About this property

Creek-Side Living In The Pennsylvania Elk Range

Sitting at the end of a quiet country lane, only yards from the water's edge, Camp Eagle's Nest is a peaceful haven with spectacular views of the mountains as well as the Driftwood branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin can accommodate a family looking for an escape from their everyday routine, or is cozy enough for a couple seeking a romantic retreat. Outdoors enthusiasts will enjoy the close proximity of trout streams and state forest lands.

Nestled in the Pennsylvania Elk Range, Camp Eagle's Nest is a perfect location for elk watchers, anglers, hunters, bird watchers, and nature enthusiasts. Whether you are canoeing the Sinnemahoning, looking for elk sheds, watching for the frequently sighted bald eagle, golfing at the Emporium Country Club, hiking one of the many nearby trails or just breathing in the mountain air, Camp Eagle's Nest truly embodies what a "getaway" should be.

Renovated extensively, the owners wanted to make the interior of Camp Eagle's Nest is an immersion in nature as well. Using trees harvested in Pennsylvania, each room has a unique ambiance. To bring the outdoors inside, the owners carefully chose decor with rustic detail such as the stone work on the fireplace with a live edge mantel, decorative game mounts, and live edge trim throughout the cabin.

Though the feel of the cabin is rustic, guests will still have all of the modern amenities they enjoy at home such as a fully-stocked, modern kitchen, a washer and dryer, WiFi and cable television.

We would love for you to join as for your next vacation, and experience a true "getaway!"

Hunting trip stay
We stayed here a little over a week to hunt in the area. We did have some issues with the internet for a little over a day but once we were able to go into town and get cell service to contact the owners they got in contact with the provider and sent someone to the house to fix it. Location of the house is nice. It was overall clean. Bedroom walls are thin so you can hear the people next to you having a conversation. Kitchen has all the things that you need to cook. Just one dish towel and rag is provided if you do not opt in for the linen service.

Don't expect wifi but plenty of elk
Overall the house was nice and the location was good. We appreciated the decor and scenery. The wifi was not available, and the volume button did not work for the TV. I messaged the owner when we were in an area with service on 2 occasions to inform them we bought batteries for the remote and it still didn't work and that the wifi network was not available; I didn't get a response either time. Fortunately, we weren't there for internet or TV and we were able to see amazing wild life, including elk!

Great Family Fun and Relaxing
Loved this property and provided the much needed reprieve from the hustle and bustle of back home. I saw many different animals every morning while sitting on the provided bench while drinking my morning coffee.

Elk County, God's Country...
This House is the most peaceful place that I have ever visited with my family. The water is not so deep that I have to worry about my grandchildren The kitchen is huge, and the table is nice and big enough to play games. There is no crowd, just my family hanging out. This is the 2nd time we rented, and we will be back again... It does not have all the expensive trappings that cost so much with kids. We have to entertain each other.

Great Location
The location of this cabin is excellent. We enjoyed sitting outside by the stream and listening to the running water and enjoying the view. The fishing was good, the best fishing spot is right outside the back door. The stream is stocked with trout but we only caught small mouth bass. The restaurants listed on the site page needs to be updated. None of the restaurants listed were open for business. We did find 2 excellent restaurants nearby, The Driftwood Saloon and Grille, and the Bennezett Hotel. There was no dumpster near the property, so we just left the trash bag on the front porch. We saw lots of wildlife, elk, deer, turkey, eagles, ducks, rabbits, and squirrels. There is a great bike trail that runs between Emporium and St. Mary's. We rode around 25 miles round trip. the bike trail runs through woods along a creek with wetlands. It's a great place to just drive through the mountains and enjoy the scenery. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Fun weekend!
Loved the location. It was quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed watching the river while eating. We had kayaks, people on tubes floating by and saw some deer. The house isn’t real big, but for 4 adults and our Westie, it was perfect. Great porch with a view. We’ll go back again! Information regarding bedding and linens needs to be posted on the original web page.

About the host

Hosted by Bryan Lukehart & Jennifer Helman

Host profile image
An unlikely pair, Bryan grew up in Marion Center, Pennsylvania where he was raised on the family farm, tending to fields, and hunting and fishing when he got the chance; Jennifer grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, and when she came to Indiana County, PA to attend IUP, she fell in love with the outdoors and never left the area.

Bryan's family has a camp on Wolf Lick, and since he was a child, Bryan grew up fishing the streams in Elk Country, and hunting bear and whitetail deer in the abundant State Game and Forest Lands. Needless to say, Bryan's roots as an outdoorsman run deep, and still today, he is an avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper.

Almost a decade ago, Jennifer was introduced to Elk Country by Bryan's dad, Ed, and the two have put on countless miles photographing elk and sightseeing. Despite growing up in the city, Jennifer developed a deep love for the outdoors, she is an avid trail runner and hiker, and also likes to hunt and fish.

Why they chose this property

In July of 2015, Bryan saw a sign along PA Highway 120 that said “property for sale.” This property was one that Bryan and his children were familiar with from their fishing expeditions around Elk and Cameron Counties. The cabin and separate bait shop, named “Anther’s Treasure,” positioned only yards from the Driftwood Branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek, were up for sale. We jumped in with both feet! Seven months of renovation turned this 100 year old house into a rustic, yet refined, retreat for any outdoors enthusiast.

During the renovation we were struggling for a name for our newest getaway, when we started spotting a golden eagle and an adult bald eagle in the area. Hence, Camp Eagle’s Nest was born!

What makes this property unique

This cabin could not be in a better location! Sitting at the end of a dead-end country road and only yards from the banks of the Driftwood Branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek, Camp Eagle's Nest is the perfect spot if you are looking for seclusion. Cameron County is known as the "Land of Endless Mountains" and for good reason! Camp Eagle's Nest offers stunning mountain views from every point on the property. The "Eagle Room," as we call it, is the perfect place to eat breakfast and watch for wildlife.
