About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Le Chemin des Rêves is a magnificent Provençal property located just outside the beautiful perched village of Gordes, officially designated as one of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in France'. Our very private house and garden sit on one hectare (2 1/2 acres) in the countryside and are perfectly positioned for easy access to all that Provence has to offer. The house is built of stone from the region and has a southwestern exposure with a stunning view of the Calavon Valley and of the Luberon and Les Alpilles mountains.

Le Chemin des Rêves has four beautiful and tastefully decorated bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom. All bedrooms were designed with comfort and privacy in mind. Each room is fully equipped with radio/alarm clock, linens, plush towels, body wash, hair dryer and tissues. The master bedroom suite is equipped with a bathtub.

The kitchen is well equipped with a five burner gas cooktop, oven with rotisserie, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer and microwave. You will find all the pots, pans, dishware, wine/cocktail glasses, food processor, blender, toaster, coffee pot, tassimo coffee maker and all utensils required to prepare delicious meals using the products you will find in the local village markets. Market day in Gordes is Tuesday morning and the definitely not-to-be-missed farmer's market in Coustellet is on Sunday morning. The adjacent utility room has a washer, dryer and second refrigerator with freezer.

The dining room is furnished with beautiful oak furniture and the table can be expanded to seat 8-10 people comfortably. You will find all necessary linens available for your use.

The living room (Salon), with it's massive stone fireplace and high ceilings with Provençal beams, is furnished with beautiful leather couches and chair. It also offers a truly beautiful view of the mountains and the valley.

The den/library is equipped with HDTV with SkyTV service, DVD player, CD player/radio, I-Pod player, WiFi service and Printer with print/scan/copy/web capability. There is a vast collection of CD's and DVD's for your entertainment. In addition, the library is stocked with many books and magazines for your enjoyment.

Our very private swimming pool is 11 x 5 meters and is a wonderful place for family fun or swimming laps. There are eight (8) comfortable pool loungers where you can relax after a dip in the pool and read or just enjoy a nap. Surrounding the pool are large pool parasols for your enjoyment as well.

In the pool house you will discover a BBQ with rotisserie (wood is provided), a small refrigerator, sink and comfortable furniture for relaxing. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal cooked on the BBQ and watch a beautiful Provençal sunset.

At the rear of the house you will find our herb garden and a stone picnic table where you can enjoy leisurely meals in the shade of the oak trees.

Relaxing on the terrace is a great place to put your feet up and enjoy a chilled glass of local rosé wine after a day of exploring the many villages, markets, restaurants, wineries, historical sites and all that Provence has to offer.

Planted in the garden are 70+ olive trees, 300+ lavender plants, many varieties of flowers, bushes and native trees which add a lovely dimension of color to the landscape. As you walk around the garden you will enjoy the aromas of Provence...wild thyme, rosemary and savory. While on your way through the gardens you will also discover an ancient stone borie, which is a fine example of the bories that dot the landscape in this area. If you like, you can visit the Village of the Bories which is just up the road from Le Chemin des Rêves.

We invite you to experience Le Chemin des Rêves and discover the perfect location for your dream vacation. The walled city of Avignon is just a 30 minute drive; the beautiful village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, which is surrounded by the vines of some of the premier wine makers in the world, is only a 40 minute drive from the property. In an hour or less you can be in the Camargue or in Arles, visit the Pont-du-Gard or the Roman theater in Orange, enjoy lunch and shopping in St. Remy de Provence, drive to Aix-en-Provence or visit the ancient city of Marseille. Your choices are unlimited! Let your curiosity lead you toward wonderful discoveries: Roman ruins, historic perched villages, village markets, outdoor concerts, fabulous restaurants, castles, wineries and much, much more. Just choose a road to follow and discover something new everyday.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We want to tell you how much we LOVED your home and our time in Provence. Paris was incredible but everyone's favorite was our week at Le Chemin des Reves! The food, the views, the weather, your home, the pool, ahhh, we didn't want to leave! Kids swam in the pool, adults drank wine in the pool house. Heavenly! Gordes was my favorite, simply stunning! So grateful to have your lovely home to stay in. Thank You. Truly a trip of a lifetime.

Stunning, well located haven

We adored Les Chemin des Reves. It was well-appointed, very comfortable, smart and set in the most stunning location. We couldn't recommend it more highly!

Feels like home

  • 5 of 5

It didn't take long for our family to settle in to the house. From day one, it felt like our home away from home. After a day spent exploring one of the beautiful local towns, it was an absolute joy to return home to Le Chemin Des Reves for our afternoon ritual - a dip in the cool water of the beautiful pool, followed by a glass of delicious local wine, and an assortment of local cheeses, fruits (including figs picked from trees right on the property!), and fresh baked breads. All while taking in the spectacular view that photographs simply cannot fully capture.

The owners Gary and Cathy have done a wonderful job with the house and the property - everything so tastefully done, yet unbelievably comfortable and with all of the conveniences that helped to make our stay so relaxing. An unbelievably well-appointed kitchen - cooking meals was a joy - and a conveniently located laundry room are just two of the highlights of the conveniences of home that we enjoyed.

My son absolutely loved exploring the grounds! Almost daily we would walk along the stone walls, wander through the olive grove, and enjoy deep breaths in the beautiful, fragrant lavender field.

Beverly was a fabulous resource for us the entire time - she was always available to guide us regarding towns and villages to visit, restaurants, local markets, and more - down to the smallest detail. Not only was she a great resource, but she couldn't be a nicer person! In fact, by the time we left, we felt as though we had made new friends in Beverly and her daughter Sam.

My only hesitation in awarding five stars to the property and writing such a positive review is that there is a part of me that wants to keep Le Chemin Des Reves as our family's little secret! At the end of the day, though, I feel better sharing and hope other families can enjoy as wonderful an experience as we had.

Paradise in Provence

  • 5 of 5

We were blessed to be able to spend 6 lovely weeks at Le Chemim Des Reves. The house was well appointed, comfortable bedrooms, spacious nicely stocked kitchen, lots of attention to detail. The outside grounds and views were spectacular.

Lavender fields, rosemary bushes , fresh figs from the tree, herbs , pool to relax in.

Sunsets to enjoy with a matching glass of Rose. We loved the location in that we able to shop at markets and stores , eat at fabulous restaurants, visit the picture perfect towns and not have to fight traffic to get out our door and only be a stones throw away from everything. I loved cooking in the kitchen the cookbook collection was great and so much fun finding and using all the local foods. There was also lots of travel material to look through.

Beverly as manager was super helpful and had excellent advice for us

Highly recommend the house

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We were 6 adults and greatly enjoyed this beautiful home, Chemin des Reves. The view is magnificent. We could not have asked for anything better. It was a great fit for our group. The lavender field typical of Provencal life. All rooms are very comfortable. The manager, Beverly, was very hospitable and very accommodating. We would return to the property without any doubt. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend this property.

Une Reve!

  • 5 of 5

In September we spent our 14th (That's right!!!) visit to Chemin des Reves. After renting several other houses in the Gordes area, we finally found CDR which, frankly, has everything we enjoy. It's location is awesome in the midst of a very lively and interesting area, yet essentially the property is very private behind its tall iron gates. The lavender field and the producing olive grove are typical of Provençal life. The furniture and bedrooms are very comfortable , the bathrooms have good showers and the kitchen is so well equipped. Naturally the pool is a big plus, especially for our grandkids, and the borie is a reminder of the timelessness of this wonderful part of the world.
