Nuestra casa en medio de la calle.

Nuestra casa ha pasado recientemente por una transformación completa y aún así mantiene todas las características originales. Recientemente renovada a alto nivel, nuestra casa ahora tiene el factor "Waouh" y usted disfrutará de una gran estadía no solo en la casa, sino también disfrutando de las vistas al puerto y la catedral. En las mañanas y en las últimas horas de la tarde, puede disfrutar de los transatlánticos que llegan y salen del puerto de abajo, mientras disfruta de su café de la mañana o, por la noche, quizás una copa de vino.
Situado en el medio de esta pintoresca calle, West View, es una de las 23 casas construidas a fines de la década de 1850 y diseñadas por el arquitecto de la Reina Victoria.
La casa está en 3 niveles y características:
- 4 dormitorios, incluyendo uno en la planta baja;
- Dos baños de estilo tradicional con una bañera independiente, una ducha separada, un lavabo y retretes;
- Una cocina moderna muy espaciosa y llena de luz con una mesa grande;
- Un comedor / sala de estar independiente.
- Un cuarto de baño en la planta baja con lavabo, ducha y aseos.
La casa tiene todo lo que desea para una estancia relajante y cuenta con todo el equipamiento para que su estadía sea aún más cómoda: lavadora, ropa de cama, toallas y WiFi de alta velocidad.

Pasar 4-5 noches o una semana completa en la casa es ideal, ya que no solo podrá disfrutar plenamente de la casa y relajarse allí, sino que también podrá aprovechar al máximo lo que Cobh y la zona tienen para ofrecerle. Puede pasar fácilmente un día en Cobh, visitando la Catedral, el Centro del Patrimonio, el Museo del Titanic y recorriendo el sendero del Titanic. En otro día, puede visitar la ciudad de Cork, a solo 25 minutos en tren (la estación de trenes está a menos de 10 minutos a pie de la casa) o en la isla Fota (los jardines, el zoológico o un día en el campo de golf). Desde Cobh, también puedes hacer excursiones de un día a Ballycotton (caminando por los acantilados, visitando la Cerámica Stephen Pearce (y tomando un buen pedazo de pastel de su café), visitando la fábrica de Jameson en Midleton, besando la piedra de Blarney en el Castillo de Blarney , y también puedes conducir en un día a Killarney y volver a la casa.

Hay mucho que hacer en la zona, y no te olvides de disfrutar de la excelente comida y ambiente en los restaurantes locales, y por supuesto disfrutar de una buena pinta en uno de los pubs locales.

Our recent stay at this property was disappointing and fell far below expectations. To start, we were unable to check in for three hours due to a lack of communication from the host, who was unresponsive. We had to escalate the issue to Vrbo customer support to gain access to the property.Once inside, the condition of the home was poor/not as described in the listing. While it claims to be “recently renovated,” only the kitchen and bathroom vanity have been updated-everything else is outdated and in need of serious attention.Here are some of the major issues we encountered:- Bedding: All duvets are old/worn out. The mattresses are uncomfortable, every bed squeaks making it hard for two people can sleep comfortably on them.- The so-called bedroom on the ground floor is just a bed in the living space behind a curtain. This setup provides no real privacy and very awkward for the person staying there.- Living room furniture is in terrible condition. The sofa sits on the floor, and the two small chairs are stained and filthy. There are no side tables or coffee table, and the TV is placed on a stack of crates.- Curtains and shades throughout the house are dirty, ripped, and tattered. In the upstairs bathroom, rusty safety pins are holding the curtain together.- The carpet on the stairs is old, dirty, and held in place with staples.- The windows are so filthy you can barely see out of them.- Both bathrooms have mold, and the upstairs shower does not drain properly.

Historic Home

The check-in was easy, we were easily able to locate the key. The kitchen was obviously updated recently. My only complaint is, the upstairs shower and sink do not drain well, the floors have been sanded and that’s all. When you walk barefoot or in socks, your feet snag on slivers of wood. The bed on the second floor is not comfortable, it sags to the middle and every time you move, it makes noise. There is one couch That seats 3 people, and one chair in the small living room, there is a double bed in the room. There is a large kitchen table that seats about 6 people. The house is in a great location, but on the side of a steep hill. The town is cute and good little restaurants nearby, within walking distance.

Only ok

Whilst this is an old building, the online description was not representative of the property. It wasn’t four bedrooms, it was three bedrooms and part of the lounge screened off by a curtain to make a so called fourth bedroom. The wardrobe in this so called bedroom was full of junk, the mirror on the front is missing. The furnishings in the lounge were all stained. There were not enough chairs to seat 10 people round the table. The beds were old and creaked and the mattresses could have been a lot better. The heating system was good and the white goods and range in the kitchen were of a good standard.The best I can say for this property was that it was adequate but didn’t meet our expectations from the description and was a disappointment.

Family Trip June 2024

Our group of 5 stayed in the house for 3 days and really enjoyed our stay. It was a great location and the house was as described. Only 2 complaints. 1-the beds/mattresses were all very thin/lumpy/noisy - made for not great sleep. 2-we originally booked for 10 people, or 2 families. However, 1 family backed out, leaving only 5 people. I messaged the owner to ask about the charge for additional people to see if it could be removed and never got a response. We wanted to stay in the house so we kept the reservations, but feel that we should not have had to pay that fee.

Family time

My family and I absolutely loved our time here. The house was perfect for our large group and very comfortable. We loved the town as well. Everyone was extremely welcoming and very kind to us! We had a great time staying here in Cobh, and will be back!

great location needs updates

Perfect location to walk to all to see in Cobh. Kitchen great. A few small updates will make this place great. Carpet to upstairs worn and dirty. Bed frames need to be changed. Mattresses and pillows are fine

Great place to stay

Great location just a short walk to the waterfront and all the shops and restaurants/pins there. Host was very responsive and provided insights on grocery stores and pubs in area. Would definitely visit Cobh again and house is a great spot to do so. Just know you will get your exercise in walking back up the hill from town, but it is worth it.

Cobh is a gem

Good, but…

First things first, the location of this house simply cannot be beat. On the famous & much-photographed street in Cobh, you’re a short walk from everything you could want to do in this lovely town. There are wonderful views of the cathedral from several rooms, & even a glimpse of the sea from the very top room. It’s hard to imagine a better spot to have as a home base. Now then, all of that being said, one should temper one’s expectations when it comes to aesthetics. It is, in a word, rough. I write this as a great lover of old houses and owner of one myself. It has not been completely renovated as the description states. But beyond that, it’s just not a very inviting or comfortable place to be. Nothing on the walls, crates for furniture, safety pinned curtains, staples sticking out of the carpet on the stairs, a broken toilet seat, unstable tub, & so on. One of the “bedrooms” is actually the front/living room, separated from the TV area by a curtain, rendering the ground floor a no-go zone if someone is sleeping there and leaving much to be desired in the way of privacy for that person. There was a single hand towel & a single kitchen towel, nothing to wash dishes with. Overall, it felt like it need a deep cleaning, a thorough scrub to remove all of the many scuffs on the walls, & perhaps a fresh paint job with attention paid to the details. It’s a wonderful old place in a dazzling location, just in need of a fair bit of TLC. Stay here, just know what you’re getting into

PERFECT LOCATION!

We were 2 couples traveling through Ireland, this was one of our favorite stops! The waterfront town of Cobh was so cute! Great little coffee shops and restaurants literally minutes walk away. There is a little grocery store within 5 min walk that we bought snacks and drinks to have at the house. We took the commuter train (7 min walk) to Cork, super easy. The only surprise in the home was there is no dryer! We wanted to wash our clothes and didn't realize there was no dryer so we had to hang them to dry... glad we had 2 days here so they had time to dry. Besides that the house was great! Patrick was super easy to communicate with and check in/out was a breeze! Plenty of parking on the hill.

We totally enjoyed our time in Cobh, and Our House In The Middle Of The Street was a great location to make it all happen. There was plenty of room for us, and the amenities provided helped make our stay comfortable. But please be aware that you will get your daily exercise on your returns from town.....

Location location location

An extremely unique home with great views, location is a five minute walk from the waterfront and everything Cobh has to offer, which is a lot. Didn’t appreciate the slope of the street but knew about that going in and it’s part of its character. Host got back to us promptly and had some great insights for us too.

More like student lodgings

The house was in a brilliant location, we had a wedding locally, however the accommodation was not up to standard. One bedroom was actually the front room divided by a curtain. The downstairs shower fluctuated from burning to freezing. We wish we took our own towels and bedding. Master bedroom bed sunk in the middle. Cheap nylon curtains. No wardrobes to put clothes away or bedside cabinets. Carpet on the stairs was stapled. GO TO IKEA! Over all very disappointing and could easily be so much nicer.

Great location!

This was a great place for location. A couple small issues - the one bedroom only had curtains for privacy so was difficult for the ones that were in there to sleep if others were in the living area/kitchen. Also, doesn't have much in supplies, so make sure to pick up paper towels and other basics. But the location was a great base.

We have tried to keep a great balance between the traditional features (fireplaces, high ceilings, architraves, original timber floor) and modern living. We are especially proud of the bathroom with its stand-alone bath, the kitchen with the velux and modern equipment!

We believe the combination of original features and modern design is what makes the house unique. Indeed, because it is in the middle of the hill, you get a lot of sunlight, and you have a great views of the Harbour and of the Cathedral from nearly every windows!
