An enchanting gite for two close to Chinon, Saumur, Fontevraud Abbey

Hidden behind oak gates next to L'Eglise Notre Dame in Veniers, 3km from all the amenities of the medieval town of Loudun. La Maison Tumtum Arbre is a delightful self-catering gite for a maximum of 2 people. Sensitively renovated to a high standard, original oak beams and tuffeau stone walls combine with modern design to create an enchanting space, perfect for a comfortable retreat and base from which to explore the Loire Valley, ‘the garden of France’.

The open plan ground floor provides a well equipped, modern kitchen including a full size cooker, microwave/grill, fridge, dishwasher, crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment, complimented with granite worktops. The dining and lounge area with WiFi, satellite HD TV & DVD leads to bi-fold doors which open out onto the south facing terrace and outdoor cooking area with outdoor table and chairs. To the rear of the gite sun loungers are available in the private and exclusive gravel garden. For the winter season electric heating is installed.
A wooden staircase leads to the first floor suite which is furnished with a kingsize framed bed fitted with crisp white Egyptian cotton sheets; there is a dressing table with mirror, hairdryer, wardrobe and a sofa. The ensuite shower room has a rainhead shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet. Towels for indoor and outdoor use are provided. The suite has wooden floors and a feature stone wall.

Our 'Paradise' garden is a formal garden with gentle fountain and an arbour were guests can relax......read a book.....drink a glass of wine....

We now have our own small craft brewery onsite, 'Thirsty Steves' has been brewing artisan beer since 2020. Traditionally brewed using all natural ingredients.

The property is finished to a very high standard, immaculate throughout. Great outside areas for eating and relaxing. Kitchen fully equipped with high end facilities and the bedroom and bathroom also provide all you need with the emphasis on luxury, definitely recommended.

We were really impressed with the property. It is a beautiful place for a couple. The gite had everything that we needed. Nous sommes tombés sous le charme de cette charmante maison joliment décoré avec un jardin paradisiaque. Ses propriétaires, Pam et Steve sont adorables et très discrets. Si vous souhaitez passer un séjour agréable et au calme alors je vous conseille la Maison Tumtum Arbre. Croyez moi vous ne serez pas déçu, elle est idéalement placée pour visiter châteaux et troglodytes. Nous recommandons avec grand plaisir cette adresse.

Better Than Anticipated

Hidden behind a large double gate, next to the church, this property exceeded our expectations. We found the descriptions to be accurate and the furnishings and fittings are all very high end. The stairs to the bedroom and ensuite are necessarily a bit steep and if we had one minor gripe it wa that the fridge is small so if you are self catering rather than eating out then perhaps shop accordingly for your arrival. Although thee are no amenities in Veniers, Loudun itself is a short drive away and may make for a pleasant stroll although it was too hot to test this theory during our stay. There was shade to be found throughout the day in the private courtyard in the fabulous gardens. The hosts were very approachable and full of useful information and thee is a microbrewery on site offering 3 distinct brews. Chinon, Saumur and Fontevraud are short drives away, we particularly enjoyed Fontevraud. We have no hesitation in recommending this site to everyone. We aren't in the habit of returning to places but if we were we would happily revisit La Maison Tumtum Arbre. Thank you Pam( and Steve).

A place to be.

Le calme à quelques kilomètres des sites historique du Val de Loire et des centres d'intérêt de la Vienne. Petit gite de style campagnard, rénové avec goût, simple mais suffisamment équipé et bien sécurisé par une cour fermée. C'est un sympathique pied-à-terre où nous avons passé une semaine très plaisante entre échappées à vélo, petites randonnée et découvertes du terroir. Le jardin de Pam et les bières de Steve valent à eux seuls le détour.

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour dans ce gîte très confortable et très calme., à une demi-heure de voiture de nombreux sites. Nous avons pu visiter Fontevraud, Chinon, et faire du vélo le long de la Loire. Excellent séjour dans un très joli gîte en pierres

Nous sommes tombés sous le charme de ce joli gîte magnifiquement rénové, tout confort, très bonne literie, très propre et bien au calme. Sa situation nous a permis de visiter de nombreux châteaux (Azay le Rideau, Chinon, Rivau, Ussé, Saumur...) sites troglodytiques et de découvrir cette belle région. Les propriétaires sont adorables, discrets et ont été très soucieux de notre bien être. Nous recommandons avec grand plaisir cette excellente adresse.

Un séjour très agréable

Le gîte correspond exactement à l'annonce. Il est très confortable et arrangé avec beaucoup de goût (et quelques clins d’œil à Alice au pays des merveilles). Calme, à la campagne et à proximité du centre historique de Loudun, de l'abbaye de Fontevraud, de Chinon, de la maison de Rabelais,etc. Les propriétaires sont accueillants, charmants tout en demeurant discrets. Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable, entre farniente sur la terrasse et visites aux alentours. Nous le recommandons sans hésiter - pour un couple - et y reviendrons probablement.

Très beau gite au calme et proche de nombreuses visites.

Les propriétaires Pam et Steeve sont très accueillants et discrets a la fois. Les photos sont totalement conformes : beaux éclairages intérieurs a la nuit, cuisine bien équipée, décoration très soignée et plein de plaisirs sur la qualité des draps et serviettes! Les châteaux classiques sont proches mais j'avais pour projet des "secondaires" a 2 pas ; Oiron, Montreuil-Bellay ... et Saumur, le cadre noir,.. belles destinations a faire, et a refaire! Pour les amateurs de fromages de chèvre, vente directe producteur juste a coté du gite ; merci a Pam et Steeve pour cette bonne adresse! Je vous recommande ce beau gite!
