Thank you Mark for your review. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Riverside Cottage ....... and the cycling routes in the area. The cottage is, as you say, an ideal base for exploring the area whether by car or bicycle.
What a delightful cottage in a stunning setting by the river. Absolutely loved waking up and going to sleep to the sound of the water streaming by.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and superbly well equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing week. Lovely walks from the door and even more within short drives away. Will be coming back for sure.
Das Cottage liegt sehr ruhig und die Vermieter sind sehr net und hilfsbereit. Die Ausstattung ist super und entspicht dem Inserat. Die Unterkunft ist unbedingt empfehlenswert.
What a fantastic property so well appointed with everything needed for a lovely relaxing break. Lovely hosts and added welcome pack included. Great home baking by Kate.
We used the cottage as a base when spending a week away with our two children aged 7 and 9.
There are lovely local walks from the door and/or a short drive away at Black Esk reservoir, which is also good for leisurely mountain biking on forest roads. We also used a couple of the local 7stanes mountain biking facilities (30 mins drive), visited the beach at Rockcliffe/Kippford (1hr) and spent a day at Threave Gardens and nature reserve (also 1hr).
The property itself is bigger than it looks on the pictures and we found there was plenty of room for us. Everything we needed was there, the hygiene/covid protocols were unobtrusive, beds comfy, outside space more than ample for us to relax. Parking right next to the door, storage for bikes, inside or outside dining.
The owners were great - and really succeeded on giving us our privacy but also being there if/when we needed.
One of the best overall rentals we have ever experienced.
Superb top spec house in a beautiful location, great place to stay for a holiday base with excellent hosts. Some lovely goodies provided as a welcome treat and everything you would need is provided for in the house. Hope to return and will be recommending the property.

About the host
Hosted by Kate Nutt
I grew up in the village on a farm and moved a few hundred metres down the road in 1995 when I got married to where we live now. My parents sold the farm nearly 20 years ago and it is now Chariots of Fire Driving Centre.
Why they chose this property
The property belonged to my family until the 1970s. I have lived in the village all my life. We purchased the neighbouring property in 1994 before we got married and I wanted one day to buy the cottage back. We did this in 2015 and took 2 years to completely renovate the cottage ready to let as a self catering holiday home.
What makes this property unique
Stunning views, peaceful riverside location, central to many attractions and activities, only 10 minutes from the M74 and train station.
