About Brad Drury
The "Coo Coo's Nest" cottage has been in my family for 30 years or so. My family and friends have many fond memories of spending time at the lake. We invite you to stay and enjoy it as much as we have.
Brad Drury purchased this Cottage in 1986

Our Family really enjoyed the cottage and would definitely stay there again. The property is in great shape and has easy access to the private beach.
The perfect place for our family's Lake Erie getaway!
Our family of 6 (5 adults and one 17-year-old) spent 5 days at this adorable cottage in the area I enjoyed on weekends with my family when we'd visit my grandparents in Cleveland as I was growing up. The "homey-ness" of the cottage and of the area in general brought back so many great memories for me! The home was clean, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable - comfy beds, a dining table large enough to accommodate our game nights, a kitchen with all the necessities (including a Keurig!), plenty of towels, a lovely deck for morning coffee and evening drinks, and a garage that held beach chairs, a beach umbrella and other beach-related items that made our day on the beach perfect. The cottage is within walking distance to two beaches and the cart that was provided hauled all our things to the closest one so all we had to do was carry a few beach towels.
The cottage is within an easy drive to Cedar Point, where we spent two full days, and to Catawba, where we took the ferry to South Bass Island/Put-in-Bay. My daughters and I also spent time shopping in the darling Sawmill Creek boutiques, only about a 15 minute drive away. There aren't a lot of restaurants in Huron proper that were open for some of our late dinner times, but there were a few and plenty in nearby Sandusky to provide us with several dining options (Small City Taphouse for sushi and a huge craft beer selection in Sandusky and Pied Piper ice cream just down the main road in Huron were standouts!). Being close enough to these things but away from the "touristy" area around Cedar Point made this place the perfect location for us!
The only caveat I have for a group of adults is understanding that the loft area has a very low ceiling and twin-sized beds, which were just fine for my 5'-4" and 5'-6" daughters, but my almost 6' son had to be a little more careful and curl up to sleep and my 6'6" son only ventured up there once. He slept in the second bedroom downstairs, and had to sleep a bit sideways because his feet hit the opposing wall otherwise, but he said the comfortable bed more than made up for that fact. Honestly, it wasn't really an issue for us - there was so much to love about the place - but I guess it's fair to bring up in case that's a concern for some people.
I truly can't recommend this place highly enough. Brad was wonderful to work with and did everything to ensure our stay was all we hoped it for. It certainly was...and more!
Great place! Coo Coo-tastic!
My wife and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend with our 3 kids at the lake. We've rented in Old Homestead II once before, but really liked the beachy vibe this place provided. Owners were great to work with and fun memories were made.
Very nice cottage, well equipped with high end equipment and amenities. Just a block to beach
We have had some situations where the pictures didn't accurately indicate the actual cottage. That is not the case with coocoo's nest. It is as advertised and more. Would return without hesitation.
Very clean and comfortable place to stay! Amenities included were great, access to beach a nice bonus, nearby activities left us with too little time, and the owner was great to work with! If you're looking for a place to eat nearby, would highly recommend Berardi's - and make sure to order the seafood chowder!
Charming Lake House!
This updated cottage was the perfect space for three moms and their daughters to stay for a dance competition in the area. The house was wonderfully decorated, exceptionally well-cared for, clean and stocked with any item you may need. It was only a short drive to our competition location and Cedar Point. And only a short walk to the private beach. The owner was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. We certainly enjoyed our trip and loved relaxing in this home.
Close to Cedar Point and right on the shore of the "Walleye Capital of the World." Home is located approximately 10 houses from a private sand beach. Nearby park has a basketball court, tennis court and multi sports field. Public boat launch on the Huron river is about 1/2 mile away.
