This property is special as it is on the garden that my mother was raised in. The old home was occupied by German troops for a few years, they had to relocate, and then came back to it after the war.
The location has to be the best in Heraklion. The city is a short walk, yet our area has the widest streets in the town and parking is always available, free and unrestricted.
The port is even closer and a very short walk from the ferry terminal. We also have quick access to the airport, only a few km away, far enough to not be too noisy but be warned Heraklion is very busy in the season with air traffic.
Crete has so much to do and see so Heraklion is a good central base. The night life in Heraklion is buzzing, especially in the summer months, and living close to town is great, avoiding long drives home after a night out.
We have renovated this home, retaining some special features such as the polished floors and marble kitchen sink, and added the best in modern conveniences including upgrading the water supply system, solar heating, and the latest air conditioning and heating systems. Where possible we have bought local, to support the struggling Greek economy. The beds for example are top end pocket coil pillow top mattresses, and all the linen is high thread count Egyptian cotton. Towels are plush cotton, so you are assured of a comfortable stay.
The kitchen is fully equipped with Bosch and Siemens appliances, microwave but no dishwasher. There was no space to put one in without destroying the old design cabinets that are narrower than the current standards.
Our terrazza on the top floor is a great place to catch a tan. Loungers are available and an outside shower for a quick cool off. It gets hot up there! The laundry has washing, air drying and ironing facilities, and you have the option of employing our maid Juli directly for 12 EUR/hr, she is great, from Sri Lanka and speaks perfect English and Greek too!
