amazing binder in the apartment with all the sightseeing and must do's. We consulted it frequently! I would highly recommend this property to anyone, thank you Natalie, you made our stay amazing.
Oh, fun fact; our daughter took her first steps in the apartment, so it definitely has a special place in our hearts!
Tronrud Family- Alaska
Such a sweet review! We love to take care of our guests and really want each guest experience to be fantastic. Very important to note that traffic on Oahu can be awful! Our condo is away from it all and can be a couple hours away from Waikiki, North Shore or windward coast. That's what makes us budget friendly. Our reviews say it all. Cynthia and family...you were a joy to host. Please come back again!
This was truly a great vacation. Natalie saw to every detail and it was wonderful! The condo is spotless and comfortable. Everything is brand new! It was stocked with everything we could have needed for the first couple of days - coffee, creamer, waters, snacks, all bathroom needs-shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry detergent and fabric softener. All beach gear provided, which is priceless. A great welcome to our family with a congratulations sign for my twins' graduation to make us feel instantly at home. The view was breathtaking, and the complex peaceful and quiet. Friends stayed in a condo in next building - they are not all the same. Theirs was filthy with beds that felt like sleeping on the box springs. They also had no air conditioning or fans which made it a bit like sleeping in hell. Natalie's is the polar opposite-ac and fans with very comfortable beds. There is a book with many tips on where to see, eat and swim. That was key for us with it being the first time we visited. If you are trying to decide where to stay - this is it. Don't risk another place close by - they aren't all the same. You won't regret booking this condo!
Our goal is to make each guest experience unique and unforgettable. We are thrilled that the twins had a memorable graduation celebration with a family trip to Hawaii ~ a special shout-out to Joey (maybe they'll bring you back for your graduation in a couple of years, wink wink)! Thank you for being such thoughtful guests. Your thoughtfulness and kindness did not go unnoticed and is very much appreciated. ~ Natalie
Perfect condo for a family vacation away from crowds
My family of 4 with two small children stayed for a week and a half in the summer, and we couldn't have had a better experience. There are several beautiful, quiet beaches nearby, a small cave, tide pools, grocery stores, surf lessons, a harbor from which dolphin and scuba tours depart and more. There are plenty of things to do without leaving the west side of the island, which is quieter and seems to be where a lot of local people live. That said, be aware that driving to Honolulu or the North Shore takes about 50 minutes and there can be traffic depending on the time of day. Planning travel to other areas of the island is critical to minimize driving time.
Natalie, the owner, takes excellent care of the property. It's well-furnished, spacious, comfortable, scrupulously clean and provided with so many little helpful touches that I'd run out of room listing them all. Her condo felt like our home away-from-home and put everyone at ease as soon as we stepped through the entry.
The condo is pretty much a perfect fit, especially for those traveling with a family. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can return to Hawaii. When we do, we'll happily stay here again.
The west side is the home to spinner dolphins and a great hike to the famed Kaena Point, home of the Monk Seals. It boasts some of the most beautiful beaches. There is boating and beach activity rentals nearby. Big local surf competitions in February and March. Buffalo's Big Board Surfing Classic and Rell Sunn's Menehune Surf contest.
